is it possible to create an action in the action palette which chooses a specific color I want , instead of doing it manually with the magic wand? For example something like "Set selection all blacks"?
View 2 RepliesI have images of varying sizes that I need to all be cropped to a specific aspect ratio in the center of the image and extending either to the side edges or the top and bottom depending on using the maximum portion of the image. How do you set up an action to do this.
If I were to do this by hand, I would use the rectangle marquee, change to fixed ratio, and drag from one edge to the other. They move the selection to the center (as best I could) . Then do Image<Crop?
But I need to automate this process and have have it exactly positioned in the center. Can this be automated in an action? If so, how?
FYI, I have CS5 (and CS6). I am comfortable using the image processor. So as long as I have an action set up, I can process all of my images using the image processor. I also have lightroom 4 if there is some way to do it there.
I am working on creating a banner for a website and I am looking to use a couple colors from which is included on a jpeg that is provided for me, its been forever since ive tried creating anything and i wonder is there some way i can take the colors from the jpeg to use in my own color palette .
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a shape with a Pantone Color and then decrease the opacity in the color swatch palette, then go to my swatches palette and select "Select All Unused Colors" it highlights the pantone color being used in the file. In previous version, it never did this. This is for CS6. Any know fix for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI will be working on a project soon where I will have to change the fill color and header overlay for about 128 images. I know how to create an action to change the header, but I don't know how to make one that changes the fill color. I have a list of each hex code for each image on a spreadsheet. Is there anyway i could create an action to read the information from that and create each image accordingly?
I would do it by hand, but I anticipate getting several projects of this type in the future, so I would like to automate as much as I can!
I am switchin over from photoshop and would like to do the following
1) Select a color: I have a logo with a green and red text and would like to select only the green text. The logo is a flat file so I do not have access to the text-layers. (In Photoshop I would now use the "select color range" tool)
2) Keep the selection of the color active (as a selection)
3) Create a new overlay-layer and fill the selection with a blue color.
How would you do this in Xara Designer?

1. I want to use a single color palette, e.g. one of the Pantone range.
2. Each color of this palette should be the filling of a certain shape (all shapes are similar), so that the number of shapes equals the number of colors in the palette.
I am a professional photographer and wish to create an action where I can bring in my studio logo into an image file. Eventually I will run this as a batch.
Scenario:
Open image to have logo added
Opem logo image
Drag logo on to new layer of first image, and position
Close logo
Close and save original image
I have other stuff going on in this action (I'm creating a custom proof) but while recording the part where I want to bring in the logo it doesn't seem to be able to find the right logo file when I try to run it.
I'm running CS3 on a Vista machine with no problem excepting for this intermittent crop tool thing. Say I've got a photo but need to crop out a small rectangular shape at the right. The crop tool saves the shape and wants to crop the rest of photo.
I've dumped my prefs.
I've selected "crop" and hit the clear key.
It still selects the inverse of what I'm asking it to do. I've even looked under "select inverse" to see if I could reverse it from there.
I'd like to create an action that spot heals with a specific brush, with specific brush parameters and centered on a specific pixel - is this possible? I've got 16MP image files coming from a camera with a hot pixel, and I'd like to just run an action on import rather than heal it manually every time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded an action (*.ATN) file from a trusted source and saved it in the Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets/Actions folder. When I explore this folder via windows it shows the action I saved plus the default actions that came with Photoshop. When I click on "load actions" from the actions pallete I get a message that says the same folder is empty. Under file type it is looking for the correct file type (*.ATN).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanted to add effects to text. The "help" feature said that the easiest way is to use the text effects in the Action palette.
The instructions were very sketchy. I tried, and didn't see any effect, so I closed that particular file and went on to something else.
Well, I guess I did SOMETHING, because now those effects seem to be permanently stuck ON. I've tried everything that I can think of. I even deleted all effects from the Actions palette (apparently you can restore the defaults later.) No effect!
The effects that are haunting me are "rippling water" and a shadow. Also, if I click anywhere in a .gif with the text tool, instead of creating a new text layer, it "highlights" the entire image.
What can I do?
I'm trying to create an action to change two specific colors in ~300 different logo files (.ai and .eps). I'm coming from Photoshop so I assume there is a way to create a droplet from an Illustrator Action but that's a different topic.
The colors are Pantone 143 and 287 which need to be changed to 143 U and 287 U, respectively.

Is there a way to apply a color to selected objects without having to search for the color in the color palette. So say if I am working with an image that has multiple colors but want to use only one of the colors in that image, is there a way to apply it without having to create or add it to the palette.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a colored object, and I have a specific swatch of color that I need to change the current color of the object to. The problem I'm having is that the specific color that I'm trying to apply to the object doesn't look integrated with the object itself, it just looks like I've applied a color film over it. It's milky-looking and there's not enough contrast. I've tried adjusting levels, using different blending modes, using the Match Color command ..I can't seem to keep the integrity of the color I'm applying to the object, while still keeping the integrity of the details of the object itself. How should I tackle this using multiple layers and blending modes, and so the new color looks integrated and believable?

At some point, I'm instructed to right-click the tool palette title bar to select the "project-specific" palette (which should be located among the Design, Visalization, etc palettes). Well, this palette is not there.
I´ve checked the project properties and verified that Project Tool Palette Group is set to Shared workspace catalog. The paths are correct (I'm using Windows 7 x64), etc. When I open antoher tutorial project (Steel Framed Residence_m) the project tool palette is there, but when I create any new project or use the one in the tut, this group/palette is not created.
The profile used to create the project is the default:

I am very new to photography and Lightroom 3.4 64 bit. I have a photo of an apple on the table. I want to get the photo black and white (did that already). Now I want the apple it self to remain its own red color. How do I do that?
Also, I have this apple and its reflection is on the knife that is cutting the apple. How can I get that in color too?
How I choose a color for any new objects I want to create. I've opened the toolbox with ctrl-b, which appears on the left side of the window. If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.
Working in Illustrator CS5 on a Mac. When choosing a color in the palette, the preview showing up is different than what is in the palette. If I hit "OK" the actual color chosen is the one in the palette, not the preview window... Including some pics for reference. In my 10+ years of using Illustrator, i have never seen this.I am using a Dell monitor on a mac... not sure if that would make a difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

I have a layer that is all white with text and some shapes (with heavy anti-aliasing, so the alpha channel variations of white, too) and I am trying to convert it to a specific other color (just a cream color that I have the HTML code for).
So, when a layer is all one color (not counting variation in alpha values), is there a technique to change that to a specific other color, rather than just toggling the "Color Balance" to get an approximation?
How can I create a specific size circle?
I know how to create a circle and then size it using the rulers but isn't there some way to create the circle to a specific size right from the start?
I remember in Elements 9 I was able to convert a color photo to black and white and then with the paint brush I could go and paint in the original color on just specific areas. How is that done in PS5?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got CS5 I was having problems with color management. Not sure how to explain this, but the colors in the preview pane differed drastically after I clicked on the photo to edit . That is, as soon as I clicked on the photo I wanted to edit, it turned out much duller. the reds suddenly become brownish orange. and they're not raw, so that's not the problem. Although I shoot in Adobe RGB I set the color management to SRGB and (I don't remember what else I set) and when I clicked on a photo to edit, I would get the message where I had the ability to discard the icc profile (no color management) and that's what I chose. there were all my rich colors, and it was worth the hassle of doing that with every unedited photo.
I turned CS5 on and everything had changed. Now I'm back to seeing the dull colors in CS5, even the one's that I already edited. I have some photos with rich red, they're fine on my website, but in photoshop dull brown.
I'm temporarily back to using Corel, because for some reason it has no problem displaying the correct colors. So it's something going on with PS. I think somehow, though I don't know how, maybe some setting got changed. But am desperate. I've tried all sorts of combinations. using the adobe setting, switching things on and off and dull, dull, dull.

If not, then as a feature request for version 4; when the user hovers over the color with their mouse cursor, a small pop up will display at the cursor tip with the color name listed in a palette file comment. This feature would allow for quick color selection by name for projects that are color name specific/customer color specific. The current process of referencing a palette text file RGB code list with commented description, then entering the required RGB codes for each color needed can be a bit time consuming for larger projects.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a photoshop file with several layers...about 100. I want to put each layers into it's own group. The name of the group must be the same as the name of the layer.
I tried creating an action to do this but it did not work right. It only works for one layer selected individually. If I select multiple layers, then it forms nested groups. How do I create this action? I am using adobe photoshop cs6 ( I think) , windows 7.
Decided to download the trial version of CS6 and create some actions for myself. What I need to create is a 3d canvas wrap image as seen in the pic.I need to be able to control the following.
1, The size of the canvas
2, The depth of the frame
3, To have the image mirrored on the sides of the frame.
4, Shadow effect
I have a quite large Photoshop document where I've drafted up a number of pages for a website, and I require guides which are specific to certain layers or groups, and not just to the whole document. Is this possible? Any plugins which serve this purpose, or functionality I'm missing?
I'm using Photoship CS6 on a Mac OSX 10.8.3
Occasionally I select part of an image, apply a hue/sat adj layer, check colorize and attempt to re-create an RGB color on that selection....but it all seems to be trial and error, hunt and peck method of moving HSL sliders or entering numbers.
I tried matching the "numbers" to an HSL equivalent of the desired RGB color but not much better/faster desired results.
I realize the image has a range of tonal values so hitting the exact number overall is not do-able using this method, nor is it the goal (otherwise a simple paint bucket fill would work). But at least somewhere in the selection image I'd want to be sure my color is very close.
I tried using eye dropper color sample spots (up to 4), which works, but the process is slow and fiddly.
My goal is to be able to re-color/colorize part of an image to match an RGB sample color, yet leave the tonal range in the image still looking like it is part of the scene; including shadows and highlights and midtones.
