View 3 RepliesI'm trying to repurpose some artwork and am running into an issue. In the image below, I simply want to delete the bottom right corner of the blue box so that the orange background is visible along the right edge of the curved shape and the blue box is visible along the left edge of the curved shape. But I cannot figure out how to do this. I've tried all the Pathfinder choices and none work. How can I do this? CS6, Windows 7.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a photograph as my background layer, and then a shape layer on top of that. I want to put a font layer on top of the shape, select the font, and then delete the selection on the shape layer, so whenever I hide the font, the photograph shows through the shape, but every time I do it, no matter the tolerance, the font that is in the shape looks pixelated. I've reset all of my settings, but I'm not sure what to do.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am learning to make an envelope and the tut calls for me to make little sewed rectangles around the edges which are to be colored red and blue every other rectangle.
Draw the Rectangle > Ctrl + T > Right click > Skew > and then
Ctrl + Alt + T to Duplicate > press right arrow key to move and repeat until the end of the envelope > and then
Duplicate Layer > change color from blue to red
Here is where I am lost:
I am suppose to select every other rectangle and delete them in order for the rectangles to be blue, red, blue red . How to go about doing this and I have been unable to find a solution in faq's or other posts within the forum(s). I'm not even certain how to ask the question so, that may be part of my quest denied
In Inkscape I would just ungroup them so that I could manipulate/delete them as individual shapes and then (if needed) use the rubber band to recollect them and click a regroup button. I cannot seem to find anything similar to this in PS.
how to use the marquee tool to delete the bottom 2/3rds of a rounded rectangle.
Here's what I am doing:
Clicking on the rounded rectangle and drawing it to the size I want
selecting the marquee tool and selecting the area of the rounded rectangle I want to delete.
After I selected the area with the marquee tool, I press delete and instead of the area I selected being deleted, the whole layer is deleted instead.
any way to delete more than a single shape at a time from a shape collection file, other like step by step with the option key? I have one collection with about 400 shapes and would like to save it to some "groups", like people, arrows, devices..
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn PS i can Magic wand selection shape from one layer, drop to sub layer and copy that selected shape from that sub layer. How do I do this in illistrator, and moreover, from multiple layer at the same time.
For instance, in PS = Import an image of gold - select a text phrse with wand - drop to gold - copy paste = gold text.
In Elements 11 each time I copy a shape the pasted copy appears in a new layer. I would like to have the pasted copy stay in the same layer as the original shape. How do?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop CS6, when you have a shape layer with a layer mask, and the two are not linked together, and the layer mask is selected, you should be able to scale the layer mask independently of the shape. What actually happens is the shape gets scaled and the layer mask stays untouched. In fact, even if you option-click on the layer mask to show the mask by itself, and then try to scale it, you still end up scaling the shape instead of the mask. Even if you go as far as to make a pixel selection of the layer mask and attempt to scale the pixels, the shape still gets scaled and the layer mask still stays put! Unbelievable!
This works correctly in CS4, but not in CS6 (don't know about CS5).
Let's say I have downloaded 500 shots to PSE 12. I would like to go through them quickly and eliminate the ones I definitely do not want. How can I quickly tag them or whatever and then with one touch on the delete button delete them all at once?

The gif I am working with is a square shape with a green background and on that is a white circle shape with lettering going around it and a small pic inside the circle shape. I want to only use the white circle shape with the text going around it and the pic inside and discard the green square background appearing outside the ring.

I can't figure out how I can use a text or shape layer as a mask for the layer below. See the example attached and you will know what I mean. (I created the example with simply cutting out the text outline from the white box).
I need the text to be a mask and I need it to be editable as text. Don't know if this is possible, experimented with clipping masks but I cant make it work.
When I create a shape in Photoshop CS6, it brings up a nice panel of options - allowing me to change radius, stroke style, colour etc. However, once this shape has been placed in the Photoshop document, I am not able to edit it, without creating a new shape.
I cannot change any of the options. Sure, I can select it and change the size - but how would I change the shape stroke colour and style, as well as the radius of the curves? Is there an option or panel which I need to activate to get back to this menu for the current shape?
Here the shape options are visibleHowever, once I click off the shape - they dissapear and I can no longer get them back.
How would I get the shape options back for this shape, without creating a new layer and shape? As with the way it is now, I have to get things like the stroke colour and radius right the first time - and I like to experiment with my options.

How can I select a shape on a layer in PSD in the layers palette?
In my past version of PSD, I was able to simply click on the Layer and hold either select or control to have marching ants go around my image - but with CS2 I am not able to do that.
this is my problem:
Pic 1. I have an image I want to use as a background, however the image is not complete. I need a part of pic 2 to fullfill it.
Pic 2. The colors around the object doesn't match the colors of Pic 1.
Normally it would be best to cut the object out. However in this case it wouldn't look nice (the object is mixed out (in color) with the rest of the image). If I cut out something the object won't look "proper".
My question:
How can I blend pic 2 on pic 1, using the original object from pic 2 (as it is), and at the same time blend the colors around it, so that it matches that of pic 1 / or simply remove it somehow?
Everyone at the office where I work is having the same problem with AutoCAD 2014:
1. When creating a new layer state, and selecting all layers and clicking "remove from layer state" and then "okay", upon going back into the layer state, about 80% of the layers have returned and you have to select all and delete again and hit okay, and then go back in and do it again, about 7 or 8 times total before the layer state is cleared out and ready for you to add back just the desired layers. Even if you don't create a blank slate layer state to begin with, whatever layers you delete, once you hit okay and go back into the layer state, most of the ones you just deleted are back.
2. Even more of a problem is that sometimes all the already created layer states will suddenly reassimilate ALL layers in the drawing, and the above process has to be done to all existing layer states.
This takes an enormous amount of time to correct for multiple layer states, which we typically have in a drawing.
I've used Xara for a while now, but I've never figured out how to remove or delete a curve edit handle. I mainly want to get rid of ones that are created spontaneously when I add/delete other points on a shape. Attached is an example where the curved cusp of the arrow came, seemingly, from nowhere. All I want to do is restore the angular property. I've tried moving the handle to be on top of the point indicator, but that's an imprecise action ... that often leads to the shape spinning wildly.

How can I correctly delete a part of my project?
I recently had to buy a new computer and re-install CorelDraw X5. I've been using the software for about 3 years now to run a laser engraver, so I'm not new to dealing with vectors. For some reason though when I draw something like a square, click "convert to curves", then right click the segment I was to delete, the delete option is grayed out and the only thing I can do is add a node. I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong or if it's a setting somewhere they didn't get checked off when I installed the software.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI know that I can use a clipping mask, but I prefer not to have the extra shape of a clipping mask. I've tried all of the Pathfinder commands and those don't work. The Shape Builder tool is tedious for this. An example is the circle with lines extending past the circle in the illustration below. Is there an easy way to delete just the portions of the lines that extend past the circle and leave those inside the circle?

When only one layer is left, I can't delete it! There is a icon or symbol to the upper left of the project, which won't go away.
Is this a path? layer? I accidentally pressed "OK" on some screens that I didnt get to read ::slaps forehead::

I just started using Xara and have been doing some sketches in Xara Photo & Graphics 7.0 Once I am done my sketch I often want to delete a line (inner line I used to draw but now needs to be deleted to make sketch look right). Is there a way to erase part of a line. If I try to highlight and delete the line I lose the whole thing. I just want to delete part of a line (in the center of the line not at the end of it). So far I have been importing into photoshop and erasing my lines with the eraser tool but it takes so much time!

Can you delete part of a fillet feature? While still keeping part of it & adding to it.
I have a fillet feature with 2 fillets to a part. One is in the wrong place. The Feature Fillett1 if you edit it, you will see what I mean.
Keep the middle one. Both fillets are 0.25" / Replace the bottom fillet to the top corner.
I would like to keep the Feature in the order it is in, if possible.

If I want to make artwork for a clock by drawing a black circle and then putting 12 white lines on it for each hour, how do I then cut out the parts of the circle where the white lines are so that if I put it on a blue background, all I see is a black circle with 12 sections missing where the white lines used to be?
