I have been editing a batch of photos and everything had been working fine.
But then it was not allowing me to directly edit the layers. I cannot draw, paint, erase, smooth, etc. I can draw shapes and select and delete material, but have no independent control with the tools.
How, after changing a photo to B&W, to color back in a section to the original colors, but can I change those colors to a different color? Like if I wanted to change a hat from red to green.

The eraser and brush tools have no affect on the layers. It's weird, because they were working yesterday on the same image.
New layer, select the cloud using the Magic Wand and on your new layer draw a light grey line along the bottom of the cloud

Now, I tried to just use a pencil and then fill it in, but that didn't work, so I'm sure there must be an easy way.
I have been erasing the hue layers when i do specific pictures when i want the backround to be a different hue than the foreground. And i would select the hue layer, and just use the erase tool and it would remove that specific hue in that area... Well now i will not do that anymore. I must have checked some box on accident or somthing. when i select the eraser tool and the hue layer, it shows the eraser circle on the picture, but it will not erase anything...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've come across an issue using X6 I haven't seen before. After working on a multi-layer pspimage file, saving it and reloading I can no longer edit one of the raster layers. When the layer is selected with the pick tool it shows the circle with line when mousing over. It was not merged or locked so not sure what's causing this and never came across this with any of the previous PSP versions I've used.
PSP X6 16.1.0.48
UPDATE: Tried making sure it was the top layer and still could not edit the layer. I then made all the other layers invisible and at that point it would allow editing the image. Is there some hidden feature in X6 I'm missing or is this a quirk?
I am starting to color some old line art (cartoons) but can't get any (eraser, brush etc) tools to work on the non background layer. I could just auto fill on the background but that is too finicky, too many open shapes that end up filling the whole page in that color! I want so that I can color in indiscriminately w/o worrying about covering my lines.
How come I can't get so that when I erase, I don't get the transparency checkerboard underneath? I put the BG layer on top then the erase tool does not work! What fundamental thing did I forget?
I am unable to get my erase brush to work. I click on the "Erase" option, the "-" brush comes up, I run it over the masker area and nothing is erased. I try the other option of holding the ALT key while brushing to erase, the "-" comes up, but nothing is erased as I run over the masked area.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI assume I have done something that will not allow me to "Paint" or "Erase" on layers. When I choose the paintbrush, the "chip" indicating the color no longer appears on the toolbar, opacity is set to 100%. Blending option is set to "Normal". "Paint Fill", shapes, filters and everything else works, so the layer or pixels are not locked. If I use one of the tools, the action appears in the "history" pallette, but does not appear on the display. This problem occurs on multiple images.I'm sure there are more settings that are relavent to solving the issue, but I can't think of any more right now.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble in Photoshop CS6 trying to erase outer edges on a pasted video layer I have a short animated video I am working on but when I paste an animated video from file I cannot erase the outer edges because every time I try to do this it converts the pasted video to a smart object and then when I only gives the option to rasterize the pasted video layer, after it is rasterized it becomes a static image which dosent have any animation at all. Is there any way I can erase the edges around the video layer without this happening?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI create an adjustment layer and then want to erase part of that layer, nothing is happening. I've tried painting to lighten or darken and tried the burn and dodge tool, but nothing happens.
What have I missed? I'm working just the same as in CS3, but with no results.
I loaded one PNG pic.
I added an alpha channel to make it a transparency.
I used the select by color tool.
I clicked white & removed.
I saved. I switched to eraser - but it is acting like I'm trying to erase something off the transparency layer and won't erase anything.
I have the correct layer selected in the layers window.
using mac OS 10.6.8 with CS5 Xtnd: I don't get it! When I first began using this app (and I've spent much time swearing at it with no result) and until recently and in either normal or full size mode showing xhairs and whether I use as paint or erase the effect is always considerably less than the diameter of the tip.
What is with this? I require a tip that goes right to the edge of what is supposed to be the tip...
I am having trouble getting the erase tool to erase part of an elipse shape in Corel Draw. I select the erase tool and click and drag across the part of an elipse that I want to get rid of (so far so good), then I release the mouse and an outline of the nib tool is left behind.

It is working only if I have the points in the DWG. If there are no points, I receive "Unknow command DPL". Is there anything I can do in order to avoid this error?
I have a photo that I've duplicated into 4 layers. (1 background layer and 3 edit layers).
I'm trying the use the Erase Tool to erase the same section on the 3 edit layers at the same time. This action saves me repeating the same erase on all three layers as separate actions.

I have a customized button to draw an ‘ac-arrow’. I created a lisp to create the layer “G-ANNO-LEDR”
if the layer name is not found. The advanced part I would like is:
Current layer: E-ANNO-WIRE
Ac-Arrow Leader: G-ANNO-LEDR
OPTION 1:
If, say I am on current layer “E-ANNO-WIRE” and need to draw my “ac-arrow” leader, and continue working
on the original layer “E-ANN-WIRE” (and have the leader be drawn [remain] on the layer “G-ANNO-WIRE”).
With this option, I have the block “ac-arrow” imbedded in my template drawing file to have the block at hand.
With this option, the layer “G-ANNO-LEDR” will be created IF it is not on the drawing.
OPTION 2:
- Currently be on layer “E-ANNO-WIRE”
- Bring in the block “ac-arrow” from my block library “L:AutoCADSymbols”
- Draw the “ac-arrow” leader which will be on layer “G-ANNO-LEDR” (this layer created IF it is not
on the current drawing).
- After the leader is drawn’
- Be put back to the layer I was, “E-ANNO-WIRE”, and continue working.
The OPTION 2 is what I would really like to have. A while back, I happen to see one like OPTION 2, but I cannot
find it anymore on the users groups. I have been searching for a while now.
Currently, I use the button in my customized toolbar (see image) and have to have the “ac-arrow” block in my drawing and have its layer created in the drawing.
A small feature I have been using for years, and find very useful, was changed in X6 Update 3. Using the Erase with the ALT key use to erase in a straight line from one point to another point. Now after installing Update 3 this key combination is used to interactively adjust transparency (a new feature according to the release notes).
Is the point-to-point erase feature gone or can I somehow adjust settings to get it back? Or is there now another key used for this?

I need to remove a picture of a horse in the background and replace it with a picture of a fence similar to the rest of the picture. I know how to erase the image using the lasso tool and the magic wand. How do I clone part of the background to replace the erased image and then blend the two pictures together?

Now I want to add a layer I guess and paint my own wing using the bottem layer as a template. I need to trace the pannel lines on a layer and paint the wing designs on another.
Can I trace the pannel lines on one layer, paint on another,then move the pannel lines on top of the other layer. And how do I then save only the two layers I have created without the original pic on bottem.
I had to restore my laptop to factory settings, which means I needed to re-install GIMP too. So I went to download GIMP on the site, and 2.8 was the only version there so I went for it. Installed my tablet too, with driver. GIMP recognizes the tablet, but whenever I try to draw, I get a semi see-through line, instead of a bold one - and there is no change in this when I change the pressure on the pen. When I used it before, it always changed the opacity of the brush in accordance with the pressure on the pen. But I don't know how to change this in GIMP now?

I can see lines as I draw once I specify the first point with ortho on or off, but I can't see shapes (dimensions, circles, rectangles, ellipse, or box) while I draw. Once I select the second point the object does appear but a setting has changed and I can't figure out how to get it back to normal.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am not able to draws circles and lines etc. using the ribbon or the command line. i am using the correct procedures per the tutorials and I have Google search how to add circles. I click the circle on the ribbon, choose my center point and drag to choose the radius, left click and no circle, same procedure for a simple line.
Is there something that needs to be activated for these to work? I have an activation code which I do not remember using when I installed the software, I only remember using the serial number and product key.
