Photoshop :: Move Layer To Certain Coordinate Automating?
Aug 1, 2013
how can you automate the process so that photoshop always moves the layer to a certain coordiante i.e. to point X:1424 Y:2370 and not move them relatively i.e X: -372 Y: +124 but always places them to that same certain point.
I want to import the attached file to cypecad for structural analysis. It mandatary that lower left corner of drawing should be moved at (0,0,0). How to do that?
If i want to move 2D objekts with basepoint to the coordinate 0,0,0 - what i have to do?
In other PC older Autocad was it simply command "move", selecting objects, pointing basepoint and then typing "0,0,0" and object were there! Now the object doesnt move atall. (Can move only to showing second point in screen-but thisway its not possible to catsh exactly point 0,0,0).
I am using the trial version of CS5 (probably going to upgrade at the end of the trial), and I've only found one thing about it that I don't like more than CS3. This is VERY VERY annoying, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch, or just a preference that needs to be reset:
When using the move tool, I will move something and it will just snap back to where it originally was. When it snaps back, it might move a few pixels over in the direction I was dragging, but it is definitely not moving to where I want it to go. The only way to get things to move the way I want to is by Free Transform...but it's annoying, when you're trying to design a layout, to have to free transform every element you want to move, first.
I'm guessing that this is a glitch because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't...it's pretty random. I've tried turning Snap on and off, and nothing changes.
I could have sworn that in previous versions of Photoshop, before version CS4, that if there was a link icon between the layer thumbnail and the layer mask on that same layer, if you move one or the other, they both move. In CS4, how do you move the layer pixels and the layer mask at the same time so that they stay lined up?
Say I have 2 items, one is on layer "M-Duct" and the other on "M-Pipe" (they are in the same drawing). Any lisp routine that would create the layers "M-Duct-New" and "M-Pipe-New" (based on the same color and LT as the original layers) and then move those objects to the newly created layers?
I am using Photoshop CS and have been assigned a rather tedious task at the office, consisting of resizing hundreds of pictures. Rather than doing them all manually, I've tried to automate the batch using a set of actions I "recorded", but for some reason all the pictures keep getting saved as the same one under a different name.
The set of actions I recorded were as follows:
-Open -> Open image file
-Image Size -> Width: xx pixels, height: yy pixels
-Save
-Close
When choosing automated batch, I choose the source folder and destination folder in an attempt to not get into a mess of naming/renaming files,
I have a plug-in that does a kinda overall correction and need to do it in batches. The problem is, when I go to make the action, I have to have an image open to open the plug-in. That's OK, but whenever I've done that, then go to Automate>Batch and select input and output folders, it uses the same image over and over.
what i would like to do is to export each window, to separate files, with the white parts cropped. i can do it manually by using the magic wand on the white area in between, then inversing the selection. that way all the windows are selected perfectly. but to save each one as a separate file is a nuisance.
by the way the purpose of this task is to get a comic i have scanned to an ipod for viewing. i can do the cropping/resizing afterwards no troubles, it's just getting the individual 'windows' as separate files.
So, I have a layer which I made a rounded rectangle and then used ctrl + alt + t to transform and set it to 30 degrees and used alt + drag on the transformation pivot point
then I used ctrl + alt + shift + t to duplicate the rounded rectangle around that point and then ... I relocated this layer above an other layer w/a circle on it and used ctrl + alt + g to create a clipping mask
Now ... is where I am stuck ...
I'm suppose to "split each path into a separate layer" .... um. what?
Okay, I realize that each of the rounded rectangles has its own path ... but how to go about putting each one on a separate layer and I cannot find it in the manual
how do i move the object i selected with magic wand to another layer in a different page like i tried but when i tried it didn't let me instead it didn't even move the other layer look for yourself.

I tried doing the same thing this guy did in this video

Skip the video all the way to 1:25 where he moves the object.
I'm an intermediate PS user with v. CS2. I've figured out how to automate the process of changing an images file size and adding an extension to the file name but I haven't been able to figure out how to save those files using the automation process.
If I try to include the save process during my action, it will always save with that file name no matter what file it's saving.
how do I add a "save file" step to my action so I can automate this process with many images?
I was successful in following tutorial instructions to move one file into another, but one day later, I cannot drag a new file from the active window into another file. Have I inadvertently changed some setting?
I'm trying to line up two images one on top of the other with opacity set so I can see both.in Liquefy (CS4). One is background, the other is Layer 1. How do I move either one roughly in place over the other so I can start adjusting edges so the two profiles match? Hand doesn't move anything.
After creating a duplicate layer of a stroke, I then click the thumbnail of an existing layer (where I want to move the copied layer to) while holding the control key, I see the image with marching ants border, and attempt the move the copied layer. I get the following message ' the request could not be completed because the sourse and the destination documents are the same.
If I drag an effect from the target circle of one object to anther in the layer's panel it replaces the effect along with all appearance. But I want just to add the effect. For example, a layer has a drop shadow and a path, round corners. I want to move the drop shadow from the layer to the path so that the path now has the round corners and the drop shadow. To do this I have to open the shadow effect of the layer wright down its parameters, then create a shadow effect for the path with the same parameters which is a lot of work.
I have over 600 images of trees. What I need to do is figure out the dimensions of each tree's crown (not the trunk, so select all the foliage and record the dimensions. Is there a way to automate the process so that I don't have to manually mask it or select it for each of the 600+ files or is it something I have to do manually?
Recently upgraded from CS2 --> CS5 in windows. This issue started with that upgrade. Been using PS for years. In my large PSD files I use folders to logically-group layers. With CS5, when I put layers into a folder, it automatically groups the layers (not links, groups). When trying to move the contents on ONE LAYER in a folder (using the mouse).... it moves ALL the layers in the folder.
If I use the keyboard ARROW keys, I can move the contents of one layer in a folder independently of the other layers in the folder.I have not explicitly asked PS to group or link ANYTHING in my file. The default seems to be to GROUP layers in a folder. It did not used to be this way.
If I UNGROUP the layers in the folder, it deletes the folder and the layers are now all at the root level. I lose my organization. The only way to get around this is either:
(1) leave the folder grouped and use the keyboard arrow keys to move the contents on one layer (way too cumber some), or
(2) MOVE the layer out of the folder, move the contents of it, then move the layer back into the folder.
I'm having an issue trying to move the camera view in cs6 extended using a 3d Layer. Here's the idea:
1. Create a 3D Layer extrusion / mesh primitive. 2. I select the current view item in 3D Panel / click outside model. 3. The border frame appears yellow. 4. When I select the Move tool, I can only rotate around the y axis, can't rotate up or down. Can't roll the camera, move or slide either using the other move tool modes. 5. I can adjust the co-ordinates properties for the current view and it works OK. 6. Object /light transforms work OK.
I'm testing on 13.0.1, mac 10.7.4. I had the same problem on another machine on 10.6.8 on v 13.0 last week that fixed itself, but not sure how .
I am using Creative Suite 5.5 on my MacBook Pro...and today had issues demonstrating the simple process of dragging one person/image onto another, applying a quick mask to do some simple morphing.
But...one, I couldn't drag the image from the internet and drop onto the project, but had to go to Edit and copy, then create a new file and hit paste. Placing one image side by side to another...I was not able to drag the image of one person to drop onto the other. I either had to use the marquee tool, drag around the image, copy and paste or...found I could drag the image from its layer in the layer's palette and drop onto the project.
More frustrating was that once I had both images in the same project, I was not able to move the new person/image added to locate in right position over the background person/image. I would drag it to that new location, and it would snap back to the original location. Obviously the need to take any image added and move it around to orchestrate your image is important.
I have asked a number of artist friends, checked the mode (both images are RGB) and both images at 8 bits...
I presume it is a simple command that will release the image to stay where located using the Move tool...but am not familiar enough with Suite 5.5 obviously.
I always paste an image on a layer then select the layer and use the Move Tool to move it around until it is placed where I want it. Now I paste the image, select the layer, choose the Move Tool and the layer selection jumps to another layer and that one gets moved. (CS5)?
When I attempt to use the move tool to move a layer, as I grab the object in that layer, the move tool suddenly switches to the highest most layer, not the layer I selected. I can't seem to change this and this only started happening recently.
So I am adding a leaf to the waterfall image. The leaf is on it's own layer with a layer mask, and was moved into position without a problem. A drop shadow was added with Layer Styles, but when trying to move the layer again, the mask moved, but the layer stayed behind.
I checked for Auto select, which was off. I unlinked the mask, tested, relinked the mask, and tested again. Same problem. Eventually it started working OK after I tried moving with first the layer active, and then the mask active, and swapping this state about three times. I could not get it to misbehave again after this.
Nothing was locked. Auto select was off. Other layers all moved OK. I can find no explanation, and think of no user error (touch wood).
I try to move text in a layer with the move tool. I highlight the text layer, select the move tool, and move the tool to the text. As soon as I click on the layer with my mouse, the highlight moves to an image layer below the text layer. I can move the text using the arrow keys, but that takes forever.
