Photoshop :: List Of Folders That Are Not Backed Up
Aug 18, 2012Is there a list of folders that don't needs to be backed up. For example it wouldn't seem to make sense to backup any files that could be restored from the program disk.

Nov 29, 2011I have a set of collections that I had thought were missing, but I now see them under Smart Collections. How do I move that set up to the top level and out from under 'Smart Collections'. They are not smart collections - I created them by creating a set of nested folders and then setting a target collection and working through the thumbnails clicking 'Add to target collection'.
All works well but the folders are not at the top level of the Collections list.

Aug 26, 2013Now that the transfer is complete and you cannot log into Photoshop.com will any new photos be backed up to Revel automatically? I am still only using Elements 9 from my PC, I do not have a smart phone and I could not find and app for Adobe Revel for my Kindle Fire HD. Will I have to do my only uploading to Revel each time?
I was able to successfully log into Revel to see my photos and albums after much searching through the discussion forums but I think there could have been better information or tutorials for those of us who are novices in the use of todays technologies.

Apr 16, 2013I'm using Elements 11 and just completed a full backup I selected the external hard drive and used the default name "my catalog". When I look on the external drive I can't find the photos or the my catalog file. Is it named differently?

Oct 30, 2012I'm currently dealing with a few issues with my PC, and it may be that I'll need to have it repaired, which might mean that I'll need to re-install applications such as LR once it's been fixed. I therefore want to ensure that all of my files are protected.
I currently have a solid system for backing up my photo files, so there are no problems there, and I also make regular backups of the catalogue to a seperate drive, so again I have no concerns with losing the catalogue itself. I also keep a backup of the preferences file, just in case I need to trash the one in use so I can then easily recover by replacing it with my copy. The one missing link is that I don't really make any backups of the various presets (having said this, Windows does back them up on a monthly basis).
I figure that, if I need to do a clean re-install, I can drop my prefs file into the relevant folder, overwriting the current one, and that I would just need to have a copy of the presets folder and do the same thing with that... Is my thinking correct here?
When I say presets, I don't just means ones in Develop, I mean things like settings for print templates, export presets, etc. I really don't want to risk losing these and having to set them all up again from scratch.
Lightroom :: Catalogue Cannot Be Used Or Backed Up Until It Is Repaired
Dec 6, 2011My power just went out while I was importing files from my camera, and now it is saying that my catalogue can not be used or backed up until it is repaired, and it can not be repaired at this time, and tells me to choose a different catalogue, but I don't have a different one, what do I do?

Nov 12, 2013Is there a way to have the organizer folders set up the same was as Windows Explorer? I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.
Lightroom :: How To Recover Missing Folders After Merging Two Annual Folders
May 25, 2013I had two 2013 folders, each with about 100 daily folders. The dates were differnt in each annual folder. I dragged one into the other. The folder where the daily folder was dragged from is now empty but those folders do not appear in the recieving folder. All the photos are still in the catalog, but do not show in the folders (left side panel).

I can't work on pictures from these folders - I get the message: File named xxx is offline or missing. It does not sync the parent folder. Nor does it sync the folder it self. Dec 10, 2011I am using LR3. I appear to be digging a massive hole for myself trying to sort out the catalog. When I first got LR, I had initially added just a small number of files just to see how LR worked. At this time I was still completing sorting out my full photo collection in 'my pictures' which were also copied to two external hard drives. Once that work was completed, I imported a complete folder (some 4000 images) into LR. The folder/subfolders appeared in the folders panel but the sub folders I had initially imported were displayed with a ? and a message 'file is missing or offline' Going down the road of 'find missing folder' eventually led to my problems.
About 6 sub folders are involved so I eventually took the decision that it could be easier just to remove them so I could then re-import them from 'my pictures'. That hasn't worked out as planned. When I go into 'file' to import photos from 'my pictures' the missing sub folders are there but the images are 'greyed' as well as the import button. When I put the cursor onto one of the greyed-out images the message 'appears to be a duplicate of another photo already in catalog' appears.
how I can restore the 'missing' sub folders into the folders panel.

Aug 12, 2012I just did a clean install of Photoshop CS6 and I notice it created a Presets folder here:
HardDrive > Users > "Me" > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CS6 > Presets
(the only other folder in that location is one named "AutoRecover")
Of course, I also have my normal customized Presets in the following location:
HardDrive > Applications > Adobe Photoshop CS6 > Presets
I have always used/modified my presets in the second location listed - so what is the bare-bones Presets folder for in Application Support? What is that needed?

Oct 20, 2012Can't believe it makes one iota of difference but am using WIN7.Is there any reason not to delete old folders in Lightroom and PS when I upgrade or install later versions.
