View 1 RepliesI'm having problems printing (to an Epson 3800) on 17x25 paper (the image is 16x24 @ 240dpi). The image is not printing the full width of that it should. The odd thing is that it fills a different width every time I try to print it. I have tried multiple images and the same thing happens, so I do NOT think it is something specific to the image.
I suspect it is a problem with my printer. But after spending almost 45 minutes on the phone with Epson, they claim is must be a problem with PS (I'm using CS5 [12.0.4] on Windows Vista 64-bit, SP 2 machine). Epson support had me save the image as a JPG and print it from Windows native print util (and not PS), borderless on 17x25 paper and the printer was able to print the full width of the paper..I think it could still be a problem with their printer driver (and not a problem with the print head physically not being able to move that wide).
I've printed hundreds of prints this size with this version of CS5 on this exact same machine and printer and never had a problem bef.The "native" dimensions of the image are 2336 x 3504. I have resized it to 3864 x 5796 (which is 16.1 x 24.15 inches @ 240dpi). The first time I printed it (where this problem occurred), it printed about 12 inches wide; the 2nd time about 11 inches, the 3rd time about 13 inches. Note: the image is NOT being scaled, it is printing at full size but it just being cut off.
The weird thing is that if I size it to any of the other 4 sizes I regularly print at everything is fine (5 x 7.5 on 5.67 x 8.33 paper; 8 x 12 on 8.5 x 12.5 paper, 10 x 15 on 11 x 17 paper and 12 x 18 on 13 x 19 paper).
But the experiment the Epson tech had me do shows that the print head is not "blocked". Thus, I can only think that there is either: a) CS5 is someone putting an incorrect "bounding box" in bit stream it is sending to the printer or b) there is a problem with the Epson print driver in that it is interpreting the "bounding box" of the image incorrectly (but only when sized at 3864 x 5796)..I tried Adobe's Chat support and got nowhere and the hold time for phone support is over 2 hours..
Why is the contact- aware scale in grey and therefore unusable?
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow do I add height (say 200px) to an image without distorting what I already have on the canvas? Whenever I add an additional 200px, everything stretches. How can I just add 200px of extra white/blank space to the canvas?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a book cover that's supposed to be 6.125 x 9.25 but adobe elements 9 will only resize the width to 6.127. It has to be specific and not a millemeter off. I've tried to crop it but it resized the whole cover to half its size.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue where I'm creating a white border around two landscape oriented images that are the same exact size then doubling the width of the canvas. I've never had this issue before with PS CS6.. I tried resetting the photography workspace but no luck. I tried with two portrait oriented images and the same result. I've restarted my machine. I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64bit and I'm running PS CS6 64bit as well. Thought to do a repair through Programs and Features but there is only the option to uninstall. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary except use an action a few days ago I downloaded and used from
[URL]........
and I downloaded and used the press print action.
How I can correct this? If an image is 20 inches wide and I'm doubling it to 40 it's tripling the width to 60 inches. Is there a way I can reset every aspect of PS CS6 to get back to a factory state other than uninstalling and reinstalling?
I'm working for a client watermark his images. He has designed a watermark in PS CS6 that extends across the bottom of the image, the full width of the image. Like this:
Obviously, the images to be watermarked are all different widths and the watermark gets scaled up or down accordingly which is not the desired effect. On tall/thin images, the watermark is barely visible. Vice versa on wide or square images. I have tried many different widths of the watermark based on the widest and thinnest images. It works, but still not the desired effect for my client.
I've installed the Adobe Watermark Panel, but it seems that it wants to resize images with a width/height box on the right of the image quality and ppi boxes. (I might be reading that wrong though)
I've also tried several freeware programs. All work fine, but my client doesn't seem to think so.
So the question is, can I apply a watermark that doesn't get scaled? I know image height is a factor. I could write my own application to do it, but this seems like a re-inventing the wheel issue. I think the watermark should be scaled in height to a percentage of the image being watermarked and any excess width should be cut or truncated.
I'm always changing this to percentage. any way to default to it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to export an image of a certain width and height but when I click on export, the size doesn't remain the same. I try to change it back to the normal size but it's impossible as one number gets altered if I change the other.
I have tried with the "maintain aspect ratio" option checked and also unchecked. This has never happened before, I've always been able to export with the exact size I want, although very often I find the width and height change when I click on export but I have been able to change it back until now.
I 'm attaching images through c# using lisp _image and sendcommand in a predefined rectangle.
how can I specify width and height of the image so the image is exactly placed inside the area that I want?
(scale is not a good option because as image ratio changes scale must also change).
whats the difference between creating a width using layers and using polyline width?

View 2 Replies View RelatedTrying to use the width tool, I ran into the following problem. I would like to have a smooth transition of the stroke width between two width points while keeping the original stroke width unchanged outside of that line segment.
There are four width points here: two end points and two in between. The original stroke width is 200. The two on the left have one side set to 100 while the two on the right have one side set to 50. I would like to eliminate the distortion of the line width occuring in the first and third line segments. The only solution that I have come up with so far is to place two additional width points very close to the two middle width points: one with a 100-unit side to the left of the second point in the picture and one with a 50-unit side to the right of the third point in the picture. Yet there will be a small distirtion in between.
I created an action to change the width of an image. I execute the action using DoScript javascript method.
The first action Obj1 will select the whole image and second action Obj2 will open the transform panel and change the width of the image.
app.Open("D:LWW_Castoff45991_09_03.eps")
app.DoScript("Obj1", "LWW")
While (app.ActionIsRunning)
Thread.Sleep(500)
[Code]...
In the above code, the second action 'Obj2' is not getting executed. Both the actions are getting executed individually. Let me know the problem and how to execute both the actions.
Clicking on any of the 26 letters of the alphabet, I display the 15 logos starting with the first brand whose initial is the clicked letter.
Logos have different dimensions, but I fail recovering them, so that they are displayed stretched or squeezed, retaining the width and height of the first 15 logos put on stage in the Edge source.
Both of the two console.log in the following code produce w= 0 h = 0 :
- just after assigning the src attribute ;
- in the callback function of the load.
$('.letter').on('click', function()
{
// swap the 15 logo images

I drew a cured line with the brush tool in illustrator CS5, but when I select the new "width tool" to change the width, it doesn't work.
Here are my steps:
1. Select the paintbrush tool
2. Draw something
3. Select the "width tool"
4. Try to change the width but it won't work.
Since I draw with the paintbrush tool, the "width tool" can be very handy if I can get it to work.
Ive been messing around with the variable width tool, Im not sure I i changed something, I did try to restore defaults but when I make a change it changes the opposite side of the image. For example In screen shot I changed the width on the left and the effect showed up on the right.
I would like the width to change where I change it.
The fixed width function did not work when I wanted to draw a fixed width rectangle. Is there a new way to do this in CS6?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to have a pic finish at (width-3072 and height- 2048 pixels). When I click on file>new I put in those dimensions, but when I am done with pic and I export it, the picture shrinks to very small. The only way around this is to maximize the image in Gimp to 100% and use my snipping tool to outline the image, then "save as". This will save it large, but not the size I need.
My brothers and I took some pics and I added a couple things in one of mine, to try to fake them out. If the size of THAT image is way different than the rest, the fake out will not work. I normally use Faststone to re-size my images but it will not re-size my Gimp images.
Can I reduce the palette width in LR 5 down to the width of LR 4? I am able to enlarge their width from the standard width – but how to reduce them? I am missing 100 pixels (2x50) for image view.

I'm specifically trying to access image width and height and the number of items in the action node.
(SelectedOrder.count or something...)
I want to change the size of the image in Gimp to 3957x4429 px (67x75 cm) at a 150dpi (the image we have has a 300 dpi.) When i do this in image - print size it keeps changing the width.
The system is not allowing me to get the picture a few cm larger. Is there any way I can overwrite this?
how I change the width of palettes in Photoshop. By unknown reasons it's not possible for me to change the width of any palettes in PS CS3 (i.e color- and layer palettes etc). Is this normal, a new version feature perhaps? :-)
For instance, my action palette has a width of two columns, and I can't change it to a single column. This seems a little bit weird to me - all the extra space my new widescreen monitor give me are now reduced by extra wide palettes in Photoshop! :-/
how do you measure the width of a layer/rectangle? I have tabs for links which I now want to have as the same width, but the info tool shows nothing for width or height and the rules are to high up to make use of. Apart from physically using a ruler and measuring myself, any simple way of knowing the exact width of a rectange in photoshop?
Edit: For now I'm using a line I've drawn the same width as the largest tab, then comparing it to the rest. Here's a related question:
How can I center the text within each tab?
my 2 year old photoshop cs4 has been always inexplicably crashing the moment I would try to use a 70 pxl brush... I learnt to work around it, but just yesterday another similar problem kicked in, when using the short keys to widen or narrow the width of the brush, the moment it hits 30 pxls photoshop crashes too. I can't work like that. I hit option-command-shift to open the program to reset, nothing. I reinstalled the whole cs4 several times, nothing. I downloaded, installed the updates for the program.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can make an even gradient between two straight lines, with a fair amount of precision. as shown in the first two jpegs
How I can do this between two curvy lines so the gradient adjusts to the changing thicknesses? In the second two jpegs I'm fudging the effect with the brush tool. But this is not precise enough for what I'm trying to do.
I want to use this for traditional animation drawn frame by frame. So if I went in with the brush tool in each frame, the gradient would be stroking and freaking out when you watch the animation.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I used to paint with Photoshop 7 and a mouse, I had it set up so that my brush strokes would fade gradually as I dragged the brush across the piece, like a real paintbrush running dry with each stroke.
Ever since I upgraded to Photoshop CS and a Wacom Graphire tablet, I can't figure out how to set my brush tool up like I used to have it (I prefer it for speed painting). Currently, my brush strokes vary in width based on the amount of pressure I apply. :B
how to adjust my settings so that the level of pressure on the tablet determines the stroke's transparency as well? Or at least point me to the right thread?
