When I use the gradient tool it has visible transition lines even though I am using the colour to transparency option. When I say visible I do not mean hard edged transition, but the transition is visible on the screen and when printing.
Is this inevitible or am I missing a trick to getting a barely visible transition edge?
I have two images/photos to which I applied a gradient feather effect. The documment printed fine, but when the PDF is viewed online in Fire Fox, the gradient feather no longer displays and only the sharp edges of the photo are visible. Is there a specific setting when saving to PDF that I need to select for best viewing online? I'm on a Mac CS 5.5.

My gradient fill tool controls, that normally appear over the selected gradient-filled shape, are no longer showing up.
I'm making a map and wish to type the name of a few major areas with big letters - but the letters should not cover up too much, ie I'm hoping to have only the outer edges visible of the individual letters and the inside of the letters transparent.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to use the adjustment tools in RAW editing of JPEG's. An error message comes up.."Unable to create local adjustments. All the local adjustment controls are set to have no effect on the image". These are tools I have been using regularly and all other tools work. I have shut off my MAC and rebooted but still get this message. How can I reenable these adjustment tools??
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently invested in CS6 Production Premium and I've just tested legacy support by saving an Illustrator CS6 image in CS4 format.
The image contains a number of semi-transparent gradient meshes used for highlights.
Having loaded the saved CS4 .ai file in CS6, white lines appear along my semi-transparent gradient meshes (see the attached screenshot).
What's happening is that the anchor points with 0% opacity in CS6 suddenly have 100% opacity when I load the saved CS4 files in CS6.
Is this a known error? If so, how/where do I report it?

There are no white lines when I save the image in CS5 format and load it in CS6.
The problem with the ruler tool is that when I select another tool the former DOES not stay visible. something I need.
For example, I make a measurement with the ruler tool, then select the move tool and the mesurement made dissapears from the document

I can use the paintbucket tool to fill in a regular solid colour, but when I try and use the gradient tool it fills the entire window with a gradient. How can I fill a particular part of the image with a gradient (it's also not really possible to use the marquee tool).
2. My image has some 'broken' shapes that floods out the whole image when I use the paintbucket fill. Is there a setting so that small gaps can be ignored and therefore no bleeding occurs (such as there is in Flash MX)?

I am drawing with a bamboo tablet a road on a map and the edges of my stroke look bumpy, i.e. not smooth, using the pencil tool.
I have the hardness set to 0. If I hold the shift key and draw parts of the road that are straight I get a nice smooth edge but when I add in the curves I must have terrible shaky hand cos its so bumpy. Is there a smooth tool or something similar?
Basically, it was a way of extending the canvas size using the edge information of the image. The reason I am looking for it now is that I imagine it'd be a good way of creating a gallery wrap section for a canvas print, taking the edge detail and reproducing it. If you are not sure what I mean, have a look at this image on my blog. It's the technique I'm talking about. I have access to CS3 or CS4.

However I now need to edit it, how do you edit gradiants created using the tool? Or should I have used a mask and blending to retain editability.

View 5 Replies View Relatedhave just downloaded paint.net - no problem on many basic functions but cannot get the line tool to give me a visible line. I have changed primary and secondary colors to make sure regardless of whether I'm left or right clicking the line will stand out against white background. I have increased width to six pixels to make sure it will be nice and thick and visible. I do get the four little box thingies when I release the cursor, and I can then go in and manipulate them. But no matter what I try I cannot SEE a line.
