Photoshop :: Sharp Edges
Nov 17, 2008I'm trying to make the edges sharp, when I use the Rectangle tool there is a 1px line on the edges which I think is suppose to blend the image to the background, but I don't want this 1px line, I want the edges to be sharp. How do I switch this off.
Using CS2, and I'm sure this is a default setting because I remember reading something about it in the book but now I can't find it.

Jul 29, 2006I have designed a small gif motif for a webpage. I used paths which I then filled so it would be sharp. However, when I reduce it to the size I would like on the web page (about 45 pixels) , the edges look ragged. I can't seem to get rid of the bitmapped look.

Jul 4, 2013I have Photoshop CS5. When stroking type, I can't get the edges/corners sharp (see attachment)- is there a way to do this? Possible in CS6? I believe possible in Illustrator, but cheaper and easier for me to do it in Photoshop if possible (I don't have any version of Illustrator), and I won't have to learn a new program.

Oct 31, 2004When I try to merge multiple images into one - like overlays and what not I always end up with 'sharp' edges between the layer - anyone have any suggestions as to how I can soften them up some?
I would imagine part of the problem is I have been using the polygonal lasso to help block off the areas i want to layer mask - I have tried the free hand lasso but the results are too wonky.

Feb 22, 2012I have this cylinder (purple) that I want to cut into this smooth curved sheet.
I have thought about booleans but I don't understand why the stack closes and how to smooth the new sharp edges created when i do it.
How would you go about it?
The aim is to create a cylindrical opening in the sheet while maintaing the smoothing, while getting the edges themselves smoothed.
My stack is EditPoly, TurboSmooth, Bend, Box.

Aug 4, 2012Is there a stock filter or one that can be added to GIMP that sort of rounds the edges of sharp parts of an image?
I'm looking for a filter or effect that can round the sharp edges of a bitmap image of a font, to give it that 'Xerox Machine' effect where a sharp font looses it's sharp corners and gets a rounded effect from being copied over and over.
I already tried the 'Gaussian Blur' filter, but that just creates soft edges and not the rounded corners that I'm looking for. The effect that I'm looking for is not fuzzy or blurred, but is more of a 'rounded corners' effect... it can be seen in the attached image that is below.

The documment printed fine, but when the PDF is viewed online in Fire Fox, the gradient feather no longer displays and only the sharp edges of the photo are visible. The reason I am looking for it now is that I imagine it'd be a good way of creating a gallery wrap section for a canvas print, taking the edge detail and reproducing it. Aug 22, 2012I have CS5.5 When I open a jpeg in Illustrator, the "edges" (i.e. the box around the picture) prevent me from doing anything. When you hover over this box it actually says "edge". I am trying to ungroup a picture in order to (hopefully) change the colour of each item. I have tried the help pages as well as the Internet in vain. I have tried another jpeg just in case but the same thing happens. When I open the pic in Illustrator, the edges/box prevent me from proceeding further. the ungrouping and changing colours tasks?

Sep 20, 2011When I use Paint module with Graphics menu, I get bad edges randomly on the image in action. The default setting of Anti-aliasing in paint module is 4 now, and I have tried to change the value from 4 to 1, 1 to 4. the only differences are the amount of, position of bad edges.
I also tried to check the "Divide" function in the media-list, but it gets from specific colour to white. I only want to take the bad edges away from the image.

Jan 29, 2014I am now trying Creative Cloud and I came with this bug. When I use a simple action to find and replace a text string in my file it will crash the Illustrator.
My actions is pretty simple:
Find > "aa" (I do have to check all the options to work)
Find and Replace > "aa" to "2014.01.29"
This action works well if I use it once by the Edit menu, but if I close the Illustrator and reopen, it'll not work again and will crash the software. Everyday I do update my action to actual date, so the action will work normally but sometimes I do have to close the app and I have to make the action again and again everytime.
This was a problem already in CS5, last version that I used. I'm using Windows 8.

So basically, I created coloured text inside Adobe Illustrator and however much I zoom into the text, the text always appears to have smooth edges. Once I click on 'Save For Web', the edge all around the text becomes rough and aliased. I chose GIF and PNG, but it still happens. The text is on a transparency background. The same problem applies to images when I am creating a logo.
