Jul 21, 2003In Photoshop 6, adjusting brush parameters including hardness was easy, but in Photoshop 7, I can't seem to find where these settings are. I have been through the brush palette several times and have found everything BUT basic brush parameters such as hardness and angle. I cannot imaging where they might have moved this or even if they are still accessable.

Feb 8, 2013I am in charge of marketing at a financial institution and have a pretty vast experience with CS6 and prior versions as I use it regularly. For a little background, I have been designing ads and marketing materials for campaigns professionally for years and using PS/CS since the original version.I save all my files to a share drive on our server at the corporate office; it is extremely stable and have never had an issue doing so.
Recently I received a new PC for work and upon getting it set up I realized some of my project folders have the rendered PDF files inside but the original raw PSD files are completely missing. They were not moved, nor located on the old hard drive as I stated before; this was a shared drive on our network.
All my other files; mp3/wav/mp4/.doc/favorites/pdf/tiff/jpeg/etc etc are all there and intact but it seems that folders with large numbers of PSD files are now all sans PSD documents. Its like they vanished completely.I searched the drives that I use regularly and my harddrive(s) but they are simply gone.This is detrimental.
I have seen issues like this pop up when I searched for answers but it seemed it was always user error; losing the files, hidden folders, user rights, hard drive errors, misplacement, expectations of file recovery actually working 100% of the time..These are not recovered files, they were ones I accesed and used regularly; everything from logos, poster designs, large format billboards etc. There are some folders with PSD files in them, some not.No other file types are missing, this is a PSD isolated issue.

Mar 16, 2009I'm trying to draw some dashed lines in Photoshop, and to this end I've been playing around with the brush settings (Spacing etc). I'm using a square brush, and I managed to draw the dashed line as I want it, with one exception: I can't get the brush to be feathered.
Is it a general thing in Photoshop that you can't change (i.e. soften) the hardness of a square brush, as you can with that of a round brush? I doubt that Photoshop would impose such a limitation - there must be something I'm getting wrong.
I'd really appreciate some help on this. Once again, I'd like to have a soft (i.e. feathered) *square* brush, which I can use for various purposes, including the drawing of dashed lines.

Jun 13, 2009In CS4, holding the ALT key down and right-click-dragging left or right decreases/increases brush size continuously on a PC. Is there a comparable way to tweak brush HARDNESS on a PC as you can on a Mac? I have tried additionally holding down the SHIFT key ala the square brackets alternative method for step-changing hardness, and have also tried all combinations of moderator keys to no avail.

Dec 30, 2012My platform is WIN 8-64 on a Dell XPS8500 with AMD Radeon HD 7570 graphics card and like many others I have the "flicker" problem but the work-around Advance setting of BASIC works for me. However, I now notice that I cannot set the brush hardness level. I installed the CS6-32 version concurrently and the brush works fine in that version. In CS6-64 the brush set on black will not replace white and when set on black it makes only a gray streak no matter what the hardness setting is.

It seems that, in CS6 Photoshop, I could RIGHT CLICK, and a small panel would drop down at cursor location, allowing me to change size, hardness, and roundness of the brush.
I have recently updated to 13.0.1. The technique described above no longer works, but I can't be sure that this happened after the update. I may, as often, have screwed up a preference checkbox.

Sep 22, 2011I'm trying to figure out how you can adjust the exact hardness of a brush. I see that you can select a brush with a hard edge, or a fuzzy edge, but what if I'd like some middle ground?
While I'm at it, I may as well ask another question as well. I'm used to Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8, and on there you could adjust the "step" of a brush. Is there a way to do that on GIMP?
Also, is there a shape tool where you can create spheres or squares?

Dec 29, 2012All of my folders in my Lightroom 4.3 catalog vanished, though you can still see the folder/file structure when using my Mac Finder. So clearly the folder structure exists, but the program can no longer view them or reads them.
I have right clicked on catalog and none of the choices return the tree view of my folders. I did back up my catalog last time I used Lightroom (it and the ircat and ircat alias files are on an external drive) to another external drive. How to return all my folders that apparently are not viewable? Might the Carbon Copy Cloner software I used (recommended as being good for Lightroom 4.3 by several) have messed up the folder view.

Oct 4, 2013[I moved this over from the Creative Cloud forum FWIW] I'm a packaging designer and recently have encountered a very problematic glitch.
I have a flat carton layout with an assortment of fonts. I saved the file one day – typical Save – just with PDF Content unchecked since that slows down my workflow. Several days later, I reopened it and all of those fonts were defaulted to Myriad Pro Regular.
Font auto-activation has been a problem in Creative Cloud, but that's not the problem. The fonts are active – they even appear properly in another layout using the many of the same text treatments.
And typically when a font is inactive and text is defaulting to Myriad, the character pallette shows you the intended font between < >
Not in this file. Every defaulted bit of text is indicated to be Myriad Pro Regular. No asterisk, No < >, No nothing.It's as if the font information was lost the last time I saved the file, and the only way to fix it is to manually replace each bit of text with the appropriate font.
Other designers in my group have noticed this happening occasionally as well.

Aug 6, 2013We are longtime users of CorelDraw, but recently we have been having lots of problems with printing.
When printing out a page for production, the letters at the end of one piece of text did not show up when printed.The wording was not converted to curves or anything; just plain text split into two lines.
On other occasions, pieces of artwork will not appear when printed. Sometimes it is consistent on multiple computers; other times only one computer will print the errors.
Is this a bug in X5? Is it fixed in X6, or are there still issues of art and text randomly vanishing? Could the printers be at fault?
AutoCAD Inventor :: 2014 Content Center Vanished?
Jan 8, 2014The content center is completely empty on 3 different seats of Autodesk Inventor 2014. They all had the content center and it was working perfectly until a random moment and they all went empty at different times. Two of these seats were upgraded from 2013 while the other was a fresh installation. We do not use the vault and on my main computer, the items I marked as favorites are still able to be seen, but only available as custom parts each time.
There are 4 other seats here with Inventor installed and the content center is working, should I expect them all to vanish as well? How can I get it back?
