Photoshop :: How To Make A Poster Using The Slice Tool
Feb 28, 2008
I've looked around and haven't found a "how to" on how to make a simple photo into a large poster 3' x 4' or larger. I know there must be an easy way to do this.
There is a nice site called "blockposters" but they have a 1 meg limit on file size. So a large poster would be very bitmaped. I figure I can take 8 meg pictures of my kids or an activity in school and really blow it up.
I also want to be able to pick the print size of each panel 3 x 4 up to 8 x 11.
How to make interactive images using Photoshop. A professor of mine created a poster that had interactive graphics that made movements when rolled over as well as graphics.Â
My web slice tool has gone mad...I've taken Adobe CS5.5 off the computer but still having problems. I guess I have a setting messed up.  1. Although I have chosen to save file as JPG, everything is saving in GIF. 2. After reinstall, still having problem #1 but some slices with system chosen names are not saving at all but present at time of web save, named and set up as Picture.  I took all the slices off and redid the thing several twice and it's still only saving slices I name and only in GIF.
I have looked under the crop tool and ALL the other tools and nada. So have i got a bogus piece of junk?? without it PS 5.5 and 6.0 are useless. yes I have the extended versions of both. why spend all that money to do nothing I need.
Every time I use the tool I end up with little slivers of images all over the place. It seems i can't get the slices close enough or I'm just plan doing it wrong.
I want to stop the slivers, and I want to slice particular items.
Started a trial with Photoshop V11 and I'm having troubles with slicing. Firstly the slice tool isn't in my toolbox, and secondly when I press K which I think is the correct shortcut key - my cursor changes to a circle with a line through it (banned).
It is happening on any PSD file that I'm opening.
If I try saving for Web and using the slice tool which is on that toolbar, I can create a box around something but as soon as I finish dragging with the mouse the square disappears. It is as if I really am banned from slicing -
I have an attached psd file. I want to create a web site. This is what I want to do, I want to click on "Home", and I want a web site to appear on the body or "slice 8", but whenever I click on "Home" the whole page is replaced by the link and the menu is gone. I really appreciate it, if you can look into my file and show me the way.
I'm having a little problem exporting images that I slice up and put links into. I'm trying to make a website but it does not allow script and the only way I know how to export it so that the links work is as a .swf file. Is there any other way to do it so that it does not have to run on script or no? I am using Photoshop CS2 and ImageReady to export it.
How to make curved lines, slice them into regular rectangles ?
Here is an example : Â I did it with the Pen Tool. But it does not look regular at all. I would like to be able to choose the curving angle and the spaces between the small rectangles...
I have never used the slice tool. Well i load an image jpb  I select the slice tool and i create 3 slice box. How can i cut , trim in short have 3 image of these 3 slices?  In short i want to grab from image 3 sices and create 3 new images ,based on my slices. Can i do it?
The idea is probably a graphic design idea. I think PSPPX3 can do it though.
What I want to do is create something like a flyer or poster. So if it was physically I would have some poster board or a large sheet or paper, then I would arrange images and tape or glue them to it. Then scan and print off any copies if I needed them.
In software I think I want to be able to create a background and be able to enlarge it or shrink it down as I need to. Then start applying images and resize or reshape them on this "virtual canvas" or outside of the "virtual canvas" and bring them into the "virtual canvas".
Can this program do it, or do I need something like CorelDraw?
Photoshop "Slice" tool limitations  Question: How can I get the slice tool to "obey" request for requested number of rows and columns or pixel values for rows and columns?  Elaboration: The Slice tool in CS6 Photoshop will not "obey" my request for number of rows and columns, or pixel values for rows and columns.I use the Slice tool in Photoshop to prepare small square images for use in a mosaic creation application. The squares are 64x64 or 32x32 pixels.I crop my image to a multiple of 64 or 32 pixels on each side and right click with the slice tool.I have a hard time getting the slice tool to generate more than 10 rows horizontal and vertical. For example if I have an i age 1280x1280 pixels and try to get a division of 20 rows and 20 columns, I end up with columns 256 pixels and rows of 64 pixels.I can try entering number of rows and columns numerically or specify pixel values in the row and column, but either approach will not give me the square slices I ask for.
I'm trying to slice an image using the filter-web-slice function but I was wondering if there is a way to customize the function or change its properties in the Python-Fu. I need gimp to slice by columns (start in the top left corner slice each grid down the column then proceed to the next column. Right now all I can get gimp to do is cut by rows. Normally gimps function would be fine but I need the image labeled a particular way so I can use the individual files in a map for a game. I'm making a 118 images so renaming them by hand would take too long.
was working on a grapic in photoshop 7. The slice tool in PS had the 2 option "slice tool" and "slice select tool" but when i move into image ready from my current work and wanted to combine 2 slices, i only had the "slice tool" in my tools area.
The "slice select tool" which needs to be active to complete my action, is missing. pls help.. I tried resetting my tools but still no sign. The biggest question is how come it shows up in PS and not in imageready?
I'm working on a poster for a production of Julius Caesar and I'm trying to create a propaganda poster very similar to the one below. Any ideas on how to turn a regular photograph into a style similar to the one of Lenin? I'll try and post the picture I'm working with as well as the example poster. I've tried posterizing and blurring and colorizing but I can't quite get the yellowy tint as well as the kind of dotted shadows seen in the picture.
Just saw this great poster for THE SHIELD. I'm guessing the paint splatter was scanned in, how they turned the photo into that cool kind of painted/splattered look?
I am having trouble adding text to a poster where I have dropped in an image and added a border. The only way I can add text is to flatten the image then add text. Also when I try to add a image with "place" to make it a smart object I have the same problem. If I flatten the image to add text then I can't save the file as a template.
Here's a Halloween Poster I quickly designed yesterday using a public domain stock photo. It's a generic Poster Template. It's designed at 11x17 300dpi with 0.125 bleeds.
I am asked to do a large print of an A1 size poster which is 840mm x594mm,so would it be wiser to half those dimensions given,or even 1/4 of that size in order to avoid my maching going slow? would the printer still understand how hes meant to go about,if i specify the actual dimensions?
