Photoshop :: JPEG Image On HDTV?
Apr 17, 2013
I'm new to this kind of advertising media. I'm creating these 1920 x 1080 @ 96dpi Photoshop images that has black text on white background that are viewed on a LCD HDTV.
The images are saved out as Jpegs at the highest quality setting. When I view the image on the HDTV, I see all kinds of artifacts around text. (See attached image sample that I shot with a digital camera of the HDTV screen.) Let me add that I do not see any of the artifacts around the text when I view the Jpeg image on my computer's monitor.
So is this something inherit to this kind of media? Or I'm I missing a setting somewhere? It would be nice if I could diminish the artifacts to a lesser amount at least.

I'm producing a video in 1080p HD. I'm having an artist create a number of anatomical drawings and want to zoom in on portions of the drawings for some scenes. The artist plans to work with Adobe Illustrator CS5 and Photoshop CS5 to create the drawings, and will create layers I can use to animate the drawings. That is, I'll put a layer in motion over a background to create animation.
I've found the photoshop FILM & VIDEO 1080p/29.97 preset will allow the artist to create high quality images that will work when filling the frame, but I also want to zoom in on the images in Adobe Premiere CS5.
Are there different Photoshop/Illustrator settings I can have the artist use to create higher resolution drawings that will stay in high enough resolution for zooming in at 2x or 3x after I import them to Premiere?

I am trying to find a faster way to save my images. I shoot in raw, save raw images as jpegs after editing them in Camera Raw. I am using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac version 10.7.5. When I save, I either have to save as a copy of the exisiting image, or replace the image I'm working on. Other forums I've read said to make an action to save and create a function key to make this process faster, but my function keys aren't working, and playing the action I've created still makes a copy of the image.

When you reduce the image quality of a jpeg image , How exactly is it reducing the quality? is it applying file compression , reducing bit depth or is it reducing the sampling rate of the image? or anything close to the above....

I just got CS6 and have been working on some new images in RAW. Once I finished the editing I wanted to do in RAW, I saved the image as a JPEG, then clicked "open image" at the bottom of the RAW window.
The image that came up in Photoshop looked nothing like my edited RAW image. It's as if none of the edits ever occurred.

My image in photoshop has thin lines, but when I save it, the jpeg shows the image with very thick dark lines, looking not like the image in photoshop. Why does it do this? How can I stop PS from doing this to my image? I want the image to look as it does in Photoshop when I save it as a Jpeg.
This is in Photoshop CS4
As it should be (using the snipping tool (I can't use the snipping tool as my only option, because it will only capture the size as it is on the screen, not the actual dimensions in Photoshop)
Saved as a Jpeg; the lines are thicker, and now there is little variation in line weight.

I've used photoshop to paint for many years (I'm a production artist for children's television) and never had this kind of thing before. It could be a total coincidence, but it seemed only to get like this since I upgraded to Production premium CS6.
I have the newest Nvidia drivers, the latest photoshop and production suite updates. I've tried turning off GPU acceleration and I've calibrated my monitors and cintiq several times using the Spyder 3 Elite calibration tools. I've created 8bit, 16bit and 32bit images and the problem persists no matter what. Other stats:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1 20120808.r.519 2012/08/08:21:00:00) x64
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M
This is a 16bit image saved as a jpeg, but still a relatively accurate example of what I see in photoshop. In fact it looks better here. It was created using a low opacity brush with hardness set to zero.

I have Photoshop CS2, and I'm looking to make a jpg/jpeg image to texture a VRML model with - The graphic needs to be semi-transparent, as I need the nurb's Material color to show through it. I appreciate that a png image would offer a solution to this problem instantly, but this format is not usable in the situation offered... On the same note, gif format is also out of the equation because it offers only transparency, or no transparency.
If you look at this image ChromeBall.jpg it is exactly what I'm looking to achieve (but not with this image). When I add levels of opacity to the jpg image I want to be semi-transparent, the background of the image shows up as being 'white' whether I save as, or save for web.

I have a low resolution image 'A' from someone that has been jpg'd, perhaps a few times. It has pixels that are visible without too much effort, and edges to objects that are not regularly stepped, say 3px wide then 1px down in places (lets call this vari-stepped). Studying the image, the pixels are in fact formed into blocks or squares of pixels.
I now have taken into this image part of another far better image 'B' and need to make it look like it belongs there. Adjusting colours and focus and softening edges is one thing, but it needs that jpg artefacting adding. Simply dealing with the addition beforehand and lowering its resolution doesnt do it, as the resulting pixels are not blocky, edges are not vari-stepped. The jpg feel to it is not there.
What controls can I use to achieve this on the image in that layer after its brought in, with Photoshop CS2 or even P'shop 7 which I still use as I prefer layer links there ! By working in the image I can compare effects to the recipient image. Perhaps only the latest Pshop has what I need ?
Pixelate filter is not enough, its too crude, lowest setting is too much, it doesnt do the blocky look, or the vari-steps.
Getting a better image 'A' is not an option.
It would be great to have an ability to tell P'shop to analyse the image 'A' and apply settings to make image 'B' the same.

when saving an image as a JPEG I would click "Save As", select my folder and the Image Quality dialog box would pop up and I would then select 12/Maximum as the image quailty and hit "OK". Thereafter, every time I saved an image, Photoshop applied the same settings as the previous save i.e., 12/Maximum was pre-selected and I would just hit OK and move to my next image.
However, since yesterday Photoshop is no longer pre applying the last setting used and is defaulting to quality 8/High every time. Si everytime I save, I am now having to slide the slider to 12 which is kind of interrupting my work flow.
I have tried delete my preferences settings in the hope that this glitch would be fixed by resetting the program, but the problem persists.

I already know how to remove backgrounds from images, and create a transparent background. However, I need to be able to use the resulting image in another program called Scratch. And as far as I know, it does not accept .tiff, .pgn, .psd or gifs.
How do I completely remove that background so that it doesn't show up white in other programs when I save it as a .jpeg?
