I am trying to make my clans forum signatures and am trying to make a light and shiny metalframe around it.
All I can manage is to make a small one. Off course I can make it larger, but I don't like the way it look. I want one with more shine and bright (real) look.
First one TBH looks kinda crappy because someone had a heavy finger while he was masking this. But how the piece of background on the right was made? Some grunge brush + masking or it's just a filter/effect?

Now, this one kicks ass IMO and it's not so hard to do exept the left side - how how how?

Yeah, guess what. I don't think that the yellow light was originally on the render which has been used, how to make that and the reflects?
Can anyone recommend a good Illustrator forum. This forum has been invaluable to me and I was hoping to find something similar that covered Illustrator.
So i have made a mockup of a forum skin i want to code in photoshop and later on im most likley going to slice it and code it in dreamweaver. I just wanted to know if you need to slice text or do you just slice the background that it goes on and write the text in the code itself.
Quick question if I may, I was trying to make a Sig for another forum and was wondering... How do I keep the background (outer edges) transparent instead of having a boxed in look. GIF doesnt seem to work, it stays white but im guessing im doing something wrong? I'm decent with photoshop btw, just not so hot on web posting. You can get technical if needed.
I started a thread on Windows/ Photoshop entitled "CS4 with a high resolution screen". People have replied to this, according to e-mail direct response. However, it is not on the list of forums, and neither does it appear on 'search'.
To repeat: we have a high resolution HP LP 3065 screen, which supports up to 2560 x 1600 pixels. At this resolution, images are still less than print size, but CS4 is essentially unusable because the menu text and other icons do not scale. Does anyone know if it is possible to manage this silly interface to allow the user to see what they are doing? Is there even a visual disability option? Even MS Office 2000 - ten years old - allows "large icons".
what is the easiest way to add signature to a lot of photos? i am using photoshop 7.0. i am a novice with photoshop and i will be showing my wife, a beginer, how to this. i know i should creat an action then batch. but i have never done these.
Capture a bunch of signatures to be later used in PS for creating a collage of a sports team...each photo will have the players signature... I'd like to ideally use my i pad to capture and then move to PS where I can associate each signature with a photo, etc. The trick is to work off a list of names and be able to keep the association as a move it to PS...
File Maker Pro / Go combo will do what I want I think but its quite pricey at $150+40...was hoping some other cheaper way was possible. Obviously need to pay attention to transparency issues..Don't want to have to manually delete white backgrounds once imported, etc.
I had saved this link in my FF favorites. Just thought of sharing it here. I could not find any live link for this page on the Homepage or any other pages on the recent forum pages. I wonder why it was removed.
I just got downloaded GIMP about 3-4 days ago and I've been having some beginner problems. I can't figure out how to add a black glowing border around the signatures I've made.
For an example : [URL]........
[URL]........
(2 of 4 signatures I've made). I wanted to give each of the 2 a glowing black border or some kind of border like one of these:
I am trying to get this to really look like gold. I've played around with the curves and when I get the majority of it looking like the right color, the lighter spots where light reflected off of the piece get far to white. I run into the same problem with duplicating the backround layer and changing the blend mode to screen. Any thoughts?
I'm trying to make it for around 800x wide by say 500 high.. with a bigger hole. Its going to be an interface for a website but I cant seem to make it look right when its that big. The gradients look unrealistic for me when its that big.
Mine is a little more crisp than this picture on this website, because I don't know really what I'm doing. Of course that could be my problem with this knob. However, I followed the directions exactly, but I didn't get too close to how The Keeper did it. I'm using Photoshop 7. 0.
1. I try to engrave text in metal but that Emboss only brings text up (out) of background. Didn't find normal tutorial which would look like i want. Mostly they don't look engrave.
2. Got a "missunderstanding" with text on path. Coundn't get in right direction. I got circle around which i want text. But by default it goes outside circle. If make full round around circle text at bottom is upside-down. I need something like that but without transformation:
I have KPT 5, and I see that it says that KPT needs to be updated to 5.01...and I looked everywhere to find the update...can anyone show me a link, or send me the file or something? I really want to use that Pank Metal, but I cant with KPT 5.
I've been trying to get this effect of metal pipes for a website interface but i'm stuck ! i've searched for some tutorials but all i found were normal metallic pipes (straight) and/or none-metallic pipes...so i'm posting here hoping maybe someone can help me out... Code:
I came across this very nice graphic a while back, and was wondering how they got the soft flat metal look. I'm told it's gradients and highlights, but I'm not sure exactly how they're done (my efforts didn't pan out).
