Photoshop Elements :: Windows 7 Keeps Turning Off In E11
Jan 20, 2013
Everytime I use Photoshop Elements 11 to edit or select part of a picture my computer will freeze for 5 seconds and shut down and restart. It will give me a message windows did not shut down properly.
After the restart I will lose about 1.5gb on my hard drive.I am using windows 7 and need to know if installed the product incorrectly.
I have many JPGs on a Macbook Pro that work find with PSElements 6. When I try to transfer them to my new Windows 8 computer with recenly purchased PSElements 11 the program rejects them. How do I transfer them?
I have PhotoShop Elements 6 installed. I have never felt the need to 'upgrade' so still on 6.. I have installed a patch to Windows as recommended by regular Windows 'security scan' in the past few days. I do not want to rewind to before the patch as, presumably, it is required. It was working fine last week opening as required. Now it seems to be about to open when clicked but then does not. Nothing in Task Manager to show it might be running in the background. I've tried running PSE as administrator, Changing compatibility to other Windows.
Since a few weeks all of a sudden some pop-up windows are not displayed. For instance after converting an image to B&W, the action is done, but the options to select the presets and finetune the conversion is not displayed. All other menu's are greyed out, so apparently the program is assuming that it is waiting for input from my side.
This applies to more similar situations like applying curves...
How this can happen? The window is not behind the images or hidden...
I installed PSE11 on Windows 8 machine and it ran fine once. Now it launches and I see it starting then dissapears. I think it is running in backround as i see it in task manager. I ran the compatability trouble shooter and used the recommended settings but problem persists. Also tried running as adminestrator and still same problem. The auto uploader runs fine as well but then I cant see organizer. I had the same issues with PSE10 but that ran fine on this same machine for a month. My problems started when i left PSE10 running and let the computer sleep, hybernate and eventually shut down. Ever since then PSE 10 and now PSE 11 wont run or runs in backround and I cant see them. I have unistalled and re-installed bioth to no avail. Do I need to do a PC recovery?
I have approx 4000 tagged and organised photos on a windows version of Elements 7 and wish to transfer everything to the latest version of Elements on a new iMac. How do I best do this without losing any organisation of the photos and videos that I have already done?
I recently updated my Notebook from Vista to Windows 8. Now I do have to install al programms again, but concerning PSE 6, there is a catastrophically failure with the licencing subsystem AMT. How I can use this programme again under Windows 8?
I upgraded from Vista to Windows 8. I had Elements 7 where I had to install the 8bi plug in to be able to read and process RAW files from Nikon. When I re-installed Elements 7, and tried the same thing it does not work and it keeps telling me that there is an error opening this file. I can open jpg files fine. However I take 95% of my photographs in RAW and would like to be able to process them in Elements again.
PSE10 editor won't open. I was working in editor, mouse pointer went away, computer froze. After turning off and starting again everything seems to be fine except editor won't open.
I just purchased a new HP Envy Laptop with Windows 8 and installed both Lightroom 3 and Photoshop Elements 9. Lightroom is working perfectly. I cannot get beyond the welcome screen on Elements. PSE 9 will not load when I try to "Edit In" from LR3. (Note; Organizer will open, just not Editor)
I'm no longer able to select "Float in Windows" or Float All in Windows". These items don't activate; they remain dark. I can see only one image at a time now. How to get it back?
I am running Windows 7 and cannot open newly purchased Elements 12. I have tried most of the .exe file fixes so I am not sure if that is the issue or not.
After I upgraded to Windows 8.1, PSE 11 no longer finds my IOGEAR GFR209 card reader with an SDHC card in it when I try to import pictures - with Windows 8 I had no problems. I get the message "Device Not Found" in Photo Downloader when I go: Organizer > File > Get Photos and Videos > From Camera or Card Reader. I tried doing a "Refresh List" but it made no difference.
I can though, see the reader, SDHC card and all its image files in Windows File Explorer, so my PC is recognizing the device. I also tried re-insalling PSE 11 and then updating it by going Help > Updates ... but it made no difference.
I was able to successfully download and install the trial version of PS Elements 11 on 64 bit Windows 7. However, trying to open the program doesn't result in any error, it just won't launch. Even after rebooting I am not able to launch the program. My PS Elements 8 is still working fine.
I am using Elements 10 on my new Windows 8 computer. When I tried to add music to the slide show I got the message "Required compressor/decompressor (codec) not available to play the selected music on your system". The music that I selected plays fine useing the computers music player. Adding music has allways worked fine on my old Windows vista computer!! What can I do?
Using the "Folder Location" view in PSE 10, I have successfully moved all but one of my photo folders from a problematic user account into a new user account on my PC. One stubborn folder will not be moved, with PSE 10 incorrectly citing that "No files from this folder have imported into Elements Organizer."
I restarted PSE 10 multiple times, repeated the process, and even followed the instructions to "Right click on the folder and select 'Import to Organizer.'" The latter action, of course, imported nothing because the 3,000+ files in that file already exist in the Organizer.
As an experiment, I successfully used Windows Explorer to move the folder (don't worry, I undid the move before PSE 10 had a chance to disconnect the files from the Organizer) to the new user account. No problems with that temporary move, but I'm not interested in waiting for PSE 10 try to reconnect all 3,000+ files if I made that my permanent solution.
