Dec 23, 2005Apparently a transparent gif won't do. Needs to be an .ico file (it's for a windows icon), can you create these in photoshop?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Fresh Install / Desktop Icons Do Nothing
May 1, 2013I just completed a fresh install of PDS on a computer and all seemed to go well but when i pick on any of the desktop icons, the little donut spins for about 1-2 seconds and then...nothing.
Everything was working last week and then AM stopped working but Inventor was okay. I uninstalled and reinstalled only AutoCAD and it didn't work and now neither did Inventor. So i uninstalled all Autodesk stuff and reinstalled all PDS apps and now nothing works.
Paint Shop Pro :: Desktop Shortcut Icon - X4 Does Not Start
Sep 1, 2012Clicking on the desktop icon provided by the install of Pspx4 has the splash image appear briefly then a 'not going to do it' message box followed by Win7 'there is a problem, progam is being closed' message box.Created my own shortcut from the Pspx4 exe and the same thing happened.Using the listing in the Start Menu 'All Programs' will start PspX4.
There is no problem exporting an image from Lightroom 4 to be opened in Pspx4. That happens without fault.I applied 'run as administrator' to the shortcut I created and now that will open the software as expected.
Paint Shop Pro :: X3 Opening On Icons?
Dec 29, 2011I recently purchased this computer. It works great. Want to take it on our RV trips. problem is I installed my Paintshop X3. Went in w/o a hitch. Now if I clickon a desktop icon ,which replaces a stock folder,The X3 will open up. Also if I open any of my picture folders it will do the same thing. I do not have this problem on my 32 bit desktop. One other point. I uninstalled (Complete), reinstalled>> Then uninstalled , and installed the X2 Same results . I have looked at all of the preferance settings, sure there must be one to solve this problem

Sep 14, 2011is there a way to have icons in the menus as with previous versions? the space seems to be there and the icons exist. but the option appears to have gone. it was always in in the customise menu dialogue. but appears to have gone.
i found this really useful because it enabled me to scan the menus quickly.
Paint Shop Pro :: Missing Toolbar Icons?
Nov 18, 2011I was messing around in PSP X4 and somehow managed to mess up my toolbars. Specifically, the STANDARD toolbar now has no images. I've uploaded a screen capture to show you what that looks like.

Paint Shop Pro :: X5 Button Icons Wrong?
Dec 18, 2012I just installed PSP X5 Ultimate (full install). After it completed it installed an update. All appeared to go fine. I opened the program and went to EDIT. I am familiar with PSP as I have used a number versions up to X2. The first thing I tried to do was crop a photo. The crop tool buttons are not correct. The "Apply", "Crop as new image" and so on under the crop area window are not correct. I see a square of colors. I see the same thing on the main tool bar for the "Copy Special" function and the "Share" button. There could be more that I have not discovered yet. I rebooted and tried again, but get the same thing. Also, the button icons look different each time I load.

Jun 4, 2013Shortly after I loaded PSP X5 on my computer, the picture icons on the buttons in the docking workspace changed and I don't know why. These are the icons at the top and bottom of the Docking area where I work with Layers and also have several other items docked.
I am using PSP X5 version 15.2.0.12
Across the top are the icons for " Edit Selection, Show/Hide Layer effects, Link/Unlink, Lock/Unlock, and Layer Styles".

Paint Shop Pro :: X6 Print Layout Icons Not Normal
Sep 19, 2013In my version of X6 32-bit, there is a problem with the icons in Print Layout, they're not the normal icons, but one's used when tying as script to an icon.
I have re-set X6, using the Shift key method, but the problem is still there. I can use the menus and print, but those icons don't belong there.

Dec 19, 2011I am sure i saw that somewhere but how do i get the icons to show back instead of the bare text list of the drop down menus? In the old versions, it was easier to find my way around if i had to change version and the list might not have been in the same order, or if i was making a tutorial and someone had a PSP in a different language; i could just display the icon instead of the name for the other person to be able to identify which tool i was talking about. But in later versions, they are gone. How do i get them back?

Oct 19, 2011How to view psp images in Windows Explorer (I have Windows 7 - 64 bit)? When I am in PSP X3 I open my files by going to "file" then "open". I get the standard psp icon instead of the actual pic view. PSD and PNG files show up, PSP images do not.
I do not like using the pic display at the bottom of my screen. I want the largest workspace possible.

Dec 4, 2011My floating toolbars have the icons across in a horizontal straight line, but every time I open PSPX4 they are stacked 2 rows or more. I have to readjust them every time. It remembers where I had them placed but doesn't remember they are horizontal and opens them with the icons vertical.This is with SP1 installed. I don't know if it did that before SP1. Don't have this problem with X3.

Jun 14, 2012For some reason when I use the cropping tool the floating tool bar has blank icons on it. Sometimes there may be lines in them like they tried to load but most of the time they are just completely white.
They still work and everything but you have to run your mouse over them and wait for the box to pop-up thats says what it is to see which one you need.

Apr 23, 2013I've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails.

Jan 3, 2012I have PS CS5 on my laptop and desktop. I have Mac os x 10.6.4 on both computers. I have a new Lexmark s605 printer set up wireless that I use for general stuff and an Epson 2400 for photos.
I can print from all applications to the Lexmark from my desktop except Photoshop CS5. It goes to the print queue and shows "Printing page 1 of 1" but just hangs, never prints. I can print from PS CS5 from my desktop to my Epson 2400. I can print from PS CS5 (wireless) from my laptop with no problem.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and PS CS5 on my desktop, same result. All the firmware, systems and applications are up to date. I am using 64 bit which prints from the laptop. I tried 32 bit just for the heck of it from the desktop and it did not make a difference. I've tried Lexmark support and Adobe support without much luck.  Adobe says it is Lexmark, Lexmark says it is Adobe. Adobe says it does not support networked printers?Â

Aug 26, 2012Very strange reactions from Photoshop CS6 when used on my Lenovo ThinkPad in an extended desktop situation. Any attempt to open an image in Photoshop is unsuccessful in showing the actual image, despite the layers box showing the thumbnail, the "open ifle" text box at the top indicating it is open, and the image details box also indicating correct data for the image file. If I close down extended desktop Photoshop works just fine. If I extend the desktop once Photoshop is running, I can move the open window to the extended desktop and it also works fine. Once I close Photoshop I am back to square one.

Aug 19, 2009I have Photoshop CS3 on a PC running Windows Vista. When I try to batch or automate I cannot access any files other than the desktop. If I do file>automate>batch and then go to choose folder, the only folders I can access is the desktop. There are no plus signs and no other options except desktop. The same thing happens if I go file>scripts>image processor. Someone told me this could be a permissions problem with Vista.

Apr 13, 2009I use Remote Desktop quite a bit to login to my computer and use programs installed on there. A frequent one is Adobe Photoshop. When I do my work in Remote Desktop everything works great, but when I'm actually at home on my pc it loads everything and the splash screen goes away and then all of a sudden it has "Photoshop CS4 has stopped working" error.
It turns out it is doing this with all of my adobe products. I am using Vista 32-Bit and all the products are CS4. One more thing I noticed is if I open Photoshop in remote desktop then login to my computer I can use it without error.
Photoshop :: Desktop Artifacts
Jul 31, 2009i recently fixed a virus on my computer after a few days hard work tracking it down, and since then i have experienced no blue screens anymore, but i had a probel with explorer.exe where it used sometimes over 800MB of memory doing nothing. With more research and monitoring, i discovered its cause was actually a corupt music file on my desktop, and every time i refreshed my desktop, explorer's memory usage would jump up a few dozen more kb of memory.
This is now fixed. BUT, i still have one symptom of something wrong, that doesnt seem to go. My PC is back to being fast it seems now, and there is no noticable real lag between just opening folders like there was, but my desktop still has problems. If i close a full screen program, the computer doesn't exactly slow down, its just the program closes very slightly slower than normal because it closes from top to bottom.
MSN in particular, always leves it's title bar behind when closed. And if i click and drag on my desktop, the little dashed box it makes sticks and doesn't go away. All of this is resolved by a refresh of the desktop, but it doesn't explain why it is happening. Windows XP 32bitNVidia 9800GTX GPU4GB RAM
Photoshop :: Metroid Desktop
Apr 19, 2007Here we have a wallpaper I am trying to pick apart piece by piece. To do so, I am making my own with a different character, color scheme, etc. I am just using this wallpaper as a guide since I like the general layout quite a bit.
There are a few areas I would like help with, but first...
Here is what I have worked out.
1. The hex grid I have made, along with the fill patterns and split character image (thanks to Aegis.)
Here is where I am stumped.
1. How do you created the white transparent "reticule-esque" areas in the center of the page. I assume you could create something in illustrator and import it, or work in photoshop alone. But the shapes seem quite complicated and I was curious if anyone had any ideas how to best create them. I know you would certainly need to use the grid to keep things lined up.
2. The other area of interest is the series of small white vertical bars coming off each black horizontal line. Each on is maybe 10 pixels in height and fades from white to transparent as they move up. Making one wouldn’t be too hard (Perhaps using a brush with a fade setting or filling a Marquee with a gradient), but making 200 seems like it might be tough. I suppose you could make a pattern and "fill" alone the length of the black lines, but there might be a better way.
3. The character has some really net white blur/highlighting going on especially on the top and bottom sections. If I had to take a guess, Id say a filter was probably used, though I have no idea which. That or maybe brightness/contrast settings.
