I hope that there would be an option in the future to crop an image in lightroom, then when you open to "edit in photoshop" the image would be cropped using photoshop new non destructive crop. So that i can tweak color and retouch the whole image then close and i can do final cropping back in LR.
View 3 RepliesI've wrapped my head around how to reclaim the stripped-out portion of an image that has been non-destructively cropped in CS6: click the image with the crop tool, or select Reveal All from the Image menu. Short of doing this every time I suspect that I may have cropped an image, is there anything in Photoshop's interface to tell me at a glance if the image has been non-destructively cropped? I guess I could check the document dimensions in the pop-up status display at the bottom of the window, but I'm looking for something more direct that doesn't make me search.

it seems that you will not be able to generate such a graphic using the default settings in photoshop.
I am right now using the maximum number of colors allowable in the 'save for web' optimization tool (which is 256 for both jpg and gif apparently) I know JPGs are the file type for the job generally speaking, but without optimization the JPG is too large to use for a web page header.
when I select the crop tool, my image disappears during the entire crop process. I can only see the image in the preview pane. Why is this happening? I am using the most current version of Lightroom, and I am on a PC.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn just one image this would be a no brainer, I'd just use the paint brush or similar tool to wipe over a section I want covered and use the crop tool to get the image size and position I'm after. The thing is though, I'd like to do the same edit and crop to a series of photos to keep them all consistent and it's beyond me how to do that in PS5. I find tips on using scripts, batch processing or stacking images that seem to defy the English language and don't address the two simple little things I want to do to these images.
Any resource, that could accomplish what I'd like to think should be a simple task for such an expensive program?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a logo in Illustrator (CS6), then used a mask to cover parts of it.
Next, I placed the logo into the flyer on InDesign.
Everything works fine until I export it to a PDF, where the part that is masked shows up as opaque.
I checked in Acrobat -- the mask is preserved on there. My concern, however, is that I want to publish the flyer digitally as well.
My question is how can I shrink down a layer (of a car for example) and then enlarge it again without the car beeing pixelized?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI want to use the burn tool for a special effect but I want to do it on a new layer, I've read all about making a new layer set to overlay mode with 50% grey but this produces a different effect than when I burn the backround layer.
When using burn>highlights>15% on skin colour I get a grey kind of burn which is perfect but it destroys the pixles but when using the non-destructive method I get dark red effect which is not what im looking for.
I'm not using the burn tool in the typical sense (to darken part of the picture) I use the highlight/midtone/shadows seperate to create a very specific special effect with the burn tool.
Is there a way to make non destructive adjustments to a layer mask?

Having cropped my view I then go into the browser to edit the crop (edit sketch), the lines on the crop window will not move and I am unable to edit the selection, why is this not working ? Occasionaly I can move / resize one or two of the crop boundry lines but never all of them.

I'm working on a collage, and I'm not sure if Illustrator, InDesign or PS would be the best application to use.
I've got 7 sheets of paper, each with a bunch of black and white line drawings, that I've scanned into seven PDFs. I need to be able to select, cut, paste, resize, rotate, and move around each of the little drawings onto one big artboard - about 150 little drawings total.
I did this once in Illustrator already, and I learned the hard way that the "transform" tool also changes image resolution - I scaled the individual drawings down just so I could fit them all on the page, and when I tried to scale them back up again to make the layout look nice, they were extremely pixilated. I'd like to avoid this time loss the second time around!
What is the best way to select all of the little drawings from the larger PDF, copy, and paste into a new master document, erase the white background, and then manipulate the layout?
Is there any way to put a non-destructive cap on color saturation, the way you can shelf frequencies above or below a certain level in audio engineering?
In other words, an adjustment layer that would limit all saturation values over X to.. well.. X.
Example : Let's say we set it to 80% max. Pixels with saturation levels of 80 or below remain untouched. Pixels with saturation levels over 80 are re-adjusted to 80.
(Simply lowering the saturation levels via an adjustment layer will lower everything, including portions that are already below the desired cap. We don't want that.)
When setting a URL link to selected text in a text object, the link style (blue w/ underline) is not preserved after save, close & reopening. The url is still set if you select the same text.The biggest issue is when publishing to PDF, those links do not get published as it did in previous versions of CorelDRAW. This breaks thousands of our documents when publishing to pdf since we have upgraded from X3 to X6. This is a show stopper for us using X6.

Case in point:
Why does the check box say "Non-destructive breakline?" Why doesn't it say, "Erase tin lines that cross boundary?" I doesn't seem to have anything to do with breaklines. Or am I wrong on that one?
While I'm on a roll, double negatives send me into a tailspin. Like "Disable description keys", True or False. Huh? Why not just say, "Description Keys", on or off?

I'm running on LR 5.3, but this problem persisted in LR 5.2. Working in PS CS6 and Camera Raw 8.3. RAWs are NEFs from a Nikon D600.
I can't figure out what happened but suddenly I am not getting prompts when moving from LR to PS to "Edit Original" or "Edit a Copy".
I reset all dialog warnings and nothing. The prompt will appear for TIFFs but not for NEFs.
It's kind of pointless to not be able to choose to edit an original or copy with LR adjustments for a RAW when they are the file types that retain my RAW editing information.
Plus, when I do click on a NEF and choose to edit in PS without the prompt (it will appear with lightroom adjustments, not as original), it will open a second icon for photoshop on my dock, and prompt me to continue trial? I have a version of PS installed with the serial plugged in, and in LR "edit in PS" for a TIFF will open this primary version.
When adding data to a surface, there is the option to add it as a "Non-destructive" breakline. [URL] .....
What is this good for? I created a surface, copied it, and created a volume surface between the two of them. As expected, the resultant volume was 0.
I then draw a 3d polyline and snapped to elevations on the surface. I then took that 3d polyline and moved it up 5'. I then added that breakline to the surface as a "Non-destructive" breakline and the resultant volume between the original surface and the one modified with the new breakline was still 0. Absolutely no change was made to the actual surface, it just added additional triangles.
I'm trying to find a reason it's even option and I'm coming up blank. There has to be SOME reason it's there.
I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)

The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before

I right click and go through the edit menu and does not appear or is not available? Would I have to reopen it manual in photoshop or is there a way around this to access that setting? it sometimes does not appear on my already edited photos.
I would prefer not to open each photo again, as some files i do not have and were imported into the document with another computer.

However, if I go to the Print module my picture dimensions are showing correct so I go to print and it prints a totally different size. Is it a bug with 4.4 or with me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am missing a crop tool which can rotate the crop rectangle. Similar to photoshop's tool. I found no way to rotate the crop rectangle in gimp. How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.
