View 3 RepliesBasically PS is freezing up temporarily, after 2-3 minutes then it becomes usaable again until it decides to feeze again. I do most of my editing in Lightroom, and only use PS because I like to just do soem finally touch ups if needed (bit of dodge/burn) and i like to use photokit sharpener (I like to brush in sharpening with actions i have created). So, i can't say for sure what initiates the freezing. Sometiems its while trying to brush in sharpening, other times it won't allow me to save.
I'm on Mac using Snow Leopard. 4Gb RAM. I use a logitech mouse. I had previous been using CS4 with zero problems.I've tried unchecking "save in backgrorund" as well as "use graphics processor"
I installed Mavericks onto an imac running 16gb ram, 3.4ghz HD. I'm running Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.5 & using a wacom with the latest drivers 6.3.7-3. I've had no issues previously but since installing Mavericks every 3 or 4 minutes communication is lost with the keyboard.
By that I mean Photoshop will no longer respond to any keyboard shortcuts. I can keep working in Photoshop, it does not freeze completely but I'm locked into the tool i'm using unable to zoom in/out or any other task via the keyboard .If I exit the app and then return to it the keyboard functionality returns also.
I am also able to jiggle the keyboard back into action by clicking away form the work area and onto another palette. Returning to the work area brings back the keyboard. Bluetooth keyboard & batteries changed too.
I am currently using a windows 7 Toshiba laptop. I have downloaded the free trial of Photoshop but after around 5 mintues of use, it encounters a problem and has to close. Unfortunately, windows can not find the problem. I am therefore unable to do any work. I have tried restarting the laptop several times but it still keeps happening.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to CS6. I cant do anything in photoshop for more than a minute or so before it crashes. Both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions.I have reinstalled twice and applied all of the available updates. Tried running them as administrator with the same result.
I also updated my display drivers to the latest version and I do not have any fonts installed other than what comes with windows. This is a brand new computer Windows 7 64 bit

since I´ve installed Photoshop CS6 from the cloud with all the latest updates, the program crashes all day long, its really frustrating... I´ve never had similar issues with CS5 before. I´m running out of memory when opening a file (no matter how big!) and the program freezes, doesn´t respond any more.

When I run CS4, after about 5 minutes ( of non-use), it closes automatically.
It was working fine until last night.
I have Windows XP Home Edition.

View 2 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop CS will take approximately 7 minutes to boot if I don't goto:
C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop CSPlug-ins
And place a ~ in front of the Imports & Exports folder (a ~ in front of a folder name will prevent PS from loading that folder's contents on boot)
The only file in this folder is:
TWAIN_32.8BA
Also, I have to goto:
C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop CSPlug-insAdobe Photoshop Only
And ~ out the Automate folder (and the Online folder inside it) or I'll get another extremely long timeout on booting)
Does anyone know how I can re-enable these things?
The "ONLINE" folder got me thinking. I'm using a hardware firewall and a software firewall. But even when I disable the software one, I still get the long boots.
I am a paying subscriber of Adobe CC and my problem is this. After about 15 minutes of use in Photoshop CC (32 or 64 bit), it suddenly stops letting me either create a new file or open an existing one. I select File->New->the new document dialog appears and I select the defaults and click OK. Nothing happens. Same thing with File->Open->select an existing image file and it never appears.
If I reboot my computer or logout and sign in with a different account, re-open Photoshop CC, it allows me to create and open files without issue...for about 15 minutes and then the same thing happens. This is NOT an illegal copy of the program! I am a paid subscriber.
My computer is a MacPro
OSX v. 10.7.5
Processor 3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
48GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Ram
Both the Start up disk and the Data Disk are SSD Hard Drives
I'm running the latest PS CD6 v.13.0 x64 it's NOT the fastest computer ON THE PLANET..
I'm using PS during the day (I'm a professional photographer and I use PS about 6-8 hours a day).....Liquify gradually get's slower and slower to open. By the end of the day it's taking 6-10 minutes for Liquify to open. I have to literally "RE-BOOT" my computer to get it to start working properly. And...for goodness sake....do not LEAVE Photoshop open over night...by the next day....I can't even open a JPG it's so slow...
NOW...compare that to my LAPTOP....MacBooK Pro.....no where near the processing power and no where near the Ram copacity....and PS CS6 opens perfectly....Liquify POPS OPEN so fast I can't even blink my eyes before it's open.
Why is the faster more robust computer opening LIQUIFY slower than the lesser computer?
My Photoshop Elements freezes up after 30 seconds to 3 minutes of use. What can I do to fix this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedInstalled Elements 10 on Win 7 64 bit laptop that is plenty powerful.Created a shortcut to launch Elements directly from the directory it installed in. It can take several minutes to open, if it does. Have tried Run as Admin, no difference. Sometimes nothing happens and I have to try several times to get it open. Once open I went to Preferences and turned off all Media Analysis, and all Third Party things and anything else that might be slowing it. Only imported about 50 files into the album, and it still takes so long to open I can't tell it is even trying.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter only two selections the tool becomes unresponsive for minutes.
I'm on a 2.6 Ghz retina MacBook Pro, 16 Gb RAM, and this in connection with an SSD should make this tool very good to use. Operating system: OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion", latest update.
Unfortunately, it seems to develop some kind of overload, during which you cannot use Photoshop at all. No commands like "undo selection", "quit", "close file" are accepted.
Hint: it seems to happen when you option select (subtract from an existing selection).
Hint: the freeze can be shortened by a tool switch (has to be through clicking on a tool, keyboard commands are frozen as well)
Hint: the "subtract selection" move that caused the freeze appears after Photoshop comes back to life after a couple of minutes. The subtraction to the selection seems to be random, makes no sense, and is not the regular function of the tool.
First step after this freeze would be to undo the last selection, and continue working. If you do several "add to selection" moves, they add up in a kind of waiting line. If you do the subtract from selection move, this doesn't work, and the freeze happens.
So far, I have not noticed the freeze when adding to a selection. Adding to a selection was always quick and instant. The bug must sit in the "subtract from selection" code.On most freezes, the ants continue walking, I just had one (again with subtracting selection) where even the ants stopped walking.
I don't think it has anything to do with Photoshop working. I have used the quick selection tool regularly under CS5 on my old machine (which was a museum piece), and while I had to wait sometimes, it was never ground to a freeze/halt like the quick selection tool under CS6.
I was using photoshop cs5 and am currently on a trail of CC, everything else is working fine, just File>export>render video takes along time for the dialog box to appear, which was not the case in cs5 (almost instatly opens).
Any settings I can change to speed this up? Im using Windows 7 32bit.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software twice at the recomendation of a tech rep, changed preferences, deleted preferences, turned over my screen to a rep and still have the same problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running the Adobe Photoshop CS3 trial on a HP Pavillion tx2000z (2 gig ram) in Vista. I'm on day 14 and suddenly it doesn't work anymore.
When I open it, it lets me open a photo or create a new canvas. Then, I can do one thing-like create a type layer/mask, a fill layer, etc etc. After that, all the options in all the menus become unclickable, except 'open recent,' but I can't select an option within that menu, so a lot of good that is. It won't even let me save unless I exit the program, in which case it brings up the "are you sure you don't want to save before you quit" dialogue box.
I originally thought that it was part of the trial that I would lose these features.
I realize that if it was part of the trial, I would be able to click "Activate" or "Register."
Have a problem with Photoshop 7 freezing sometimes when I use any of the painting tools, then have to restart the computer. Running Mac, OS 9.2.2, 500mb ram.

Running Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP Pro SP2
It is a very fast machine, but when I'm using Photoshop CS3, it freezes, like a slow CPU...
It runs fast for heavy operations, like applying filters, but freezes with very simple operations, like creating a new blank layer... when I press CTRL+L for levels, it takes a long time to appear the levels window...
Also, the mouse pointer 'jumps', freezes...
I tried to change the "scratch disk" options... and it still freezes...
I have New iMac and processing works fine. However, 90% of the time I get a "circling wheel" for 2 to 5 minutes when I save or rate a photograph.
