Jun 6, 2012I have Photoshop Elements 9 installed on my computer (MacBook Pro running Lion). However, I had not used it for a couple of months because I was using the CS6 beta, which finally expired. When I tried to open PSE9, the splash screen loads fine and finishes loading everything, but when it disappears I get a dialog of "Cannot open Photoshop Elements because of a program error."
This is while running on my main admin account. It opens normally on another admin account which I do not use often, except for some text encoding issues which were not present before.

But when I try to run the Organizer, I get the Microsoft Visuall C++ Runtime Library dialog that specifies a Runtime Error! for Program: C:Program Files (x86)... with error code R6025 - pure virtual function call.
My PC is a 64bit Windows 7 Machine with SP1.

Apr 1, 2009I have been re-saving many of my PSD files using CS3 image prosesssor with compatibility mode turned off. They have simply been saved again as PSD files into a different folder - no changes to the original PSD files. This has worked well and reduced file sizes by up to 50% (I had compatibility mode turned on previously).
of the 60 files I have processed, 3 will no longer open , I get a message that says "file will not open due to a program error."
these files have only ever been used in CS3. , they are quite large
from just under 1GB to 1.5GB, however other similar large files have processed successfully. I have re-tried without success.
I still have the original files so no data loss is involved.

I spend many many hours creating it.After I saved and closed it today, I started my backup sync software called "Sync n Go" to save the file on my PC as well and not only on my portable flash drive.After I did so I got an idea and decided to open it again but I wasn't able to. Photoshop shows me a error message that says that Photoshop can't execute this psd because a program failure occured. (Image attached but on german)
My question is, if there's any way to restore this file?

Nov 11, 2013I have been using CS6 for quite sometime with no much issues at all. All the sudden, today, without any changes being made in my computer (iMAC IOS 10.9) the software stopped opening files when I went FILE/OPEN and selecting the file to open (jpg). CS6 opens "finder" and then quickly the finder window disappears (so no time to make any selection,,this is not related to a type of file since...I can never get to even select one..) and the message "Could not complete your request because of a program error". The only option is to click OK and that is it.
I now need to go and open finder and then navigate through to the file and the right click and choose Open with CS6 (anf the file opens)..

When I have to make an important change I save a new version of my work. All the previous versions won't open either.
I still have my Photoshop cs5 installed on my computer. Tried that and it worked. All the files open in cs5 but won't open in cs6.I remember taking some work home where I have cs4 running on the laptop.

Sep 4, 2012I've done all I can to correct this issue including going into the reistry and removing the lines pointing to the old plugins folder. I'm still getting this Runtime error and now all my new plugins CRASH Photoshop CS6 Extended. This is horrible. I just bought Alien's bundle and can't even run it without Photoshop crashing out. NONE of the plugins that are new and built for 64 bit apps is crashing. So I'm stuck until I can get this resolved.
IS there another folder / directory with the paths that I can delete since the registry edit didn't seem to do the trick? I've unchecked the box that points to this directory and yet Photoshop still has it recorded since when I start the program and get to that Preference page shows it, grayed out, but it's still recorded. Why are there two areas for this information to be kept in the first place? Makes for a mess like this very issue.

Jun 11, 2008have the CS3 suite, education version and i'm having problems whit photoshop. All the other programs work fine (flash, fireworks, premiere, etc), but photoshop crashes at startup.
I already disabled plugins, checked permissions, everything i can remember. The problems exists with domain and local (power and normal) users. Photoshop runs with local administrator but not with a domain admin, and i don't have any kind of policie restricting the domain admins.
The error is a "Runtime error" at the end of the loading, right after "Building menus".
