I have Photoshop CS 5.1 running on Windows 7. When I resize a layer using the Free Transform function, the image "Pixilates" and looses sharpness. I have used this feature before on my computer without a problem.  I took my work to school to show my instructor. I did the same thing on the school's Apple without problem. What am I doing wrong?

When I use the rectangular selection tool on the layer and go to resize or move the selection with the move resize pixel tool instead of moving or resizing the selected area I get blank rectangle that moves or resizes. The selected area just stays the same.

This would allow making a whole bunch of items (each on their own layer), then moving/re-sizing/whatever the whole group of layers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy, when you downsample a picture (say from 300 to 72 dpi) does it look look pixellated, even though it is scaled down in Indesign and the effective DPI is well over 300.
I am using little icons that are clipped out photos they will be printed at about a quarter inch. These icons are on a bunch of calendars so they are placed in Indesign hundreds of times. Their actual size was originally about 5 inches at 300 dpi -- wayyyy larger than necessary for the final printed size.

I need to downsize them, without have to adjust each one in the ID document as they are already placed. I can do this by downsampling them in PS, from 300 to 72 dpi and not change the dimensions.But when I do this, even though they are so small in the ID document, they still look pixelated.
I made an image for the Ironshop comp. and I made it just a tiny bit too big. I figured out the hard way that you also get quality loss when you scale an image down. My specs are 4454px. x 3345px., 61" x 46", and 72 ppi. I understand that my image should be 800px. x 600px., and Ive tried to up the pixels per inch, but it ends up very pixelated and jaggy.

When done, they will be enlarged to poster size (18 in x 24 in). I have tried to save them in a variety of formats, but every time I do, they come out very pixelated when they print in poster size. (The originals look fine in the larger size.) how to maintain the image quality so they will look decent when they are enlarged to print?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe files I am creating in photoshop are all coming out very pixelated lately. Especially after I flatten the image or export it to a pdf. This is true even for text layers, eps files I placed, and vector-based objects I drew. The photo layers are pixelated too, even though they were hi-res to begin with and I only made them smaller when I added them to my document. Why everything is so pixelated? I tried changing the file from 72 to 300 pixels/inch, but that didn't clarify the images. It just smoothed the edges a bit.

I have a Nvidia Quadro 6000 running in combination with a tesla c2075 there was not any problem i could see with other CS6 programs and it was working fine with CS5.

Then I switched to Direct3D and the image is crystal clear. Why is that? How can I make images in Nitrous show that clear? I tried modifying the 3dsmax.ini file but changing the texture limit values had absolutely no effect.

i created a logo in adobe illustrator cc and i wanted to saved it for web in order to be able to copy and paste the logo where ever I wanted but the image looks extremely pixelated after saving as an png, and for web.

When I select a layer and look at the info panel, I see that the layer height and width is shown apparently by default in percentages. Specifically 100% Height and 100% Width.

I would prefer that the Info panel show height and width in Pixels instead of Percentages. Finally, after seeing the height and width in Pixels I want to change the height by entering the height in pixels. How can I do that?

I don't want to use a "ruler" to do this, I just want to be able to enter the pixels (height and width) that I want the layer to b resized. For example when selecting a rectangle that is currently 100 pixels tall and 50 pixels wide, I want to be able to just change 50 pixels wide by entering (in a field) 25 to make it 25 pixels wide.

In Fireworks I resize by pixels all the time. But can't find a similar method in Photoshop.

I am using photoshop CS2. on a mac OS X.
When i make changes to other layers in the layers pallete, it changes my 'background' as well. I know that i can duplicate it but regardless, the 'background' changes according to what i do to the other layers even tho it is locked.
I have a pdf which is approx 25 pages, the original dimensions are 2500 x 2500. The pages are made up of text over artwork and I need to be able to resize the entire artwork and text to 384 x 512. Or the aspect ratio matching the same like 2048 x 1536. So far I converted the pdf to separate pdfs and opened each in Illustrator CS6 and need to first make the artwork smaller and then the text. Is there a set way to do this as I already tried creating a new doc in ai set for the new dimensions and copying and pasting the artwork. This is not that hard as the artwork I can manipulate but the problem is the text where some of it has strokes and other paths that make up each letter. I tried to ungroup but having a hard time. Would be great if I could just lift the text and just scale down.

Sometimes (not always) when I click a layer in the layer menu and try to move it with the move tool, it jumps to a different layer (not to the one I selected) and moves that one instead. Now, this is only if I move it with my mouse. If I move it with the keyboard, it works fine.Â

Also, if it starts doing this with a layer, it will continue to do it with that layer forevermore. Even when I close the program and re-open it again. Or if I save it as a diffeent filename. If I duplicate the layer, it will do it on both the original layer I was having trouble with and the new copy of that layer. I can also merge it down with a blank layer and it'll retain the problem in the new, merged layer.Â

It's annoying to have to move the affected layers with the arrow key.Â

I did find a mention of this problem on a mac, but the solution did not seem to apply to a PC.Â
I'm having an issue with Photoshop crashing when I move layers up or down. I'm using a macbook with lion.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create a collage. I set a feather value, make a selection out of a 2nd image and paste it into another file. Pastes in fine, but when I try and grab the corner of the pasted layer and resize it to be smaller, for some reason (I have done this approach on 20 other occasions), it doesn't resize as a rectangle as it should. It starts to resize as an octagon type shape. The following link shows an example of a freshly pasted layer that I tried to resize. There must be some setting that got changed because I have done this across four different versions of paint shop

I am trying to fix the above picture to the canvas .I have a background picture downloaded from the net, the picture fills the default size of the paint.net canvasand is 110 Kbyte, the two pictures I want to insert on the picture are 121 Kbyte and 1.4 Mbts.As soon as I insert the 1.4Mb picture on to the background picture this resizes it's self and shoot up to the left hand top corner of the canvas, how can I fix it so that it remains it's original position.

In previous versions of Photoshop, I could simply drag vector masks from one layer to another, just like other layer masks. Now (with CS6) I have to do a convoluted copy an paste, switching back and forth between the layers panel and the paths panel.

I have created a layer and copied it to a new layer. I want the copied layer to completley cover the eixisintg layer but it won't move right to the edges, it leaves an outline of the previous layer. How can I get it to completelety cover the layer?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using PS7 for a long time and this has never happened before. One minute things were fine and then something changed. Maybe I hit a combination of keys .... well here's the issue. I type text onto a blank layer. I try to move the text. In the pallette, the cursor drops off the text layer, and onto the background, instead. In order to move the text, I wind up clicking on it numerous times, or if I click on it very slowly, I can grab it to move it. This is not how it was working just yesterday. I'm sure this sounds confusing, I'm just not sure how to describe it any better. (It's not my mouse, I tried a different one.) I tried Adobe's help site and saw this:"Clicking in an image with a type tool puts the type tool in edit mode. You can enter and edit characters when the tool is in edit mode; however, you must commit changes to the type layer before you can perform some operations. To determine if a type tool is in edit mode, look in the options bar--if you see the Commit button (a check)Â and Cancel button (circle with slash), the type tool is in edit mode."

Background: I didn't move the adjusted photos into the final space in the right way in this, my first venture into CS 4, and know that now. However, when I DO try to move new photos I have adjusted and properly transferred them via Edit>merged and Edit>paste to the final place and try to move <i>those images</i>, the same thing happens! I need to know how to overlap images for placement.
