View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recorded an action that will automatically place a logo in the upper left corner of every image. There are 4 steps after pasting the logo onto the image (and before saving it):
1. Align current layer (using: top edges)
2. Align current layer (using: left edges)
3. Set selection (to: none)
4. Move current layer (to: 0.139 inches, 0.139 inches)
There are no errors when I use File > Automate > Batch on a large number of pictures. However, the problem I'm encountering is that it has recorded the "move current layer" measurements in inches. Since each picture is a different size, it's moving the logo much farther on some pictures than on others.
Is there a way to edit the actions dialog to use pixels when I'm recording an action? Or another alternative way to get it to record the location of the logo so that it's consistent no matter what the size of the picture?
How do I make it so a new document in Photoshop uses Inches as its units instead of pixels? I have it set to inches in the preferences -> units & rulers but every time I make a new document it defaults to pixels for the dimensions. way to make that default to inches?

I'm on the latest verion of Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7, and for some reason, when I go to create a shape, everything is in inches instead of pixels. It won't let me just type in pixels, it just reverts back to inches and won't change the shape. I am pulling my hair out trying to find the setting or preference. where I can change the settings so that things are always in pixels and not inches?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I was using an older Photoshop version ...I could select "print with preview" and there I could adjust the size and proportion of the image to the paper size - I would see the paper in a preview box and could adjust the image by sliding the box at the corner points and size the image any way I wanted ... and could see the actual preview of how the image could fit on the paper .... in Elements 11 - even if I do a PDF and print in Preview- there's no way I can see to do that ... I only see options for set sizes- even under the custom sizing menu ... I'm using exactly the same printer that I used with Photoshop - so I'm assuming this is a limitation with Elements ... I don't even see the option in Elements printing to change the image percentage as I've been used to with any other page setup before ....
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I open Xara I have to change the default settings under "Utilities", "Options", "Units" from inches to pixels. There are other default settings I'd like to change as well, but my question is how do I change those settings to default so that when I open Xara, I don't have to go reset them? This is a PITA! I have searched through the help files and don't see any info on changing the standard default settings!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a picture that is approximate 5 inches, by 10 inches. I want to blow the picture up to approx. 19x7 inches. But my question is, after I blow it up, and place it on a new image template, how will I know the "final" product will be proportioned correctly (with exact correct proportions as original pic) when I print it out.
Does GIMP "automatically" proportion the image correctly, or is there some mathematical equation/something to figure out the correct equation.
I have a client who has a set of .ai files they need resized to meet various epub layout specs. Apple and Kindle both are different sizes so I need to know the best way to resize an .ai file 11.25 x 5.65 inches into a smaller dimension in pixels while retaining the layers.

When I select a layer and look at the info panel, I see that the layer height and width is shown apparently by default in percentages. Specifically 100% Height and 100% Width.
Â
I would prefer that the Info panel show height and width in Pixels instead of Percentages. Finally, after seeing the height and width in Pixels I want to change the height by entering the height in pixels. How can I do that?
Â
I don't want to use a "ruler" to do this, I just want to be able to enter the pixels (height and width) that I want the layer to b resized. For example when selecting a rectangle that is currently 100 pixels tall and 50 pixels wide, I want to be able to just change 50 pixels wide by entering (in a field) 25 to make it 25 pixels wide.
Â
In Fireworks I resize by pixels all the time. But can't find a similar method in Photoshop.
I need to be able to re-size images that are large than 1MB in order to put them on our MLS site.
My previous computer had 2 arrow icons on the desktop.
One was for re-sizing horizontal pics and the other for re-sizing vertical pics.
I could simply drag/drop the image file onto these re-sizing icons and they would be re-sized.
The smaller file size thumbnail would appear on the desktop.
How can I get these re-sizing tools on my new computer's desktop?
I am using CS6.
How do you resize images to a specific size in inches in illustrator?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOut of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am completely new to gimp I have an image that is 8in x 6in. It was previously edited in Photoshop on another computer thats how I know the actual size. When I load it into gimp, the image size is in real life the same, I can take a ruler to the screen and it measures 8in x 6in at 100% zoom. However, according to gimps rulers, the image is over 11in x 7in. So I measured what is one inch on gimps ruler and it is actually 3/8in in real life. When I create a grid to overlay the image, through Filters-Render-Patterns-Grid and I make the settings to be 1in x 1in, it too shows up based on gimps ruler measurements. I have the ruler set up in inches but a gimp inch is not a real life inch, and this shows up when I scale the image to 8in x 6in it actually makes the image 5 1/2in x 3 3/4in in real life when printed out. How can I get gimp to display a real life inch and how can I get my images to print out based on real life inches.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a photo in PE Organizer/Editor which according to the document size it is 6.6667 inches x 8.917 inches. I know to select image from the menu but not sure whether to select image size or canvas size?
I select Print, choose the print settings, print size 4 x 6 inches, image only - don't want a border, then this message appears: the following images will be rendered at less than 220 dpi at the requested size.
This can't be done in PE and I have to use crop to resize. I surprised that PE cannot resize to inches.
I searched further and found a video on Youtube that demonstrated that PE will resize to inches. The steps in the video were:
1. Select resize, image.
2. Document size:
Enter 6 for width, 4 for height and 300 for resolution (for printing)
Check Scale Styles, Constrains proportions, Resample image, Bicubic
3. The pixel dimensions automatically changed to 1800 width and 1200 for height.
Â
In the video the above steps worked. In my PE, I followed the same steps but the Document size for width changed to 2.99 after I had entered 6 and the Pixel size for width changed to 897.
Â
First, PE change resize to inches but for some reason my PE 11 changes the width after entering 6.
I've about three hundred images that I want re-sized (they're currently around 3000 pixels wide).
Is there a way to re-size them all at the click of a button? Can I for instance record an action, and then apply it to all the images at once?
I take photos of jewelry and work with them in Photoshop 6.0. I'm trying to take photo of very small items in closeup mode. If I print them out at normal size, they come out very clear but if I resize them so that I may fit many shots on a 8.5 X 11 inch page, the become very blurry. How do I resize closeup shots in photoshop so that they come out clear at smaller sizes?

reguarding digital photographs. I have been working in Photoshop for 10 years, but I just started serious digital photography. I purchased the Canon Eos Rebel XT 8mp camera. My question is what is the best way to resize images? The camera produces 3456 x 2304 pixel images. Which comes out to 48 x 32 inches at 72 dpi. I have tried the Bicubic Smoother and Sharper settings. For example I am designing a magazine cover with one of these images, obvisouly it needs to be a high res image for printing. What is the best way to size down that image? On the flip side, I want to print one of those images at 24x36 for a poster design, alsohigh res printing. What is the best way to size that as well? I am just looking for a workflow and getting the most out of this great camera.
