May 5, 2013I was experimenting with applying filters to text. I managed to make the background black and the text converted to a white outline. I believe I did it using artistic/watercolor. I made a series of five images using this process and now I can't recreate the effect. I definitely did not use strokes or any of the other common ways of creating outline text: It was really quite accidental and done entirely with filters.

Mar 22, 2013I'm working on headers and footers for a client to use in MS Word. The headers and footers are mostly text-based, and look bad in any rasterized image format, so I think the best option is to export to EMF.
Even though I have all of the fonts I'm using installed on Word, it's still treating some of them strangely. So I'm trying to convert the text to vector images with the Create Outlines command. But when I export the image to EMF, I end up with distorted text. It distorts the logo image portion too, but it's less noticeable than the text.
I'm using CS5 on an iMac running OS 10.6.8.

Oct 22, 2013When i open a PDF in acrobat X Pro, edit object, it open in Illustrator, its coming normal with all editable text, after making the changes saved the file. Again if I open same pdf in Illustrator (from as edit object in Acrobat X Pro) some text fields are becoming outline (The document contains PDF objects that have been reinterpreted: To preserve appearance, some text has been outlined.

Aug 30, 2013Sometimes I have to subtract some outlined text from a larger shape. Usually I just select the shape, and the text group, and execute a compound path. Works fine.
Occasionally, this method is not so convenient If I need to knock out additional outlined text into an object that has already been compounded with some other elements. For this, I use the Shape Tool, minus-ing out the additional text,
What I've noticed is that as I do this, the process gets slower and slower as each path is minus'd out with the Shape Tool. Eventually it can take as long a minute or more to remove more areas. Then I discovered something. I uncompounded the final result to discover that the Shape Tool creates hundreds and hundreds of duplicate paths. And very specific duplicates at that. Here is what I discovered:
I can only draw the conclusion that there is something seriously wrong with this tool. Surely all those extra path copies hidden within the resulting compound path can't be right.

Illustrator :: Outlined Text Is Changing When Using Pathfinder Or Resizing
Sep 30, 2013So occasionally, when working on customers files, outlined text becomes warped when resizing or using Pathfinder. For instance, I have "III" written and outlined, but for some reason if I resize this, the middle line become thicker than the other lines. Other text changes as well making it very hard to make the necessary changes to my artwork without ruining the text.

Jul 16, 2012I am currently trying to make a bracelet with text engraved in the outside of it with autocad, and my current problem is that I have to make the text 3D before I can subtract it from the bracelet. I am using autocad for mac, which means I dont have the express tools, most notably textexp. I am fairly sure that, without other programs, making 3d text with autocad for mac is impossible. I have tried making text in adobe illustrator, outlining it, and exporting it to autocad, but when I explode it (with the default explode command) and extrude the text, it looks like this:
As you can see, very few of the letters get properly extruded, and some arent even effected at all. I've tested other fonts, and they all have the same problem, albeit with some differences in exactly which letters are changed. Except papyrus, in which none of the text gets extrudedhow to make outlined text from illustrator extrude properly, be my guest! The same goes if you have a different way to make 3D text.

Jun 24, 2013I placed text on a shape and outlined it. As soon as I create a compound path, the result appears lighter than the originally outlined text (on screen and printed), although the paths seem to be identical when I overlay them. Same happens when I divide the paths.

Dec 19, 2012Don't know much about photo shopping or manipulating images, but hope to learn more, since I already have one Etsy shop (selling beauty products) and am planning on opening another (selling miniatures).
For my first Etsy shop I used a Free Etsy Banner provided by a blogger I follow. I did not include text or my shop name in my Banner.
I have downloaded another banner from this same blogger, this one has the option to include text (your shop name) and I would like to include my shop name for the miniatures Etsy shop I plan to open within about six month.
I asked her how to enter text and she said to just open it in Picture, or whichever photo shop type program I use. I have a Mac, am fairly broke, Gimp was recommended to me by another small business owner.
I managed to figure out how to enter text, use the text editor, and place it in the blank field. The only problem is I can't see the text, despite playing around with the colour of the text.
Illustrator :: Inserting Text Into A Box Layer
Jan 13, 2014I am inserting text onto a box layer. The box is rotated. When I rotate the text to fit into the box, the letters go slightly out of line and rotate seperately. I tried to save the text as a jpeg file and then rotate the object, but the same thing happened. The letters are no longer lined up.

Sep 2, 2011I have been able to do a text wrap which works great. However, I need to be able to move the boxes along with the paragraph if, say, I change the beginning and causing the entire thing to shift.
So far when I enter anything and the boxes are just inserted with text wrap the words move together but leave the boxes where they are. I can move the boxes along after words by just pushing the down arrow but that means I have to go through and move each one which is time consuming and frustrating.
Is there anyway to perhaps insert the box directly into the paragraph so that it is all one thing?
Or is there another way to make this work?

One item I'd love to have is the pg. number automated. In the current title block it's just text not an attribute. Is there a way I can take only a part of the file name and insert it as a field?
For example, the file name is DW_12321_12.dwg the last part of the name is the sheet number. Can I exclude everything but the 12 and insert just that into the field?

AutoCad :: Inserting Text Attribute In Title Block
Nov 13, 2013starting a new job at work so setting up the job folder etc. grabbed the title block and the text attribute insert from the library.....
so here is when the issue started.....so title block and text attribute are both saved in model space, both have all the same settings, this also applies to the template we have here all match.
so i xref in my title page at 1:1 which comes in normal, then i insert my attribute block in at 1:1 but it comes in at some super size thing, normal 3.5 text size is now 1000......
have fiddled with everything gone back to the library set etc but got no idea.
the interesting bit is if i open the title block and insert the attribute block in, it comes in perfect......
so in saying that i am assuming it is the work template..... but none of this has changed for over a month and have created drawings since then........maybe a random setting somewhere has changed but again haven't done anything different to normal no new radical changes....
i have attached a copy of the title block and the text attribute.
