Jul 30, 2013I'm trying to get the file name of a file outside the search path. Obviously (findfile) is not an option. The file location changes with each project so adding a search path is also not an option. I can get the path to the file but i can't seem to figure out how to get the file name. I can also get the first set of characters, as they are constant from project to project, it's just the end of the file name that changes. The file is always a PDF.

But i would like only pictures from my mother without other persons. Something like... "Person is mother and not person "sister" and not person "friends" etc.

Apr 29, 2011I just re-install my ACAD to a new PC.
When I do plotting from DWG to PDF now, it doesn't plot to the same folder as the DWG file and the file name also. It used to do that on my old PC.
Go through the settings and it doesn't have an option to let me plot to the same DWG folder or an option to plot to PDF with the same file name as the DWG.

I don't use tags, but I give folder names meaningfull names.
So for example if I have
Mark in Boston
Peter in New York
Mark in Rome
I would like to do a search like
1)
Find of pictures that whose's folders contains "*Mark*"
and this will pick "Mark in Boston" and "Mark in Rome"
2)
Find "Mark" or "Peter" and he will give me pictures from all the threee directory.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Search Through Vault Folder?
Apr 11, 2013I'm using the free Vault that doesn't have a batch print option so I've been writing some code that does the trick.
The code lists open drawings, assemblies and parts, and depending onwhich is selected, displays a list of all the drawings associated with the file and it's sub-components.
Everything is good except that when the list of drawings is populated I am only able to search through the working folder for drawings. This means that if the drawing has been modified by another, or the drawing has not been opened on the local computer, it will not print (or print the old version).
Is there a way to pull the latest files from vault into the working folder automatically? Currently the only way this is possible is by selecting "Get/Checkout" in vault and downloading the files.
AutoCAD Express Tools :: Field To Show Only Part Of The Filename?
Jul 15, 2013Basically we set up our file names with a # and the title of the drawing. I want to create a field that only shows the number thats in the file name.
Example:
if the filename is "10101template.dwg", i only want the 10101 to show up in my field.
is there a diesel expression or something along those lines that would chose only the first 5 characters in the file name? (our job numbers are 5 #'s long and are the beginning portion of the filename).
if not, is there an expression that would show all numbers in the file name?
I realize there are a few simliar posts, but I haven't found exactly what i am trying to do, but if i do find a solution elsewhere, i will post it here.

Nov 12, 2013My catalog folders are organized by YYYY-MM_TRIPNAME and contain subfolders by YYYY-MM-DD_LOCATIONNAME. Often I want to find a specific image that I took on a trip. I do remember the trip name and often the location name but not the date. How in LR can I search for a folder (or folders) whose name contains the trip or location name? I haven't tagged the image files (I should have but never did). Is there a solution without having to leave LR and go to the OS?

Nov 8, 2011Create a Content Center Part that prompts for a file name and sets the Part Number to whatever I save the part as? It would also be nice to... Have the browser Display name the same as the saved filename.
If I have a standard part with a blank filename, inventor will make the part number equal the filename at the first save. It is this functionality that I require when using Custom Content parts.
E.G. If I have a length of 'RHS 200x100x6.3 - 2000mm' selected from content centre and I want the filename to be saved as 'Part-001', then I would like the Part Number to be set as 'Part-001'.
If I then place the same member in another project/assembly I may want to call it 'ProjectPart-100', where the part number would then be 'ProjectPart-100' and so on.
This method ignores the filename entry in the Ipart table.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Part Number In IProperties Is Automatically Updated To Match New Filename
Jun 13, 2013When you do a Save As or Save Copy As in Inventor the part number in the iProperties is automatically updated to match the new filename. I would expect the Document.SaveAs method in the API to act in a similar way. However I found out that this is not the case.
SaveAs: Document.SaveAs(filename, False) does not update the part number. The new part will still have the same part number as the original part. This can give problems since in the BOM parts with the same part number are interpreted as the same physical part.
SaveCopyAs: Document.SaveAs(filename, True) does work as expected and the part number will update correctly.
Is this a bug in the API? or is there a reasonable explanation for this?

Sometimes, when I open the folder to work on the image files in Photoshop Elements 11, I find the files list in the proper sequential order, but other times, especially when I have recently had some files open, the files will be listed in the order that I last opened them. How can I force PSE 11 to always list them in numerical order upon opening the folder?

Oct 2, 2012When I want to search in connect, I select the folders I want to include in my search, that is fine.But when I close the progarm and restart it the selection is reset so nothing is selected except the X6 content on disc.
In X5, X6 it would keep the selected folders and they would remain selected and ready to go each time I started connect or CorelDraw.But in X6.1, it seems that each time I close the program it resets everything.
I select the folders I want to use in my search, favorites are locations I want to use in every search.But when I close down for the day and restart CorelDraw the next day and go to connect, this is what I get, all check boxes cleared.
is there a way to get it to keep my selections when I close the program?To me, at least, this is annoying to have to select the folders every time I start the program.

Photoshop Elements :: Organizer Failed During Folder / File Move
Nov 9, 2012I have a large image collection, in excess of 40,000. I'm running on a PC with Windows 7 and all updates installed. I just purchased PSE 11 to replace PSE 10. After installing PSE 11 I converted my catalog. That seemed to go OK. At that point I discovered that my C: drive was almost full so I decided to move my image collection from its C: drive location to an external hard drive that had sufficient capacity. In order to ensure the integrity of the catalog I decided that I should use the PSE 11 Organizer to move the files. This would allow the Organizer to update the location information for the files as it moved them, although it was clear that this would take many hours to complete. So, using Organizer I did a "drag and drop" of my image collection's root file from the C: location to the external drive which happened to be the J: drive. Organizer appeared to be running properly so I left it to continue overnight. The next morning I discovered that only about 2/3 of the files had been moved. There was a very cryptic message that said the opertion could not be completed because of "possibly unsupported files types, files with read only attributes.." etc. I did not write down the actual message and it did not tell me where in the transfer the failure occurred. After doing some detective work I discovered that many folders and files had been copied to the J: drive that were not appearing in the Organizer catalog and consequently were not being displayed. Some folders had only a portion of their files copied. Fortunately, the files were still visible and cataloged on the C: drive. I did look at my files on the C: drive and there were some that for what ever reason had read only attributes.
The selected file, files, or folders should be copied to the specified destination. At that point they should be added to the catalog, then the files should be deleted from their original location and the catalog updated accordingly. If an original file is read only then it can't be deleted but the attempt to delete it should be reported as an inability to delete with no consequences imposed on the files that have been placed in their new location. The "problem" should not be promoted to the status of a serious or fatal error that causes only partial completion of the overall operation.

Photoshop :: CS6 Could Not Save (filename) Because File Is Locked?
Feb 6, 2013For many years I have been edit photo montages in Premiere Pro. When I would find a photo that needs retouching so I would open Photoshop, retouch the pic, save it, and the new image would magically appear on the PPro timeline. But in my CS6 suite, I get the error message "Could not save "filename" because file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file".
And this only happens when PPro is still open, regardless of where the CTI is on the timeline, or which pic on the timeline is selected. I never had this problem with any other versions of PPro and Photoshop. I don't want to shut down PPro everytime I need to retouch a pic.
Photoshop Elements :: Import Different Photos With Same Filename?
May 7, 2013I just installed Photoshop Elements 11 and want to use the PSE 11 Organizer to manage my photos. I currently have about 45,000 photos on my harddrive organized in folders. The filenames of the photos in these folders are whatever the default naming convention is for my camera - IMG_00001.jpg etc. So you can imagine that the possibility of having the same filename for different photos is quite high.
My problem is that when I want to import all these photos into PSE 11 I get an error saying there are duplicate photos and the duplicates are not being imported. I have a lot of these conflicts and I can't seem to find any option to allow the files to be imported. Are there any workarounds to this issue that don't involve manually renaming all the conflicting files? What are my options here?

Dec 10, 2012After I download my photos & I have them in a file folder in the organizer, how do I sequence & sort the photos by the filename & not the date/time? I try renaming some of them so that the file name is in an alphanumeric order between some other photos & hope that it moves them in the organizer, but it doesn't. No matter what I do, the photos remain in the date-time sequence. I was able to move the files very easily in Ver 8, but it doesn't work the same in Ver 11.

Photoshop :: Couldn't Save File Name Because Filename Was Not Valid
Jun 17, 2012I have recently purchased a new desktop under WIN 7 as well as Adobe Creative Suite CS6.My first internal hard disk is 2 TB, the second one installed is from my old PC, 250 GB.
I am getting this error when trying to save a file over an existing file using the “Save” command.The message is wrong, because the filename IS valid. This error is persistent.This error does not occur when doing the same action on my second internal hard disk.This error happens on files larger than about 1MB in weight.
What happens is that the original file over which I try to do the ”Save” command gets corrupted and lost.If I don't use the “Save as” command to save my work under a different name, my work is lost.The same problem occurs with both PS CS6 versions, 64 Bit and 32 Bit.
Photoshop Elements :: Cannot Add Desired Folder To Watch Folder Service
Aug 17, 2013I just finished importing my photos to Elements, and was going to add the folder I keep them in to my watched folders, to keep them up to date. Since everything imported just fine, I was surprised to find that I got the following error when trying to add the folder:
The Watch Folder service returned an error: Access is denied.
I looked around the site using search and Google, and found a few other occurences of this error, but they all only show answers that apply to network shares. The folder I am trying to watch is not a network drive that I have to use a \serverfolder format to access, as the folder is located on my hard drive under C:UsersusernameGoogle DrivePictures.

Feb 26, 2014Installed Elements 12, converted catalog but now my sub folders are shown as main folders in Organizer folder view. How can I get back my original folder/sub folder system? When I look at Windows folders my system is as it was so the two don't match any more. On searching further came across more info on Community-powered support for Photoshop Family and it seems Adobe have removed the option of sub folders.
