Photoshop :: Erase Writes And Write Does Nothing?

Jul 24, 2012

I have Windows 7 and Photoshop CS6 that I bought today.  I was playing around with new brushes I downloaded today and all of a sudden they stopped working.  They wouldn't write and then I got this idea that maybe they were erasers and not writables.

Well they did not erase, they wrote and not in my primary color.  Then when I went to show my husband...all of a sudden they worked correctly.  Then I went on my merry way playing with my new brushes and they broke again.  I am going to try to include pics here but I am not real good at HTML.  It just seems easier to show you what is on my screen than to describe it.

So, the first picture is when I used my brush as a Brush Tool as you can see.  I had to zoom in so you can see how many pixels it actually wrote.  As you can see the brush is much larger.  This is the second time it did this.  The first time it wrote many more pixels, actually looked kinda cool with this faded ink kind of look to it.

The second is what happened when I tried to erase my coloring.  As you can see, it choose the secondary color.  I am not at all sure why it would choose that color of all colors.  Like I said, I know nothing about computers and I am learning Photoshop.

After Effects :: CS6 RAM Render To Scratch Ssd Writes Way Too Slow

Jan 21, 2014

The thing is that I recently bought a new pc workstation w/ the following specs:

32 Bg Gigabyte Motherboard - Intel i7 hexacore 4930K 3,4GHz w/ hyperthr. (12Mb Cache)
NVidia GTX-780
2 x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB - raid for OS and apps
1 x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB - as AE's dedicated Scratch disk
1 x Western Digital WD20EZRX 2 TB - as storage
Windows 8 / AE CS6 11.0.2.12

Previews:
- Adaptive Resolution Limit: 1/8 (Ray-tracing on CPU since my GTX-780 isn't in the list)
Viewer Quality: Zoom Quality: Faster
Color Mgmt Quality: More Accurate Except RAM Preview
Alternate RAM Preview: Preview: 5 frames

Media & Disk Cache:
- Disk Cache enabled (max. Disk Cache Size: 100 Gb) - set on AE's dedicated Scratch disk
- Conformed Media Cache: Database & Cache - also set on AE's dedicated Scratch disk

Memory & Multiprocessing
- Installed RAM: 31,0 Gb
- RAM reserved for other applications: 15Gb (I'm also using Maxon C4d)
- After Effects Multiprocessing's Render Multiple Frames Simulteneously: enabled
- Installed CPU's: 12
- CPUs reserved for other apps: 6
- RAM allocation per background CPU: 3 Gb
- Actual CPUs that will be used: 4

My problem now is that my RAM previews (w/ and w/o Shift) are pretty darn slow, regarding the fact that I'm working on a really basic scene now in 3D space (Classic Render), involving 1 layer w/ the Stroke effect, VCP's Sure Target 2 cam set up and 2 small precomps w/ a small folding contentframe.

To RAM preview a 5 sec take, it takes almost 10 sec to build up this little scene. When I look at the processes in my task manager, I see that as soon as I RAM preview to my Scratch disk, the writing speed is a very dissapointing 3,4 Mb/s. I take it that this is an AE issue, since writingspeed to my Scratch SSD is checked and confirmed 180Gb/s +.

Photoshop :: Can Only Erase In Selections

Jul 3, 2009

I just installed CS2, and I can only use the eraser tool to erase if what I'm erasing is inside a selection. Otherwise I click and try to erase but nothing erases. Even when I drop selection (ctrl D) and there is NO selection, I still can not erase. I have to select all (ctrl a) in order to erase anything in the workspace.

Photoshop :: Brush Erase Has No Effect

Feb 12, 2006

I try to erase part of a layer, it won't have an effect when the eraser is switched to brush or pencil. But it does work fine when set to block.

However, -and here's the strange thing- when the eraser is set to brush and the erase isn't working, if I go at the layer crazily, constantly clicking at the layer, eventually the eraser does work! Every single click is registered in the history window, but the actual action of erasing only actually happens sparsely after random clicking. And it seems to be completely random as well. It doesn't seem to depend on where I click, or the frequency of clicks or even the time after the first click.

Photoshop :: Erase A Border In The Foreground

Aug 12, 2008

I have an image of a website form, and a border that goes around it (the <fieldset> tag). Behind this border exists a samurai's head and some nice looking flowers, which if he knew about them, I am relatively sure the samurai would be pissed.

Anyway, I want to be able to erase the border from the top of the samurai's head so that it will ultimately look like the border's lines run behind the head, and not over the top. I am aware that one way to do this would involve rendering the samurai object separate from the image, but that would be a lot of work, and I am looking for an easier / better solution.

Photoshop :: Can't Erase Or Paint On Layers In CS2

Apr 20, 2009

I assume I have done something that will not allow me to "Paint" or "Erase" on layers. When I choose the paintbrush, the "chip" indicating the color no longer appears on the toolbar, opacity is set to 100%. Blending option is set to "Normal". "Paint Fill", shapes, filters and everything else works, so the layer or pixels are not locked. If I use one of the tools, the action appears in the "history" pallette, but does not appear on the display. This problem occurs on multiple images.I'm sure there are more settings that are relavent to solving the issue, but I can't think of any more right now.

Photoshop :: How To Erase Elements From A Layered File

Mar 31, 2013

I took a time lapse of 240 photos of the highway below. What I want to do is create a background plate where all the cars are erased from the shot. The steps I've been doing are:

Open photos A & B in Photoshop (I'm using CS6)Drag photo B's background layer into A as a new layer and line up with A using 50% opacity and eyeballing it (is there an easier way to do this? the photos need to match exactly)Start erasing in obvious areas from layer BMerge Layers when there's nothing else to erase Repeat 1-4 with a new photo.

I don't think I'm doing this right though, because the baseline photo always has cars I can't erase. I can do the reverse, and take photo A into another B photo, but it just feels like the way I'm doing this is wrong.

Is there a cleaner, more precise way to do this? If I've added a layer with no cars on top of the background layer, shouldn't I be able to erase the cars from the background layer?

How can I easily reselect the background and erase properly? When I use with the Quick Selection or Magic Wand tool, it doens't select all of the transparent background. I seem to remember a tip where I used another feature of CS5 that darkened the transparent background so much that it was eay to erase the missed background.

Photoshop :: Grayscale Doesn't Remove Col-erase Lines From Sketches

Jun 13, 2012

I can't seem to remove col-erase lines from my sketches in Photoshop.I have Photoshop CS5 and my OS is Windows 7

1) Scan drawing and open in Photoshop

2) Go to channels and remove the other colours than the colour of the pencil (ex. remove green and blue if the colour is red)

3) Change the mode to Grayscale (and back to RGB/CMYK if you want to colour it)

My problem is.. that it only goes halfway. It looks fine until step three. When I change it to Grayscale, the col-erase lines come back, just in B/W and I need to erase them anyway.
