Photoshop Elements :: Get E11 To Work With 16bits Photos?
Aug 8, 2013In the expert mode of Photoshop Elements 11, I can only work with 8 bits photos. How can I get Elements 11 to work with 16 bits photos?

Dec 3, 2008Did someone already know about 16 bits/channel multilayer psd file parsing is different to that of 8 bits/channel multilayer psd file?
as far as I try, it seems 8 bits/channel model, image data is saved in RLE model, but it is quite different in 16 bits/channel,
we could easily find out once we load those two file into memory (with same context, only model changed).
Anyone who know which algorithm may 16 bits/channel multilayer psd taken for saving the layer image data?

Jan 30, 2013following the Action Workflow pt 1 tutorial with my own footage.
1] I have a background track and green screen track above it. I apply timeline axis effect Master Keyer and create an awesome key.
2] I select both layers and create CFX. My awesome Master Keyer key is now changed back to a a luma key or something.
3] I go into Action, select media and click on the K in the media list. In the lower left of the screen the following message flashes quickly (I have to click many times to read it. It doesn't stay on long)
"16bits FP not supported"
4] I note that both my background layer and my foreground layer say the following [12->16f) I think that means 12 bit is being converted to 16bit. Not sure why. I never asked it to do that. So I click on the clip in the CFX schematic. I see RGB LUT is Active I change both to 10 bit. Same result. I try 12 bit. Same. If I change these setting in RGB LUT I am not permitted to leave the CFX editor, so I change back. I make sure resize is on.
Anyway, the tutorial is cool because the keyed footage just shows up right immediately upon entering CFX. I'm not so lucky.
How do I get green screen footage into Action? Bottom Layer is 1080, top greenscreen is RED 4k. Resize is on for RED footage. Changing bit depth makes things weird and doesn't provide a result.
If I hit reset in the Action node Media panel the K disappears. I can now double click on the empty space and up pops that godsend Modular keyer.
Photoshop Elements :: Add People Recognizes Faces In Individual Photos But Not Groups Of Photos
Jan 12, 2014"Add people" feature has never worked in Elements 11. How do I fix this? It recognizes faces in individual photos, but not in groups of photos.

Mar 19, 2013When opening my jpeg photos in Photoshop elements 9, once saved elements seems put the image in a format that my Apple Mac isn't compatible with. So when I then try and upload the images to Facebook or other software in a bulk upload the images are highlighted and I therefore can't select them and upload.

Mar 21, 2013New user to PSE11. Is it recommended that ALL photos be in albums or is the idea that photos in albums are a subset of the photos in folders? With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.

When I attempt to sync photos in iTunes (to synch with my iPhone), Photoshop Elements appears in the drop down and when I select it, it finds all the "albums" in the catalog. However, when I select an album to sync, iTunes indicates 0 photos are available in the album.
I'm running photoshop elements 11, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 8 Pro.
if I try to sync "all photos and albums" it still reports that there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've tried to make new albums, which iTunes "sees" the names, but there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've also tried to sync with a folder (file system) which works just fine.

Mar 18, 2013I can not paste photos from my photos file. If I start a blank file I can paste anything photos want from the web in as many layers as I want. If I try to paste a photo from my own photos file it becomes the back ground by itself. I don't know how to stop this. Using photoshop elements 11.

I create a new layer by dragging the background image down to the icon in the bottom left hand corner.Then select the healing brush tool, set it to replace, proximity match, opacity to 30%, hardness to 100%, flow to 100% and have aligned ticked.
Because of the disability I used a track ball mouse with a sticky mouse button. So I start to paint with the healing brush, have it clicked down but nothing really happens? The spot healing tool works o.k.ish as does the clone stamp.
I"m running CS4 Extended on a Mac......
GIMP :: Work On All Photos In A Folder One By One?
May 10, 2012As a photograher, I have hundredsot thousands of photos in a folder after a shooting. I would like to work with Gimp on all of the photos individually, one after the other.
When I opened the first one in the folder and saved the result I would like to close the first file and go to the second one and work on it. And after the next one and the next one...
How may I go easily -with a key shorcut, for example- go to the NEXT photo within the folder?
There are other programs, like fotoxx or DigiKam able to do this, however, I like better to work with Gimp... if possible.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and Gimp 2.6.

Jun 13, 2011I just downloaded PSP 13...I can't put a few photos on the work space....I only see one photo at a time and when I move a photo I see the checkered area and not the other photos...at the top left I see the photo names and i can click on them and the photo appears but only one at a time...around each photo I always had an area where I could see the X at the top right , click on it and the photo would leave...but now it's hard to see where the X is...

I am slowly learning some of the photo editing features but would like imput on the best workflow for "fixing" digital photos. I am aware that all digital photos need some sharpening and some noise removal. My question is this -- should the sharpening and noise removal be after other adjustments (brightness, clarify etc.) or should those come first? I should mention that I have been shooting all pictures in RAW.

Jun 26, 2013Using MacPro (5 years old), OS Lion, full RAM, 4 HD's with 2 TB+ drives, plenty ofroom left over in all.
ALL 44k images located in one LR3 catalog (recent upgrade to LR5 hoping for remedy 2 days ago) show 'read-only' notice, so after doing any kind of work on them in develop, etc. I select all (in specific folder, not 44k photos!) then save it, a notice comes up and says these are 'read-only' files. Thus not able to save any work that is apparent in LR. BUT, when exported as JPG all changes are saved.
I have opened various folders, NOT via LR, but via Finder (OS Lion) and opened one by one using PS 4 and they open fine in RAW converter window. Save as PSD, all files look fine. Same for JPG's.
The issue is LR, or hard drive or something along the chain where the photos, when viewed in LR, say they are 'read-only'.
Via Finder window I have opened various files (denoting read-only notice) and right-clicked to 'get info' on that specific photo. ALL files are 'read and write', there are NO files that are denoted read-only when getting the info. I checked 50+ photos in 25 different folder locations.
Laptop test:
I started a new LR catalog in LR5, with ZERO photos and imported a few folders, with images that had 'read-only' notice to make sure I tested the same photos that had given me the read-only notice.
Did a test on photos with 'read-only' files on a laptop (OS Mountain Lion), pulled files from HD where ALL 44k photos are located. Copied to thumb drive, imported with LR5, copied to desktop in test folder, all photos came in fine, slected all, did global edit to all images, saved all, all images were saved with NO 'read-only' notice. This is true for a series of folders.
So my test, if it proves anything, is that either LR is messed-up or the HD is messed-up on MacPro tower or something is telling LR to show the 'read-only' notice to pop up.
Back-ups:
Back-ups were done from HD where all 44K photos reside, to 2 (two) other drives, within MacPro tower. So ALL 44k photos are essentially the same. This was a drag-n-drop not using Super Duper or similar byte-verification software.
why ALL 44k images say 'read-only', when viewed in LR5 in MacPro tower but NOT in laptop? HD is 5 years old...could this be the weak link?
Also, considering to wipe the complete system drive (not HD where photos reside) and re-load everything from scratch to begin anew. My concern is will this work and then, will wiping all drives and re-loading all images, then re-loading LR5 catalog will solve this. I am resigned to a week of doing this if it works as right now, I am at a stand still and cannot go forward or backward.

Nov 12, 2012When I import pictures from my SD Card I usually leave copies on the card for a while so I have them as backup, and to also be able to see recent pics on my camera. However each time I go to import pictures from that card within LR, it defaults to selecting all pics on my SD card even though I have the "New Photos" filter selected at the top of the import box. It always puts all my photos in the "New Photos" section, so I have to deselect all the photos that I have already imported into my catalogue so I don't get duplicates. How do I get LR to only import pics that haven't been imported bfore?
I am aware of the "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" option, but that is not the samea as what I am looking for. It only deselects photos that still exist in my catalogue. Any photos that I have deleted from my catalogue remain selected in the import box as it doesn't see any duplicates.
what I'm missing to have LR only select photos that haven't been previously imported from that card?
Lightroom :: Slider Controls In LR4 For Process 2010 Photos Do Not Work Properly
Mar 16, 2012In upgrading to LR4 I wish to keep my process 2010 photos as process 2010. There is no need to redo them because the update pretty much forces you to start again with most processed photos.
My problem is that I now find that LR4 greys out the detail and color sliders for Luminance and color noise reductionas if they are process 2003 photos. That is, I do not have access to the detail and color for the noise reduction section.
I can only assume this is a bug or that Adobe have changed the Noise reduction engine.
Lightroom :: Auto White Balance Didn't Work - Photos Turned Out Very Purple / Pink All Over
Jul 13, 2013I shot an event for a couple (a reception) and I didn't have my gray card so I set my Canon 5D mkII on auto white balance (shooting with a Canon 24-70 2.8 and a Sigma 85 1.4). As you'll see from the two example photos - the shots taken in the venue lobby looked fine, but the shots from inside the event itself were amazingly saturated. The room had a ton of very bright uplighting in purple and pink - the shots looked fine in the viewfinder, but once I brought them into LR4, there was a nearly complete purple/pink cast over everything. Setting the white balance in LR to auto, tungsten, flourescent - nothing worked. Adjusting the temp sliders - only slightly better. Reducing vibrance and saturation useful a little more, but I'm really having a hard time finding a fix!

It says that I need to go to the adobe site and paste in the code. Jan 14, 2013I am currently trialling PSE 11. I would prefer to keep iPhoto as my organiser while using PSE 11 as my editor. However, it appears that I have to create a separate PSE library meaning that the edits made in PSE will not be reflected in the iPhoto library.
Other than manually importing and exporting photos between the libraries is there a way round this?
