Photoshop :: Non Destructive - Movable Filter?
Nov 6, 2013I'm thinking if there is a way to get photoshop somehow to apply a filter on a shapelayer, which will apply the filter on the layers beneath It's similar to applying effects on a 0% filled layer, exept in stead of effects I need to use filter (Spherize filter to be exact)!

Jul 21, 2008I want to use the burn tool for a special effect but I want to do it on a new layer, I've read all about making a new layer set to overlay mode with 50% grey but this produces a different effect than when I burn the backround layer.
When using burn>highlights>15% on skin colour I get a grey kind of burn which is perfect but it destroys the pixles but when using the non-destructive method I get dark red effect which is not what im looking for.
I'm not using the burn tool in the typical sense (to darken part of the picture) I use the highlight/midtone/shadows seperate to create a very specific special effect with the burn tool.

Aug 27, 2012I've wrapped my head around how to reclaim the stripped-out portion of an image that has been non-destructively cropped in CS6: click the image with the crop tool, or select Reveal All from the Image menu. Short of doing this every time I suspect that I may have cropped an image, is there anything in Photoshop's interface to tell me at a glance if the image has been non-destructively cropped? I guess I could check the document dimensions in the pop-up status display at the bottom of the window, but I'm looking for something more direct that doesn't make me search.

Photoshop :: Establish Non-destructive Saturation (ceiling) Level?
Sep 18, 2013Is there any way to put a non-destructive cap on color saturation, the way you can shelf frequencies above or below a certain level in audio engineering?
In other words, an adjustment layer that would limit all saturation values over X to.. well.. X.
Example : Let's say we set it to 80% max. Pixels with saturation levels of 80 or below remain untouched. Pixels with saturation levels over 80 are re-adjusted to 80.
(Simply lowering the saturation levels via an adjustment layer will lower everything, including portions that are already below the desired cap. We don't want that.)
Lightroom :: Non Destructive Crop Preserved When Edit In Photoshop
Apr 5, 2012I hope that there would be an option in the future to crop an image in lightroom, then when you open to "edit in photoshop" the image would be cropped using photoshop new non destructive crop. So that i can tweak color and retouch the whole image then close and i can do final cropping back in LR.

Oct 6, 2013I can't just accept something cause it's the way it is. I like to know the reasoning behind it.
Case in point:
Why does the check box say "Non-destructive breakline?" Why doesn't it say, "Erase tin lines that cross boundary?" I doesn't seem to have anything to do with breaklines. Or am I wrong on that one?
While I'm on a roll, double negatives send me into a tailspin. Like "Disable description keys", True or False. Huh? Why not just say, "Description Keys", on or off?

Photoshop :: Resizing Images With Resizing Tool
Dec 12, 2012I need to be able to re-size images that are large than 1MB in order to put them on our MLS site.
My previous computer had 2 arrow icons on the desktop.
One was for re-sizing horizontal pics and the other for re-sizing vertical pics.
I could simply drag/drop the image file onto these re-sizing icons and they would be re-sized.
The smaller file size thumbnail would appear on the desktop.
How can I get these re-sizing tools on my new computer's desktop?
I am using CS6.

Nov 7, 2012When adding data to a surface, there is the option to add it as a "Non-destructive" breakline. [URL] .....
What is this good for? I created a surface, copied it, and created a volume surface between the two of them. As expected, the resultant volume was 0.
I then draw a 3d polyline and snapped to elevations on the surface. I then took that 3d polyline and moved it up 5'. I then added that breakline to the surface as a "Non-destructive" breakline and the resultant volume between the original surface and the one modified with the new breakline was still 0. Absolutely no change was made to the actual surface, it just added additional triangles.
I'm trying to find a reason it's even option and I'm coming up blank. There has to be SOME reason it's there.

Aug 19, 2003I designed a form in photoshop for somebody. I chose A4 size for the canvas from the preset sizes, but the problem is that I need to send it to the other person to print (I don't have a printer and they don't have photoshop).
I thought I'd save it as an image and send it to them to print out, but the image is huge (image->image size shows the document size as 21*29.7 cm but the pixel dimensions as 2480*3508 px).
My only choices (in the dropdown box), for changing the image size requires me to use either pixels or percent.
I'm a bit confused as to why A4 size isn't A4 when you convert it to an image. Please could someone give me some pointers as to how I can change my PSD to an image that is A4 size,

Jun 13, 2013For years I was using an older version of PS. I am new to CS6 Photoshop. I cannot figure out how to resize a text box. When I chose the box with the text tool, the borders of the box do not show up. To see the border I must hold down the option + command keys. I cannot change the size of the box without scaling the type.
Also, when I click the box with the move tool, I cannot see the border of the text box. I cannot even copy the text box.

Jan 25, 2012This is something that I've been able to do without a problem in the past and now something has happened where it no longer works. When I insert a picture either into a new blank file or onto another picture and then click on the new picture to resize, it appears that the tool sees only the original document and not the photograph that I've just dragged onto it. It does not show the dotted line selection or the resize handles. Also when I try to use the resize menu option in either canvas or image option it changes the whole document and not the new photograph.

Sep 21, 2008This has been "bugging" me for a while.
1) Open a raw file (.CR2)
2) output the file to JPG or open directly
===> i.e. the resulting image is 3888 x 2592
3) use Automate > Fit Image
===> i.e. 1200 pixels (reducing the image by a factor of 3.24)
======> The result should be 1200 x 800 pixels
However the batch conversion would be result in 1200 x 801 pixel.
Even if I were to add a step 2.5 as follows
2.5) image > image size > 1200 x 800
After automate > Fit Image (1200) it would still result in 1200 x 801 pixels!
What's broken with photoshop?
The only fix I've stumbled across so far would be to use an external programme to strip all the exif and attached metadata, only then would the "Fit Image" script work.
Having one extra pixel doesn't really matter most of the times, but it's does get on my nerves.
Advice sought: How can I fix this?
