Photoshop :: Disappearing Brush Circles
Oct 30, 2003Somehow the circle that shows how big the brush is has disappeared. All I get now is a crosshair where the mouse is. Is there a setting somewhere that My kids have changed?

Photoshop :: Healing Brush Skips - Leaves A Line Of Brush-sized Circles Instead Of Smooth Line
Nov 18, 2012When I use the healing brush is tends to "skip". It leaves a line of circles like a stamp would instead of a flowing line like it should leave. No matter how slow I move the brush it leaves a circle and then as I continue to draw nothing happens until I reach the edge of the first circle, it then drops another circle and it continues that way as long as I draw with it. The brush tool works fine, leaves a smooth line. The Spot Healing and Patch Tool work fine but the healing brush will not heal in a smooth stroke. It skips along a leaves a tail of circles the size of the brush. I am using a fast computer, i7 processor, 16bg ram and a SSD drive so I do not think speed is an issue. I upgraded from CS4 where the healing brush worked fine on this computer

Jun 25, 2008I thought it was just the comp setup of some of my buddies, but I'm getting the same thing occasionally. It's kinda hard to repeat, but it Is repeatable.
It's simple. just open a decent sized file, mine right now is 5000x5000, select the brush tool and press the bracket key rapidly to change the size of the brush.
It might take a few times for it to actually disappear, but the mouse eventually should disappear anytime it's over the photoshop window. It shows up over tools and the file menu, but that's it. You can still paint, but it's Really hard to do when you can't see where the stroke is going to begin.
If it makes a diff...Photoshop has the file open and is taking 400MB of mem. Doesn't even seem high. Usually when this happens it's on a file with Way more layers and is taking something closer to 2GB of memory.

Jun 13, 2012In watching videos about Photoshop CS6 I notice that the brush (or other cursor) often appears as two concentric circles: the outer circle gives some idea of the extent of the brush effect. How do I activate this double circle brush display in Photoshop CS6. I seem only to see a single circle for the brush display. I am using the "cloud" version with Windows 7.

Dec 31, 2006I just downloaded the CS3 beta, which is awesome, since I'm using a MacBook and CS was slow.
I have noticed something very peculiar and annoying, however: when I use the paintbrush tool, the cursor disappears when I hover the cursor over the canvas. This makes it almost impossible to use my brand new Graphire pad.

Dec 1, 2008I have photoshop CS4 running with NVIDIA graphics cards on both my desktop PC and Laptop running Windows XP Pro 32 bit. When I use any of the brush, erase, etc tools as the brush enlarges it slowly starts to disappear. When the tool is very large it totally disappears. I was given a suggestion earlier in this forum to update the NVIDIA drivers which I did and this fixed the problem until I had to uninstall photoshop and reinstall it. Now I have the problem back again and can't seem to fix it. I tried reinstalling the drivers but this did not help.
With regard to my laptop I am using a newish Hewlett Packard Mobile Workstation model Compaq 5810w. I have tried to update the drivers for the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M card but the NVIDIA websites says that for laptops the drivers are supplied by the manufactuer of the laptop - I have tried HP.

Photoshop :: Circles Inside Circles (or Rings)
Feb 11, 2005I'm trying to make a logo. Circular logo with an inner ring maybe 4 px wide and 15 px inside the rim of the outer circle.
Basically I want a blue circle with a yellow inside ring. What's the best way of doing this? The only thing i can think of is: creating a blue circle marquee, and then another (trying to estimate a new circle size and change the color) that is yellow, and then making another smaller blue circle inside the new one. That's just ugly.
I tried the edit/stroke but that just gave me a stroke around the outer circle; it didn't put a ring inside the circle 15 px down.
Also I tried to contract the original circle by selecting it, then Modify/contract. That's got me a selected ring, inside the circle. Now how in the world do I make that little ring yellow? It just remains selected and I can't seem to find a way to color it.

No matter what 1 single pixel brush i use this will happen... no matter which computer i use cs6 on and different copies of the installation. Anyway have any insight into this? frankly... it's somewhat limiting that i can't use the brush for stroking a shape if i need a pixel line and yet soft curves that a pencil won't get you.

Apr 13, 2013There are a few things I just don't get about brush settings. Sometimes it seems my brushes go all wonky.
When I change the settings for 1 brush... say I add some jitter to a smooth brush - then suddenly the other brushes get the same jitter applied to them.
How can I set the brushes so that each brush has a different setting that doesn't change when I change any other brush settings?
p.s. I also don't get why Adobe has you lock a brush by UNlocking it? Seems to me it should be the other way around?

Dec 19, 2012I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).

May 26, 2006I want to create the circle look going around a video (screen shot from someone elses video below.) I've tried creating scanlines and using the Polar Coordinates filter, but with no luck. All I'm looking to do is duplicate the repeating circles they've created, and then have the middle lines fade out in the center so the video behind it will be clear (I'm doing this effect in Photoshop but I'm probabaly going to use After Effects to incoorperate it into the video,) BUT the video is visable between each of the lines (again, see the screen shot below to understand what I'm talking about.)
