Lightroom :: Rename On Import Doesn't Rename Source Images?
Feb 5, 2013Is it possible to have Lightroom rename the source images according to my custom naming convention?
I just imported 278 photos and they are all correctly renamed within Lightroom however the source files retained the original Canon generated names. I want to rename them for backup/in case I ever decide to stop using Lightroom/etc.

Zooming in to the line (600%) you can see i can draw a marquee through half of it ...

No matter what 1 single pixel brush i use this will happen... no matter which computer i use cs6 on and different copies of the installation. Anyway have any insight into this? frankly... it's somewhat limiting that i can't use the brush for stroking a shape if i need a pixel line and yet soft curves that a pencil won't get you.

Apr 13, 2013There are a few things I just don't get about brush settings. Sometimes it seems my brushes go all wonky.
When I change the settings for 1 brush... say I add some jitter to a smooth brush - then suddenly the other brushes get the same jitter applied to them.
How can I set the brushes so that each brush has a different setting that doesn't change when I change any other brush settings?
p.s. I also don't get why Adobe has you lock a brush by UNlocking it? Seems to me it should be the other way around?
Photoshop :: Brush Size Is Smaller Than Circle That Represents The Brush
Dec 19, 2012I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).

i'm using cs6.the picture i'm working with was enlarged to 400%.the brush, stamp brush tool was at size: 12px, hardness 100%.opacity 100%
in the presettings i saw the brush was set to normal size.also i played with the jitter sizes, to no avail.

Jul 25, 2013I'm working with a designer, how to do an urgent batch rename. I'm the project manager rather than a designer so, I don't have the design tools to experiment myself and it's rather urgent. This is the issue:
We have 300+ images. There's a one-digit difference between the low res file names and the high res, color-managed files the designer needs to relink on Monday. In every case, there's a 0 missing before an underscore - so Day Two_0012 has become Day Two_012. This is an easy fix in the file-renaming software I use but I'm in a different city and it's much simpler if the designer, who uses Adobe Creative Suite, does it at her end.

I have a list of the new names for the files in Excel, and I wonder if I can use Photoshop to automatically rename the current filenames in ascending order to the new names in ascending order (the number of files and the number of names in the list will be the same, and will be in corresponding positions). It is perfectly acceptable to generate them as new .jpgs rather than rename existing ones.
Can I do this at all? Rename based on a sorted database?
I am new to the batch/automate process and am using Photoshop 7.

Mar 25, 2006I am having a problem using the batch rename in Photoshop CS2. I am selecting files in Bridge, using copy to other folder, and using sequence number and file extention. I am trying to change .jpegs to .tiffs . The transfer seems to work, the files show up in the new foder but I get an error message in Photoshop saying the files are invalid when I try to open them. I tried converting to .psd but the same result-the files are there but invalid.

Oct 9, 2012I'm trying to find a script that batch rename/renumber a group of selected layers. So far I've been able to find a script that renames every single layer in a Photoshop document (overkill). Or there's the CS6 Tab rename trick (too slow).
I routintely export PSDs from Illustrator for use in After Effects. But in Photoshop, I'll get a couple hundred layers named <path> or <path> + <path> or <group>. Renaming by hand is out of the question. But I don't want to rename every layer the same.
Photoshop :: Actions Don't Work To Rename Layer In CS6
Jun 26, 2013Can't seem to get "Layer > Rename layer ..." to activate with Actions, whether I try "Insert Menu Item" or "Record Action".I have created and used many actions over the years in Photoshop, and almost all of them seem to work fine in Photoshop CS6, except this one.In CS5.x the command was listed as "Layer Properties...", which brought up the DIALOG.
In CS 6.x that command has been removed from the LAYER PALETTE MENU. Instead, the COMMAND has been renamed "Rename Layer..." in the MAIN MENU, and it no longer brings up a DIALOG. Editing is now done directly in the LAYER NAME TEXT FIELD and it was clear that the old ACTION can't work as-is.
SO, I deleted it and rebuilt it as folllows:
I created a NEW ACTION From the ACTION PALETTE's MENU I selectedThe ALERT POPUP came upFrom the MAIN MENU I selectedThe ALERT POPUP updated to show "Layer:Rename Layer".I clicked OK, but nothing showed up under the new ACTION in the ACTIONS PALETTE ...I thought perhaps there was a bug with the command in CS6, so I tried the RECORD ACTION process instead.
with the ART LAYER visible and selected I clicked RECORD I selected and again.This time the ART LAYER activated properly .I changed the LAYER NAME and hit RETURN.In the ACTIONS PALETTE, the SET CURRENT LAYER ACTION was automatically added.I know I don't want "123" to be the LAYER NAME, but I thought I could manually edit the ACTION by adding a DIALOG BOX control.I clicked STOP to try out the KEY COMMANDI manually changed the LAYER NAME back to and hit RETURN to set it.I ran the ACTION by typing CMD-SHFT-F9As expected it dutifully edited the LAYER NAME Now I wanted to intercept the renaming step, so I ticked the DIALOG BOX option in the ACTION thinking it would give me some method of keying in a name during PLAYBACK.The first few times I ran the ACTION SCRIPT, it brought up the LAYER STYLE dialog. What?I thought something might be amiss with my FUNCTION KEYS, so I checked my KEYBOARD settings in SYSTEM PREFERENCES.This option was originally ON.so I UNCHECKED it OFF and closed SYSTEM PREFS.Back in PS it didn't seem to make a difference, so I thought maybe I needed to RESTART to activate this level of SYSTEM PREFERENCE.I RESTARTED, double-checked that the FUNCTION KEY OPTION was UNCHECKED, and tried the ACTION again.Now the ACTION didn't run at all, so I knew the FUNCTION KEY OPTION was supposed to remain CHECKED.I RECHECKED it, RESTARTED, and returned to PHOTOSHOP.When I ran the ACTION this time, the LAYER STYLE dialog DID NOT come up. The LAYER was simply renamed "123" with no way to edit it during PLAYBACK. What?
In the end, I played with inserting a STOP or CONDITIONAL, I tried PLAYBACK OPTIONS, I inserted other random COMMANDS and played with reordering them. Everything works perfectly, but I simply can't seem to gain control over editing the LAYER NAME itself with an ACTION. I assume the root of the problem is that there is no longer a DIALOG BOX that controls the LAYER NAME, and therefore there's no moment in PLAYBACK that can give me DIALOG BOX control over the name.
Photoshop :: Batch Processing - Rename And Re-size?
Jan 3, 2013I have 115 files that I need to create six files respectively from each, a total of 690 files. Each of the batched six files are different sizes and the last two numbers need to change. For example, I start with 781.08, from there I get 781.08_1, 781.08_2. 781.08_3 up to _6.
I made actions in Photoshop, but they did not keep the current file name I was working on such as 782.08, it defaulted back to the file name in which I build the actions in such as 781.08.
This seems easy enough, but not sure what the solution is to both re-size and rename the files in a batch process.

Nov 18, 2012When I use the healing brush is tends to "skip". It leaves a line of circles like a stamp would instead of a flowing line like it should leave. No matter how slow I move the brush it leaves a circle and then as I continue to draw nothing happens until I reach the edge of the first circle, it then drops another circle and it continues that way as long as I draw with it. The brush tool works fine, leaves a smooth line. The Spot Healing and Patch Tool work fine but the healing brush will not heal in a smooth stroke. It skips along a leaves a tail of circles the size of the brush. I am using a fast computer, i7 processor, 16bg ram and a SSD drive so I do not think speed is an issue. I upgraded from CS4 where the healing brush worked fine on this computer
