Say I drag an Icon.psd that already exists into a larger Mockup.psd (it creates a layer that looks like a smart object but is not - by the way what are these called? "nested file layer"?).
Now I double click the new Icon-Layer and edit the Icon.psd. If I save it, it saves a new Icon.psd to a temporary folder (named "temporaryItems"). But: I want it to be saved to the same Icon.psd I dragged in before. Is that possible?
Such a valid SVG file displays fine in Chrome, IE, Opera, Firefox, but Illustrator fails loading it properly, because it creates two groups between "main" and "piece-1" (which is in itself not too bad), and sets piece-1 as a brother of another unnecesarry group from which piece-2 will descend. piece-2 and piece-1 are then clipped with piece-1 clip-path, which is just plain wrong and screws display.
Note that you can move piece-2 to the root of the document, which restores the display. But save this fixed file, and open it again : it"s back to its broken state.
Does anoyone know if this is fixed in CS6 ? If there is a workaround ?
Why my photoshop CS6 64 bit in windows 8 can't SAVE and SAVE AS any files?
it's ok for my Photoshop cs6 32bit,but there is not reaction when i use command file->save or file->save as ,also CTRL +S and SHIF +CTRL+S in Photoshop 64 bit
I'm running Photoshop CC 14.1.2 on Mac (OSX 10.8.5) and whenever I use "Save As…" Photoshop marks the original file as edited and asks me to save it again before I close it - even if I have not made any changes before or after using "Save as…". This behavior is breaking some of my actions and bothering me quite a bit.
While "Draw" of Coreldraw X5 is working well, Corel Photopaint X5 does not "Save", "Save as..." or "Export" files. It just does nothing, when I choose to save a file under "something.cpt". It works, as long as it is a JPG, but not as a CPT. I am working on a Win7, with CorelX5 in german. Support told me to reinstall.
I have just recently installed AutoCAD LT 2014 on Windows 7 (Running on an intel iMac through Bootcamp). Ever since then i am receiving notifications when performing a save.
AutoCAD is telling me it cannot perform the save and is creating a .tmp file in the same location on the server as the file should be.
this is causing major performance issues and happens almost every second time I attempt to perform a save. The issue is that we are getting multiple versions of the same file duplicating on the file server which is very quickly going to cause capacity issues considering most files are 2-4mb in size.
Photoshop CC will not allow me to save any files. It will bring up the "save as" window, but then it immediately disappears when trying to select a save location. No error messages, it just disappears. Running it on a Mac OS X Mavericks. Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, created a new profile which worked for a few saves, but started doing it on the new profile as well.
When saving files using Photoshop CS6 I randomly receive an error message that states 'Could not save image_name.tif' because of a program error'. Sometimes a save-as works but not guaranteed. The file is being saved to a mounted server volume and sometimes the only way to get the file on the server is to save to the desktop and then copy the file back to the server. The error message does not appear on any other Adobe applications, just Photoshop.
Some of our employees are using Photoshop 7 to do some work. We just installed a new server 2 days ago (Windows Storage Server 2003) and when trying to save files from Photoshop 7 we get the error "the disk is full" now the server has 1.27 TB of space left so we know its not that.
Now the strange part of this problem, its only going on with Photoshop. the users are able to save the files to their desktop and drag them in the folders on the server with no issues, and can save from other programs to the server without issue so we know its not a permission problem.
when trying to save a file to an external hard drive directly connected to my mac g5, I get an error message sating that Photoshop can't save the file. The only way around this is for me to save the file to the desktop and then copy it to the external drive.
I've been using PS 7 for a few years and have never experienced this problem. I received a CD of client photos today (JPGs) from one of our photographers, a photographer I've been working with for a couple years. I'm able to open the files in PS 7, but when I try to save any of them after adjusting, it gets to the final SAVE prompt, I click SAVE and get an error saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error". This happens with every file on the CD. I checked the file properties and they're correct. Nothing locked.
I tried opening one of the files in PS 5.5 and was able to save with no problem. Then when I opened that file in PS 7, I was able to do a save. But none of the others will allow a save...just that one file I'd opened and and saved in PS 5.5.
Also, in PS 7 I'm able to save the files as TIFs, but when I try to resave the TIFs as JPGs, I get the same error. Odd
I'm not having problems with other JPG files on other CDs, just this one. Our salesman told me the photographer said he's using "new software", so I'm wondering if it's possible the new software could be doing something to the files that PS 7 can't handle but PS 5.5 can?
When my system crashed I had to upgrade from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7. Trying to reinstall I found that CS2 is no longer supported.
After I jumped through the necessary hoops I was able to re-install CS2. It worked OK for a while, but now I find that the nested tools in the toolbox are unavailable.
I have been using Photoshop for years and I have never had this problem before. Just recently after finishing up a private commission I proceeded to "Save to Web" with convert to sRGB selected. This was always the way I did it before. However the result was different, for if I viewed the file (PNG, JPEG or gif didn't matter) it looked super saturated on my computer when I viewed it with windows photo viewer or I uploaded it to Facebook.
However, it looks fine if I look at it with quicktime, dropping it in a browser, or other viewers. I even opened the saved file (the oversaturated one) inside Photoshop and it looked just like my PSD file. When I uploaded it on Facebook, I went to a different computer and it looked the way it was suppose to.
My concern is two fold, first I like using windows photoviewer because I can cycle through draft files quickly to make decisions and second if some of my viewers are seeing it incorrectly then that may be true of other people. I am currently using photoshop CS5 and I and my OS is Win7.
My color settings are
RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 CMYK: US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 Gray: Dot Gain 20% Spot: Dot Gain 20%
Color Management Policies: All are set tro Preserve Embedded Profiles.
I have used a PC for many years and saved files in JPEG with Photoshop CS4 and then CS5 no problem. Recently I bought a mac and upgraded to Photoshop CS6 and then upgraded again to Photoshop CS6 Extended.
Now when I save files as 'JPEG' in Photoshop CS6 Extended they save okay but when I try to open these files in other programs they can't read the file. If I try to attach these JPEG's in an email they send a script and no image.
The only way to send JPEG's by email on my mac seems to be if I right click on the JPEG image and send it that way by email - I can't add it to emails though. Am I saving in the wrong format for a mac ?
In Photoshop CS6 when I save a TIFF file it saves with the .sgi extension. When I save a png it saves it with the .raw extension. I haven't had this problem with previous versions of PS. I'm on a Mac with OSX 10.6.8. I also noticed that I have a plugin in the Plugins folder that's called SGIRGB.plugin. What's going on with saving in these file types or what this plugin is?
CS5.5 has worked like a charm until a week ago. All of a sudden pictures I had worked on in PS and saved back to LR3 showed up in LR corrupted. When trying to open them in PS I get the following message: "Could not complete your request because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be turncated or incomplete)."
Oddly, it does not happen to all files I work on, though I am fairly consistent in using the same procedure: I import from my camera to LR (3.6) work on the RAW file in LR and do my fine-tuning of the shot in PS (PS 12.1 x64). In PS I save the file back to LR by using "Save" and add an additional file to an external disk in .jpeg format using "Save as ...".
Another odd thing is that there also appears to be a time issue connected to this. After working on my photos, I upload them to my website, and it works fine. After I close PS/LR and reopen again (there could be a reboot in there sometimes), the pictures that were fine previously, are now corrupted. In LR the pic is missing the bottom third (gray snow), split and a color level is missing.
If I try to open the picture in Preview, it tells me the file is empty. Quick Look will show the thumbnail, but nothing more. The file in its folder is obviously only the thumbnail as the size is somewhere between 80 - 120 KB.
I recently updated my OS to 10.8.2 ...Obviously, this is no way to work. Is there some workaround for this problem, short of having to invest in CS6 and LR4?
Addl info: Nikon D300, files imported directly from camera without card reader. I use Topaz and SilverEFEX Pro 2, but it does not appear to have an effect on the truncation Processor: 2x2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon; Memory: 16 GB 1066 Mhz DDR3
Been trying to save files that are processed from Camera raw to tiff in CS 5 . The pop up window shows a different folder from where the just processed file was located. The preferences 'save file options is set(checked) 'Save as to orginal folder' Not sure what to do . After further tries I noted that the ' save as' dialogue indicates the saved folder is 'my documents' . This only occurs with files saved a Tiff or PSD . When a jpeg file is opened and then saved it is saved in the folder it originated from. Is this perhaps a windows 7 setup issue?
So, Photoshop CC was working perfectly for me, up until about 3 or 4 weeks ago, when it randomly stopped letting me open up PNG files. I've been converting them in CS6 as a workaround (CS6 still functions properly), but it's getting pretty annoying...
I've also noticed that PS CC will only let me save in something like 12 or 13 different file formats; CS6 gives me close to double the file format options. CC is missing BMP, IFF, JPEG 2000, PCS, TARGA, and several other formats (not that I work with most of those, mind you, but it is a little strange that they've all just vanished...).
What's the scoop? why it would have just randomly stopped working? Maybe broken by a CC update...?
I'm running both CC and CS6 on OSX 10.7.5. CS6 has the Magic Bullet Photolooks 3rd party plugin installed, but CC doesn't have any 3rd party plugins.
I started a project in CS5, saved it, left it open, then opened the same file in CS6. Then I started steadily working on the file in CS6 for about 20 minutes. I saved frequently while working in CS6. Then Photoshop crashed, I believe because I had several smart objects open at once. However, when I checked the file I had been saving, it was still in an identical state to when I stopped working on it in CS5. Not only that, but the "recovered file" was about 10 minutes behind in CS6.
Currently using Photoshop CS3 on Snowleopard 10.6.3. Hard drive failed and after new Hard drive installed I migrated files from a backup clone only thing is Photoshop won't save any files I get error message: "Could not build a preview because of a problem with Quicktime." Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop and also downloaded and installed new Quicktime player as well as wiping clean the hard drive and reinstalling OSX Snowleopard. Also, I can use "save for web" to save images, that still works but I am a print designer so need to save images higher resolution.
I'm getting the USheetSelection.cpp : 260 : REQUIRE failedin the error log and I can't save anythingI haven't changed anythingbut my list of recent files has disapearred CS6 extended photohop not working I have reset the preferences file but it still happens I reinstalled photoshop but it still happens
My error messages are:could not save because the file could not be found
and upon exit: could not save Preferences because of a program error.
