Photoshop :: How To Resize Select Layers To Specific Inches
Apr 30, 2012
I', using CS4 on Windows 7. I'm making a 24x36 poster with lots of images on it. Each image is it's own layer. Some of the images are too big and I need to make them smaller.
Instead of just using Control+T and holding shift to make them smaller, I'd like to be able to specify in inches what the resized image should be (like 5" wide for example). Is there a way to do this? I see the % boxes, is there something similar for inches? I can't figure it out. I've got Options turned on under Windows.
I have a client who has a set of .ai files they need resized to meet various epub layout specs. Apple and Kindle both are different sizes so I need to know the best way to resize an .ai file 11.25 x 5.65 inches into a smaller dimension in pixels while retaining the layers.
I'm looking for a way to resize all the layers in my document to a specific size. I'd like to resize every layer to be exactly 6 inches in height (while keeping proportions constrained). I can manually transform every layer to do this but I haven't found a way to do this automatically to all layers, I've tried to do it as an action but it's recording it as a percentage and not a fixed height, so it doesn't work on the other layers that aren't the exact same size.
Why my AutoCad 2009 will not let me select new layers to a specific group layer filter. It was working just fine and yesterday all of sudden it will not let me add new layers to a specific filter. Is there a button or command that maybe would have changed that function. Everything else seems to be working on the Layer Manager.
I have a photo in PE Organizer/Editor which according to the document size it is 6.6667 inches x 8.917 inches. I know to select image from the menu but not sure whether to select image size or canvas size?
I select Print, choose the print settings, print size 4 x 6 inches, image only - don't want a border, then this message appears: the following images will be rendered at less than 220 dpi at the requested size.
This can't be done in PE and I have to use crop to resize. I surprised that PE cannot resize to inches.
I searched further and found a video on Youtube that demonstrated that PE will resize to inches. The steps in the video were:
1. Select resize, image. 2. Document size: Enter 6 for width, 4 for height and 300 for resolution (for printing) Check Scale Styles, Constrains proportions, Resample image, Bicubic 3. The pixel dimensions automatically changed to 1800 width and 1200 for height.
In the video the above steps worked. In my PE, I followed the same steps but the Document size for width changed to 2.99 after I had entered 6 and the Pixel size for width changed to 897.
First, PE change resize to inches but for some reason my PE 11 changes the width after entering 6.
I'm using Gimp 2.8 to change print size to 6 x 4. Original image is 1600 x 1200. So I go to „Print Size“ and change size in inches to 6 x 4 (naturally unlinking „chain“ symbol). I then save the image but when I reopen its at 6 x 4.5 and of course it prints this size.
I have a folder of images that range in size... but for the most part they are all smaller than the actual size I wish them to be. (For example: some are perfectly at 250 x 250. Some are 65 x 250. Some are 128 x 180. The point being that they all vary. )
What I need to do is have these images created and outputted at a size of 250 x 250. Every single one of them. Unfortunately I have 5000 that need to be resized. What I would normally do is create a new image at the size of 250 x 250 (background white) and import the smaller one (let's say 128 x 180) and center it. Then save the new one. Easy.
However, I would like to know how to do this "en batch". I'm sure it's possible, but I have very little experience with Photoshop.
I do know how to batch resize photos using adobe bridge and then tools>photoshop>image processor.... and resize but what i want to know is how to batch resize images to a specific size width and height without having to keep proportion.
Because right now i have a bunch of photos that are 2896 x 1944 pixels but i need it to resize to 1920 x 1080 for a stop motion clip. However photoshop wants to keep it in proportion and resizes it to 1608 x 1080 which is not what i want but i dont want to have to do them one at a time.
I placed I-Joist on the floor plan and used the wrong spacing. Can I select the already placed joist and change the spacing from 12 inch OC to 16 inches OC? I know I can select the ones I want to change, but I do not see in the properties window where I can change the spacing. Unless I am overlooking it.
I would like to know how to write a routine to thaw all layers in current drawing and multiple xrefs; then freeze all, then thaw only certain layers globally for a drawing that is open. Such as a dimension plan will thaw only *-BLDG, *-DIMS, *-RD-*, *BNDRY.
I would like to create one that will fit every project which has a different xref name.
Is there a way to make the color select tool not only select a specific color but related shades as well. I have a graphic that is mainly shades of gray but with black outlines and divisions as well as other colors mixed in. I want to shift all the shades of gray to shades of dark yellow without have to select each shade individually.
1. I want to draw boxes of specific dimensions, i.e., 5"x7" within a canvass that is bigger (i.e., letterhead size) than that.
2. I also want to know what size a specific image is. I checked help (PS7) and it says if I press alt and right click on the image information (which I assume is the size dimensions shown on the status bar) it will give me the image size; but it only gives me the canvass size. Am I doing something wrong?
3. Not sure if this is the place to ask, but can anyone tell me where to go to learn how to create emoticons?
It used to be that photo merge would take the top image in a stack of files and make it the left side of a panorama. How do I do this in PS6? It seems to want to make the middle of the stack the left end of the panorama.
When I (am force) to use the Video Importer (because my clips are on a USB drive) it seems to find and select all videos on this USB drive. This is not what I want. I want to browse to the directory (on the USB drive) that I created. It contains the 6 video clips I want to import, not all 300 on the drive.
How to I select a specific directory on the USB drive using Video Importer
Out of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.
when i select diffrent layers, the layer's name in toolbar does not change, i can not change the layer, color, and other settings.my autocad version is 2006 and 2007.
I am switchin over from photoshop and would like to do the following
1) Select a color: I have a logo with a green and red text and would like to select only the green text. The logo is a flat file so I do not have access to the text-layers. (In Photoshop I would now use the "select color range" tool)
2) Keep the selection of the color active (as a selection)
3) Create a new overlay-layer and fill the selection with a blue color.
I have an office with 3 network printers and 18 computers with Windows XP and AutoCAD + Revit 2010 installed. I never had issues related to printers I couldn't solve myself, but this time one of the machines decided not to allow me to use a specific printer (HP Designjet 70). When I select it, it quickly change the selected printer to "None". Its the only computer in the office with the issue, and I can't find out why. I already reinstalled the printer in many ways, even using other sharing paths, its useless. I imported AutoCAD settings from other machines, no use. Cleaned print spooler folder, reseted many settings to default, set it to off-line then on-line again, deleted useless PC3 files and everything that occurred to me, but still nothing changed it. The AutoCAD doesnt emmit errors, nothing, just refuse to accept the printer.
I am trying to use the rectangle tool to select a rather specific area. I am trying to make a 50x50 square in the bottom left corner, but I don't know how I would accomplish this.
3. Begin tweaking the square's properties--stroke width and color, fill, pattern, etc.
So how do you select the object you just drew? All I'm seeing is 'select an area' tools, which of course won't work for adjusting a specific drawing object.
I usually use Photoshop and Fireworks, but have gotten sick of paying through the nose. I just installed Paint.net and notice that this program appears to be a great alternative to the above mentioned, but seems to be lacking a few tools. Once I get past the basics, I'll really start enjoying this program.
If I draw a square on a new layer, how do I select it to resize it or move it. I have tried to use the 'Move Selection' tool, but it keeps moving the entire layer and doesn't select the square.
I am working on a .dwg file in AutoCAD 2013 , and on one specific layer (defpoints), I am not able to select any of the objects. Initially, I thought that the layer may have been locked or frozen, but it is not. Additionally, I went ahead and locked then unlocked the layer as well as froze then thawed the layer, still not able to select any objects on the layer.
My next attempt to fix the problem was to run the command "AUDIT", and instructed to "Yes" fix any errors detected. The command seemed to execute correctly, however, it did not do anything. The objects on the layer still cannot be selected.
I am using the command Draw Order and would like to use the Quick Select so that I can select all objects on a specific layer. How do I use the Quick Select in conjuction with the Draw Order command?
