How do I create a new palette of swatches? I know how to add a swatch color, but how do I create an entirely new "partition" of my own swatches?
For instance, look at this picture here:

How do I create a new preset where I can enter my swatches into so that it doesn't get crowded?
Sometimes, when I'm working on a design, I realize that there's just a handful of colors in Swatches. Why does this happen, and how can I recover the whole palette?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just started using PSP X4, but I have used previous versions of PSP in the past to do the following:
1. First, I use a different program (AutoCAD) that exports a .bmp. This bitmap has more than sixteen colors.
2. I open the .bmp in PSP. Then I load a 16 color palette (.pal file) by going to Image | Palette | Load Palette. This converts the .bmp to sixteen colors (just the colors that are included in the .pal file).
3. At this point, in previous versions of PSP, I am pretty sure that the Materials Palette would only display the colors from the .pal file that I had just loaded. Now with the new X4 version, it seems that the swatches shown in the Materials Palette have nothing to do with the .pal file I just loaded.
Is there a way I can force the Materials Palette to show the colors from my .pal file (and only the colors from my .pal file?
Is there a way to copy/paste colour swatches or save them to a palette?

However, I still have the PS default library of swatches listed (that contains scores of colors). Can I select multiple swatches at once to save them for the swatch library? View 6 Replies View RelatedI am proficient in Illustrator, but this has been one of a few enigmas. Every once and a while in a file, I have noticed that after deleting a color that is definitely not in use(ie there are no strokes, fills, stray paths etc) using these colors. I have made sure of it. I will delete the color from the swatches and as a final pass I like to add used colors and sure enough that color will come back. I tried making sure it's not checked global, didn't work, some I don't even think are global colors, and in fact they are generally CMYK. I often notice that Black and C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100 don't like to delete from the swatches among some other colors when you delete unused swatches. I thought perhaps they were in guides or something but it's truly unexplainable, and generally with a fresh file if all colors are deleted it'll still leave black white and gray.
Or ways to troubleshoot better other than creating a debug file and deleting lines of code as recommended in the older forums?
Downloaded an image from iStockPhoto. Opened up in Illustrator and removed the black background because I want to set my own values for the black background in InDesign.
Noticed that there are several "bubbles" of black background behind the main image that contain radial gradients.
These "bubbles" fade from a dark blue in the center out to black on the edge. Again, I want to be able to set this "black" to the value of black that I want to use for the background of the card. When I click on one of the bubbles, I see in my Gradient palette that it's a radial gradient and the value on the left of the slider is 100, 75, 0, 50 which I can see in the Color palette. But I can't change anything there. On the right of the slider in the Gradient palette is the "black" which is 80, 50, 0, 100.
So, how do I modify the value of that black? If I choose "new swatch" in the swatches palette, it just creates a new swatch called "New Gradient Swatch 1" It shows Process Color for the color type below which is greyed out as well as everything below that. how do I go about changing the black on that gradient?

Does anyone know how to use the "Create a new set" option at the Layers Palette and what is it for?
Open image in ACR make a few adjustments then open in photoshop as a smart object. Copy the background layer and change it to soft light adjust opacity to 20% save the image and then try to add a levels layer. After adjusting the levels photoshop quits. Also cropped the image after copying the background layer. This seems to be a new problem. I think there has been an update to photoshop since I last used it. Windows 7, 32 bit, 3gb memory, 4 processor cpu.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using Photoshop 7 for years on my Vista home premium laptop, with no problems. Now suddenly, today it has started crashing on startup and, worse, locking windows when it does so. I get a windows has stopped working error. I restart and if I try again with PS7 I get a similar result but now windows locks up totally and I have to push the power button to get out of it.
I have already tried uninstalling PS and reinstalling, but I get exactly the same effect.
When I use any marking tool (Pencil, eraser, everything except pen, text, and gradient) the results are totally clear. YES, my opacity is on 100 percent. My color is black. But nothing seems to happen to my work when I try to scribble with the brush over it. The eraser doesn't erase. Et cetera.
Photoshop seems to think it does, though. I can 'undo' any completely invisible marks I have made.
I've reset photoshop to factory settings, and it's still doing this.
I've recently tried using the Photoshop HDR feature. I have selected three different exposures in Lightroom and chose to merge them as an HDR image. All went well until the preview. I've found some settings that work really well. I've decided to go for the 16-bit path, not using Lightroom's 32-bit image capability, and let Photoshop do the tone mapping for now.

And this is the result one step later. It's totally over-saturated and has other merge errors. It basically doesn't even look similar to the preview. What's the preview good for if it doesn't show what I'll get? How should I decide what setting works good if I can't see it? [URL]
This is Photoshop CS6 x64 on Windows 7 SP1. The source images are 16-bit TIFFs as they were exported by Lightroom.
PS CS2. 4 GB Ram 500 GB HD, Win Vista Home Premium.
When I create a duplicate or other layer and try to clear portions of the layer, using a mask: I do not get a clear removal. There is an outline of maybe 1 to 3% that will not clear no matter how many times I go over it. I am using 100% Opacity and 100% flow.

More background is that I have an very large library (over 25,000 files) and Revel was not able to successfully synchronize it. Also, the agent created a directory in my catalog file structure that contained copies of original files, therefore using additional disk space.

The problem is that my Palette title is now "gtPalette" which I do not want. However if I change
PaletteSet("gtPalette", MYGuid)
to
PaletteSet("GunTech Cogo", MYGuid)
Then what occurs is that when Acad (actually I'm using Civil 3D 2012) start it trys to execute a command called 'GunTech' and then one called "cogo'. Cogo being a valid Civil 3d Command brings up the Cogo dialog. If I then type the command gtPalette it appears in the correct location.
Currently on my development PC the first code works perfect and brings up a palette that even has the correct title of "GunTech Cogo". this info has presumable been saved with the GUID in my previous attempts to get the code to work.
