i have installed font in D directory as i didn't have enough space in my default one.. now my fonts in photoshop are not working they are just showing a black line.. what to do..?Whenever i type with my text tool it only shows a black line..
View 8 RepliesNot sure if I have some option checked here I shouldn't. I am working on an image where I want an 8 pt font. When I use text tool > horizontal type tool > I make sure I have verdena size 8pt font checked. I have made an image with this font size before and it turned out fine. However, now when I use this font it is huge, looks like size 20 or something. It is at 100% so it should look a lot smaller. I also put the old image next to it and the font is a lot smaller then the new one. Any idea on what's going on?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to 2.8 and when I want to add some text this tool appears on top of the text box. No matter where I move the text box it chases my text box around. It is annoying as it covers part of my image and I don't need it there. How do I turn this thing off?
Also why when I choose New Toolbox I get this super long tool pane. I resize it to what I want. Then when I close it and do it again it comes back again. Any way to set this up correctly?
I cannot get the Text to show up using the Text tool. All I can see are tiny boxes even made the font 60 points. SHould be huge. Been happening for more than a week and I ran an update via the cloud just last night.

I even resetted the text tool.I don't know what else to really do. I tried unsintalling and reinstalling cs5 with the latest version and it still doesn't want to work properly, I don't know what else to really do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo a few weeks ago I was fiddling in my Font folder and removed some text files that I didn't need. So after that, I tried to use the text tool in my Photoshop CS4, and everytime I get an error that says"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
So my Text Tool in Photoshop is just not functioning at all now, and I know it has something to do with some of the fonts I removed, but I don't remember which ones I deleted
I am using cs3 and up till now all has worked correctly. But now when I try to use the text tool even at the the largest of sizes it is so small it can hardly be seen!.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since I've installed CS6 my Text tool has not been working properly AT ALL. a Number of problems
1. I cant resize using the 00.pt at all. If I switch from 72 to 48 (or any other number) it will stay the same
2. manually rezising also causes issues, I don't get a full preview of the text even after sized. its cut off at 50%-75% height
3. the bounding box doesn't even go outside the entire object. its usually about 20% of the height
4. it often needs to "load" I've NEVER seen this before.
Its also since caused problems to CS5.
Enter 2-3 lines of text either artistic text or paragraph text. Select and change the font for the first line only. Lets say you typed in the sample text using the Arial font and then changed the font for just the first line to Arial Black.
Now, how do you change the font for all the text to Arial Black?Now, try to change the font for all the text in the text object to Arial Black.
It is possible for me to change the font for the entire text to any other font, except the font that is used for the first line.
Even if just a single word is typed, and you change the font for just the first character in the word, you then cannot change the word's font, to the font which you used for just the first character.
I only had Adobe Photoshop for about 2 months now. I have been using the Low Key tool in guided alot. Here recently I went to edit a photo and my reduce effect button tool will not work. I tried everything from restarting my computer and the program. I love using this tool but I can not get the reduce effect to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing two problems. One is the tool icons in Photoshop are disappearing on the screen. I move the cursor and see nothing on my screen.
The second problem is at other times the proper tool icon and function is not showing up and working. I select for example the pen tool and the hand tool icon show up and the function works as the hand tool not the pen tool?
I am using Mac OSX 10.8.3 and can view a font "Curlz MT" in my font book and use it in applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
If I use finder to find the font, no luck, it is also not stored in Library>Fonts. I am trying to see if I can use it in @fontface for use in website but cant seem to find it on my system.
I just purchased a font (Boycot) and added it to my "fonts" folder. It works great in MS Word, but doesn't seem to work in Photoshop. I have CS2 and I'm using a PC. When I select the text tool and then the "Boycot" font, I see only blank spaces (if that) and then I get an error message. The two messeges are: "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialised." or "Could not complete your request because of a program error." Other font's work fine and as I said... the "Boycot" font works in other programs like MS Word.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI keep getting this Alert:"Fonts used in some text layers are not available for activation. You will need to replace these fonts before the layers can be used for vector based output."
However i went through all my text layers (everything unlocked) and changed them to a new active font. I used select-all to ensure i got any possible extra spaces or returns. Are there hidden characters im not seeing? There seem to be some traces of the font im trying to replace left behind that are causing this error, because when i reactivate that font, the problem ceases.
Also! After replacing the old font i have tried outputting a PDF and checking the document properties. The old font does not show in the list of fonts in use.
I created a gradient and tried to save it for web, but the preview only showed me a dark orange color. That was the foreground color, but I don't know why that became the entire picture.
Also, I saved it anyways, and when I opened the image using picasa photo viewer, the gradient showed up just as I wanted it to. However, when I placed it on a webpage, there was only a dark orange color. URL.....
How do I 'resync' those settings? I'm completely new to photoshop so I have no clue how to do that.I also tried changing the foreground color to black, as he suggested. The preview still showed an orange color.

when you create some text, highlight it, then go to the font chooser dropdown menu and use the arrows to scroll through the installed fonts, the highlighted text will change in place to the fonts you are selecting.
Is there some setting you can use to turn this on/off, because I have never seen this work once, and i'm REALLY aching for this type of functionality. So far this is the one thing about Photoshop CS that kills me is choosing from my many fonts... I always end up having to open flash, in which that feature does work for me- but it's not the same when you don't have all the rest of the design right there to be able to see the difference.
I was working on a project and I had recently installed a new font. Now all of a sudden whenever I make a new text box and type some text in nothing shows up. I can only see a tiny black line which isn't even text, even tho its set to 36ft. I changed the font and size to see if it made a difference, and nothing worked. I restarted PS and my computer several times, and still the same thing...

I've used the font tool on CS5 before and there was no problem, but now when I use CS6 it either crashes or it lags so much that I have to force quit.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI appear to have come across a bug after updating Photoshop to latest version. This has happened on two of my machines.
Basically, if I set my font size to say, 12px and then scale this bigger with transform tools making it huge in size. When I click back on it with the type tool, it still tells me the size is 12 px. Even if I then change this to say 6px, it will downsize the huge font to half of its size and not down to 6px.
Just an addition to this, I just reinstalled Photoshop, tried the above before updating and it worked as you'd expect. When scaled the type up using transform and then clicked on the type it would say it was 152.8 for example. If changed it back to 12, it changed back to 12.
Updated my Photoshop to latest update, scaled it up and clicked, said it was still 12pt. Very confusing, but has to be an issue with the update.

So I deleted all fonts except for the required system fonts I believe. But it still crashes when I access the font preview menu. I can't provide a crash log now.

When exporting the second letter, it asks me if I want to replace the file, and then says CorelDraw has stopped working. I've re-installed X4, but to no avail.
My OS is Vista.
I recently got a new computer at work but now some of my font styles aren't showing up as they did before: the font is different and the formating is not the same. I still have access to my old computer, which still has AutoCAD on it and the drawings show up fine. I looked in the forum and people have mentioned sending the font style to the new computer but I am not sure how to do this.

I need to extract text and font from a text layer. No problem, I thought, with gimp-text-layer-get-text and gimp-text-layer-get-font.
But I find that the original text layer was cropped withplug-in-autocrop-layer. Nevertheless Gimp lets me edit the text with the text edit tool - after a confirmation dialog.
But I can't get the text with script-fu. Is there a way to manage it? There are many files involved.
