Paint.NET :: Select Layer By Clicking On Non-transparent Pixel Owned By Layer

Sep 2, 2012

Today i opened a psd file which 200 layers. Paint.net is very slow then (as all layers are flatten, pdn is missing hierarchical layers), but that is another problem.

I wanted to hide some background layers and "copy merged" a selection.

It took me 10mn to find all the backgrounds layers without this tool.

In photoshop the tool exist as a property of the "move selection" tool. Ie: you must first select the move selection tool, then select "layer" in the properties toolbar.

Any way to get that for v4 ? Will v4 be on github so we can clone and make patches ?

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Transparent Top Of Screen?

Jan 26, 2011

The bar at the top of the screen that displays the drawing file name seems to be a blurred transparent image of the computer desktop. This makes the file name difficult to read, especially if the desktop image is light in color. Is there a way to make this feature opaque?

Also, on an earlier version the entire drawing path was displayed. Now I only see the drawing name. I cannot seem to find a way to turn that feature back on.

Photoshop :: Setting A Layer To Transparent ?

Jul 26, 2007

I am trying to create sort of a rounded box, except with one corner only. I am quite new to photoshop and am running into trouble creating the top left corner, (the only corner I want to show). I have created the background set as transparent, then used the rounded rectangle to create a round corner, then created another layer and another rounded rectangle over the first one, so now I have a thin line, with a rounded corner.

The problem is, the middle section is still white, so I have to manually use the eraser tool to erase that layer to get the transparent background to show through instead of the white background.

I am sure there is a better way to do this. How can I set an entire layer to be transparent ?

2) The persons face

if it's possible to make the persons face transparent enough(If at all) so it would appear on the guitar?

Photoshop :: Unknown Semi-transparent Layer!

Jun 28, 2009

I'm working on an image to print onto t-shirts for our holiday.

When I upload it into vista print it says there has been a semi-transparent layer detected which may affect the quality of printing (as they are being printed on black t-shirts - they put a layer of white behind to ensure best print quality)

The problem is I can identify what the semi-transparent part is! I've checked all layers and they are set at 100% opacity.

When I try to do this, nothing occurs because the "square" is empty. The only way I can get the shadow to occur is if I fill in the box with a color, such as white, first. However, then the center isn't transparent how I'd like it to be.

Photoshop :: Gray Transparent Layer To Write Text On

I have been watching a lot of how to videos to learn some effects, trying to pull off this one effect. In the end I would like to create an image file that will consist of a gray transparent rectangular box that I can freely write solid text on. I would like to take this image and "drop" it onto other pictures that I have so that it can serve as a description box. I would like whatever my picture is to be my background and then have this gray box file be the foreground so that I don't have to recreate this process for every image I want to add text to, I can instead edit my Transparent gray file with the text I want and then add it to the picture I want to have text.

Photoshop :: Recording What's On Screen In CS5 On Separate Layer

May 4, 2012

Is there any way to record a Photoshop maneuver like airbrushing onto an otherwise transparent layer so the end result is an animation? The real world equivalent of what I'm trying to do would be to have a video camera behind glass and a spray can spraying the glass from the other side.

I know there are programs that record what's on screen but I don't think they allow you to have a transparent layer. I may be able to use one of those programs and key out the non airbrush background. I'd like to be able to import the animation into Premiere so it looks like paint has been sprayed over whatever clip is underneath the airbrushing frames.

When I click on "Ok" the image disappears, or really i think it becomes transparent, because in layer´s panel it is still visible. What has happened? I have done well all day, and suddenly this happens.

Photoshop :: Turn Icon With Shadow Layer In Grayscale Into Transparent

Photoshop :: Brush Edge - Transparent Layer With Background Not Visible?

Aug 24, 2013

In PS 6 an eraser set at 0% hardness (using a round brush) made a smooth transition from center to edge.  Now in PS CC it transitions abruptly at a point near the edge and then goes to a pale grey fade.  Why is that?  And it's only doing so in dark areeas.  Medium and light tones erase smoothly.

Attached are samples of my trying to make it work.  This is a transparent layer with the background not visible (all white instead of the standard checkerboard).  I should explain the "L" shaped erased part is two brush edges: hard, left; soft, right.

Photoshop :: Converting Screen Layer Blend Modes To CMYK

Mar 21, 2012

I've created some graphic artwork in Photoshop RGB, and now its time to output these graphics to an Illustrator CMYK file.

I have a bunch of layers that I have created for lens flares / light effects and I created these via filling a layer black and then using the Lens Flare Filter and then converting the layer to a Screen layer blend.

I notice that when I convert to CMYK in photoshop I lose the effect of those screen layers, is there anyway I can get those layers to look the same in CMYK without having recreate them from scratch in the CMYK space?

In my illustrator file I have a gradient background and was hoping to bring in these transparent lens flare lighting effects to place over the top of the gradient. I was thinking I might be able to merge the layers in Photoshop but unfortunately I need those screen layers to remain transparent.

I also tried turning the layer to normal 100%, convert to CMYK, placing into my CMYK illustrator file and then changing the layer to screen mode there but its doesnt look the same, its turn transparent like I wanted but it looks like where there is transparency there is a 25% opacity white.

Photoshop :: Trouble Applying Color/layer Effects To An Image With Transparent Background.

Jul 30, 2005

I'm in the process of prepping individual components of a design for Flash animation. I'm trying to apply a layer of #7C6844 with the color effect at 56% opacity and a layer of #999999 with the color burn effect at 12% opacity to the foreground image which has a transparent background. This task has proved to be rather impossible for me, but it seems like there should be a way to do it. I would use the wand tool > select inverse and apply the colors over top that way, but the foreground image has a lot of leaves and branches, so that method would be extremely tedious.

Is there a way I can select the entire image as a whole and leave out the background?

I'll attach the image and the desired result to further assist.

Paint.NET :: Add Noise To Transparent Layer?

Feb 7, 2013

I want to use the "Add Noise" effect but have it apply to a transparent layer. In other paint programs, this would just add generated noise pixels to the currently selected layer, but in Paint.NET it appears like it's using the source pixels as input for the noise effect. While visually this effect is pretty on existing image, it doesn't work on transparent layers. Is there a way to just add regular noise to my transparent layer? What I'm just trying to achieve is generate a television static effect, but have those pixels that were left untouched by the noise effect remain transparent. I need the transparency for use outside of Paint.NET. Is there a way to do this?
