after updating from LR 4.4 to 5.2 i have a problem with my existing catalogues: All my existing pictures with healing brushes in it now have sharp edges instead of the edges they had in LR 4.4 by default. I used the brush often, so the main part of my work looks deformed now in LR 5.2.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make the edges sharp, when I use the Rectangle tool there is a 1px line on the edges which I think is suppose to blend the image to the background, but I don't want this 1px line, I want the edges to be sharp. How do I switch this off.
Using CS2, and I'm sure this is a default setting because I remember reading something about it in the book but now I can't find it.
I have designed a small gif motif for a webpage. I used paths which I then filled so it would be sharp. However, when I reduce it to the size I would like on the web page (about 45 pixels) , the edges look ragged. I can't seem to get rid of the bitmapped look.

I have thought about booleans but I don't understand why the stack closes and how to smooth the new sharp edges created when i do it.
How would you go about it?
The aim is to create a cylindrical opening in the sheet while maintaing the smoothing, while getting the edges themselves smoothed.
My stack is EditPoly, TurboSmooth, Bend, Box.
it seems it's impossible to paint sharp edges in mudbox (ie when painting there is no softness to the brush)... is there a good way to do this that i'm missing?

I'm looking for a filter or effect that can round the sharp edges of a bitmap image of a font, to give it that 'Xerox Machine' effect where a sharp font looses it's sharp corners and gets a rounded effect from being copied over and over.
I already tried the 'Gaussian Blur' filter, but that just creates soft edges and not the rounded corners that I'm looking for. The effect that I'm looking for is not fuzzy or blurred, but is more of a 'rounded corners' effect... it can be seen in the attached image that is below.

I believe possible in Illustrator, but cheaper and easier for me to do it in Photoshop if possible (I don't have any version of Illustrator), and I won't have to learn a new program.

I would imagine part of the problem is I have been using the polygonal lasso to help block off the areas i want to layer mask - I have tried the free hand lasso but the results are too wonky.

The documment printed fine, but when the PDF is viewed online in Fire Fox, the gradient feather no longer displays and only the sharp edges of the photo are visible. Is there a specific setting when saving to PDF that I need to select for best viewing online? I'm on a Mac CS 5.5.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to avoid having a brush be cut off by the document edge when you place it? It's annoying when you want to move it that it's been cut off.
I know one way is to place it in the center when you stamp it, and then move it - but that doesn't work if the brush is larger than the document. Only other thought I had would be to stamp into a larger document and then move to the smaller document - but if I do that, I may as well just work with .png files.
Why the heck does Inventor arbitrarily orient sketches as it sees fit? I often create my first sketch on the right (YZ) plane and Inventor, stupidly turns the sketch where "RIGHT" in the viewcube reads from top to bottom.
I know all the things to do to AFTER this happens, but it shouldn't happen in the first place. If I turn my sketch so that up is up, like it should be, I then have to remember that vertical is horizontal, which is now vertical. I can't change the sketch coordinate system. It's the first sketch and there is nothing to align it to.
How to prevent the above example from occurring in the first place.
This, and the fact that I can't dimension to any existing vertices or edges without projecting them first, really make me hate using Inventor sometimes. To me, these are huge problems, neither of which Solidworks has. At worst, both of these behaviors should be configurable.
if i want to target the existing surface beyond the edges of my road/sidewalk, should i use the link slope to surface subassembly at both ends? i want the model to test if in a cut or fill situation, and then target.

Slideshow with LR4 for raw and JPG files is not sharp enough (seems a bit soft or appears not enough resolution) when comparing to using ViewNX2 for NEF files or using photo explorer of Windows 7 (with plugin) for DNG files. The same result for a small notebook screen or a 42" 1080P display. What is your best way to conduct slideshow of raw files for the right resolution that meeting display size? I have set my standard preview size to 2048pixels and medium quality.

No, these are not modified files. They are fresh imports with 1:1 previews as always.I can get proper 1:1 in the app window. Lucky I know this or I'd have thrown away lots of stuff.
It's the Window>secondarydisplay>show that fails. That display is actually the DVI input.The primary screen app window is the VGA input.

I have been using previous version of LR and never had this problem. Image is not sharp and noise filter doesn't seem to be applied when I do my export. It looks completely different on a Dev Module.

Spot healing brush "sticking"?
Basically, a substantial portion of the time I hit "Q" I do not get the circle for spot heal. The cursor disappears and I cannot see anything. However, the tool is working, but I can't see its size. If I turn it off and back on I get the crosshairs and thus I can click and hide spots, but I can't see when I grow/shrink it, and I can't see when I move it.
I've seen this with all of the Lightroom 4.1 versions (RC1, RC2, and now GM) on OS X 10.7.4. This is on a Mac Pro with ATI graphics.
I noticed a "focus" problem using dual screen. When i activate the "Loupe" (1:1 mode) view on the 2nd screen, and i browse my pictures in the developp module (using the film strip and arrows on keyboard for example). The view on the 2nd screen is not displayed as sharp as it should be.
If i touch the detail slider (change the value and make it back to its previous value) the picture is update correctly (sharp) . Do not happen when i use the loupe in "one screen mode".
i was hoping and waiting for better healing/spot removal brush in LR4... and now i am disappointed . should i wait for LR5?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR 4.1. When in survey mode, if I select an image and hit Z the resulting 1:1 image is not sharp. If I zoom in or out and back to 1:1 it becomes sharp. This is not a problem in Loupe mode. It's not a delay issue - it never becomes sharp unless I change the zoom level. I have 1:1 and standard previews pre-generated.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMany times my raw images are left with what can only be described as a "haze" over them. It is not a lens deal, it is something I'm not doing in the raw conversion process because .jpegs don't have it albeit .jpegs have their other weaknesses. Sometimes the black slider will remove the haze, but many times I'm left with too many areas that are dark. I think it is a contrast issue, but I really stuggle getting rid of the haze and keep a sharp contrasty image without adding more deep shadows to the image.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just discovered, that when in Library module, and viewing my photos in Fill mode, it is not sharp. It is in fact so blurry, that it is unusable. Not sure I remember it correctly, but it happened also during the tethered shooting and viewing image on secondary monitor.
Interesting thing is, that once in a Develop module, Fill mode preview is sharp. I tried different settings re preview in Catalog Settings and Preferences, but no success.
