Aug 7, 2012My 128 Patriot Flash drive is not seen as potential scratch disk by CS5. I reformatted it as exFAT and then as NTFS but still not seen by CS5.

Aug 13, 2008I have an internal expresscard 16 GB flash drive and Photoshop doesn't see it. So I can't select it as a scratch disk. Is there a workaround to get PSCS3 to see this drive? or did I just waste my money?

Lightroom :: External Hard Drive Not Recognized In 4.3?
Jan 10, 2013I have two external HDD's connected to my laptop. I'm using one LR catalog - it is stored on my laptop's SSD.
One external drive (Drive 'A') contains my photo archive - all of my photos. The other external drive (Drive 'B') is a mirror; a duplicate copy of all of the content on the first drive, incase it ever fails.
Q1: Why does LR only display drive 'A'? Even though both drives are on, connected, and working, only drive 'A' appears under the Folders tab. My concern: If - in the future - drive 'A' fails, I need to understand why LR isn't recognizing drive 'B'. Q2: On drive 'A', I right-clicked on the highest level folder in my heirarchy and chose 'Synchronize Folder'. New photos were imported, and old photos were removed. I also made some additional edits to photos on this drive. If drive 'A' ever fails and I need to switch over to my mirrored drive (Drive 'B'), do I also need to right-click on the highest level folder and choose 'Synchronize Folder'?

Jun 27, 2012I'm exporting photos from LR3 via a user export preset (from library: file, export with preset, user preset...) to a flash drive for viewing on a photo frame. It exported 4 photos just fine and now additional files are not being written. I'm am exporting one at a time to control the order they are read on the frame. I use Windows XP and the flash drive is an 8gb newly formatted on the computer. I've removed the drive (yes, safely) and tried numerous times with several other photos from the same folder. It gives me an "export results" message telling me that the file could not be written but no other explanation or info. All photos are jpegs being saved as jpegs and all have usual post processing changes.

Apr 12, 2012I created a folder on my flash drive. I'm trying to use Batch Process to copy the files to the drive. I'm not adding a script. The name of the new folder comes up in the dialogue box, but when I click on the start button I get a notice that the file already exits and do I want to overwrite it. I click on yes. All the photos are then copied, but when I go to the new folder in my flash drive it's empty.
I'm following the instructions in Diane Koers book on PSP X4.
Also, I can't seem to use Batch Process to save my JPEGs and TIFFs. Is it possible to do this.

Something on the startup screen would be great: select project, user, media drive. When using FW800 drives, I typically try to have a discreet project drive that has everything on there for the current project. With the larger Thunderbolt raids, I am going back a little to the old system of having active storage and archive storage. However, when thunderbolt prices come down, I'll most likely have a separate drive for each project again.

I opened Lightroom.
Noticed there was a question mark by the photo folder I needed.
I synchronized the folders. Nada.
I rememebered I moved the images (first line ^^)
I re-imported the images from the external drive into Lightroom.
These images (other than one that was marked previously with a blue label) look completely untouched - completely original files - even though I spent hours working on them.
I am glad the images weren't deleted BUT re-doing 600 images will be a MAJOR FAIL if I can't figure out how to import the images with the settings / developments I did beforehand.
Lightroom :: Merge External Drive Images To Desktop Drive Within Same Master Catalog?
Aug 18, 2013I have about 900 raw files on an external drive. I edited those files using my master catalog using a laptop while still travelling. When I got home, I copied the master catalog from the external drive to the desk top, then opened the master catalog on my desktop. I can see the edited images on the external drive. So far so good.
I want to copy (add) the edited images to my desk top. I tried to export the images as a new catalog and then import it into the desire location on my desktop drive. However, LR5 does not allow that. I get this message: "There is nothing new in the catalog you have selected. All of the catalog's photos are up to date in this catalog." Yes, but the edited images are not on my desktop.....
I also tried to Import from the external drive and then Copy the files to the desktop, but then I lose all of the work done in the develop module and the keywords.
I watched Kost's LR 3 video on merging catalogs, but she dodges the question of how to deal with this issue since the "merge" is within the same catalog.I'm using LR5 with Windows 7.
Lightroom :: Cache Large RAW Files Imported From Network Drive On Local Drive?
Jul 5, 2012I'm copying RAW files from a shoot onto my network RAID drive in a per-album folder, from where I then import into a new LR catalog (I'm using LR 4.1) on my Windows laptop for that album.
I'm finding that editing RAW files on a network drive from a wireless laptop is awfully slow (not to mention not being able to continue the work offline somewhere else), so I'd like to cache those files on my speedy SSD drive just until I'm done editing and exporting/publishing that album.
I back up my per-album catalog onto the network folder alongside the RAW files since that's my IT-managed master repository. When I'm done editing, I'd purge the cached files and just keep the catalog previews on my limited capacity SSD.
So, is there a way to tell LR to, for one/all files imported from a location (in my case a network folder), look in an alternate location for the identical files? Since I create per-album catalogs in per-album folders, there wouldn't be filename clashing. Either LR can provide this caching behavior on its own or I'd manually copy files from the network folder to a local folder and tell LR to look there first.
I don't really want to make copies of files into secondary folders within LR since then it's a hassle to merge edits on the cached copy to its master copy (I haven't done this, but I'd imagine so).
