Photoshop :: Copying Text From Outside Text Editor And Pasting Into CS5 Text Layer?
May 20, 2012trying to copy txt from an outside text editor and pasting them into an open, editable text layer in my workspace. The problem is that I can COPY the text fine, but when I click over to PS to paste it into the open editable text layer it either pastes the previous text from my clipboard OR it won't paste anything at all. I can then go into any other text field on a browser, spreadsheet document, a different text editor, notepad, etc and successfully paste the proper batch of text I wanted to paste into PS. Sometimes I have some rather large files open 50+megs when I notice this happen. I have to save my work and close out entirely of PS and then open it again before I can begin editing my original document again and successfully paste the text into the open editable text layer. This may last for a few COPY/PASTE sessions of additional text in additional text layers, but then begins displaying the symptoms I described above.
I am on Win7 on an AlienWare M17XR3 laptop with 16G RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series display adapter.I assume it's either in my PS performance settings which I have PS using 10413MB RAM and has over 350G scratch disk space. If it's not that I guess my laptop system performance settings which I've never tinkered with since I purchased it.

May 21, 2008I paste Arabic font (a sentence in Arabic in Word for example) onto a text layer in photoshop, it compleatley switches the direction of the text and the sentence doesn't read as it was in word. This leads to us going through a very complicated process of saving it as a pdf and then importing as a vector.
Does anyone know how we just import Arabic text from another document so that PHotoshop (using CS3) renders it the right way around (words and individual 'letters')

But when I paste it, it keeps the Emails or Word Documents Font, Size & Color instead. I think I clicked on the wrong thing when I first installed Corel. I cannot locate my Corel disc to reinstall it.

I seem to be getting stuck on the "Path from Text" part, I'm using it, but nothing happens. Do I need to be using the tool for all of the letters individually? but I've spent ages trying to sort this out.....Driving me bonkers. I'm using GIMP 2.8 BTW.

May 30, 2012I'm a LONG time Corel user -- back to version 4. Have been using X3 for years. Bought X5 but liked X3 better so I kept using it. (Basically only used X5 to import customer Illustrator files and PDFs that wouldn't import correctly into X3.)
Got new computer with Windows 7 and decided to upgrade to X6 64 bit. Overall it's been fine. Only using for a few days.
One thing I do are custom estimates for my clients. I keep several "stock" paragraphs of content on the desktop so I can copy and paste these into the estimate. Typically I just open an old estimate, rename it, and start the new estimate.
Opened X3 estimate in X6 and renamed it. Having some strange behaviors. The file was way too big. Should have been a couple hundred k and it was more than 4mb. Crashed several times. When I would add a page and copy content from a previous page, it would make the desktop grid printable, and I couldn't turn it off. Crashed some more.
Decided to start with a new X6 document. Copied pieces from the X3 file to make a new estimate template. File size now looks correct at a couple hundred k. Everything working fine except when I try to copy text from a paragraph box on the desktop INTO a paragraph box on the page it crashes. Not every time, but often.
Illustrator :: Copying Vector With Text Doesn't Work Anymore
Aug 24, 2012I must have hit a hotkey or something because now when I drag select vector and text and copy paste inside the same document it only pastes unformated text back without any vector.
When I use create outlines on the text it copies fine but if Im just copying everythign together or only the text object I get unformated text back.

Oct 19, 2009I am new to VBA for Autocad and have basic knowledge of Autocad, but have experience with VBA with EXCEL. I am trying to search for text written on to a drawing that has been written as plain text. There is no table. I am writing code to open each drawing in the file as a for each next loop and then find text, then copy text to a table cell, in a table set up within the loop statement. Then I intend to transfer the data to Excel. When I copy the text into the cells of the table and transfer to Excel, the text does not transfer. Is there something I need to do to re-format the text copied straight from the drawing into the table cell. The drawngs have been produced by some external drafting service provider, most likely in India. The functionality of Autocad has not been used and therefore, there are no tables. The text titles, sub-titles etc... are just basically text with lines drawn around them, to simulate a table that looks like a table but are infact not.
My main problem is copying the plain text (titles, sub-titles, references etc...) into a table cell for export to Excel. Any knowledge of copying Autocad plain text to Autocad table cells
AutoCAD LT :: Text Changing To Bold When Copying / Pasting Moving And Stretching
Sep 10, 2012I am in AutoCAD LT 2008. Within the last few months I have noticed that some of my text is changing from a regular font style to bold when being copied/pasted, moving, and/or stretching. This is also happening with the text in my dimension style. When I check properties, nothing has changed from one text's set of properties to the other. I have not changed any settings that I am aware of since this started happening. In some cases if I paste with a base point, then paste I can avoid this, but not in all cases. I have also opened the text boxes to verify that the bold button did not get activated. This is a very annoying problem and if I don't catch all the text that has been affected it makes drawings look inconsistent.

Jul 27, 2013I'm using Illustrator CC although I haven't tried doing this in earlier versions. When I copy text that has a drop shadow made with "effect/stylize/drop shadow" the drop shadow is editable from the Appearance pallet only in the original document. In the pasted document the drop shadow is there but does not show up in the Appearance pallet so I can't edit it. It shows up on a different layer so I can delete it but then I have to create an editable shadow from scratch on the new document. When I copy objects that are not text with drop shadow, the editiability remains, but it doesn't seem to work with text unless I create outlines of the type and then I lose the editability of the text. Is there any way to copy drop shadows that are editable on text?

Jan 15, 2013I have an issue with copying cells containing text from Microsoft Excel 2011 for Mac and pasting them into Illustrator CS5. I select the whole cell(s) from Excel, open a blank Ai document and, without anything selected so the format is preserved, I paste the cells.
The issue comes with the resulting copy of the cells in Ai. The type which was bold in Excel is bold in Ai... but not really. Ai pastes the bolded text as not bold, but then makes a copy of that same text, puts a stroke on it, then places that over the regular text, so it looks bold. But now I have two copies of the same word, one regular and one with a stroke on it right on top of one another.
This normally wouldn't be an issue but I have to edit this info in Ai later - and there's a second problem. When I paste the bold text from Excel in Ai, the resulting word is broken up into individual text blocks for each letter. Instead of preserving the whole word as one editable text block, I now have to click on each letter to change it.
There is a catch 22 to these problems: These cells that I am copying from include bolded and regular text, and the regular text pasted into Ai without any problems (even the text blocks are preserved). So it's the bold text that is causing the problems
I have a feeling this has to do with how the individual cells are formated in Excel, but I have to copy data from many different cells made by many different people, so I am at a loss of what to do.
I have include a screen shot of what's going on with cells after I paste them in Ai. I have moved the oulined "5" up so you can see the regular "5" below it.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Archstyle Font Changes To Simplex When Copying / Modifying / Pasting Text
May 15, 2012We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and AutoCAD LT 2013 in our office-just upgraded. Now, whenever we go into a drawing that uses the Archstyle (Shx) font and try to copy or paste any text, the font changes to simplex. We have to exit completely out of AutoCAD to recover the font.

Feb 14, 2012I'm taking a web design class, and we are doing a preliminary layout in Photoshop CS5. Last night the prof taught us how to do something he calls "slide copying." It's basically holding down Opt or Alt while clicking on the layer, and then sliding it downward. You then get a new layer and its number.
Here is what I am trying to do. I have a 1" border around my web page. I am typing in a single letter, and then copying it. How can I make sure that when I drag it into its new position, it will be aligned with the original letter? There are going to be dozens of these going around the border, so I want to get this right from the start.
Something like "distribute horizontal centers"?
I know that I can group layers and make any changes there, of course, but I'm wondering about the easiest way to do it in the first place.
The border will be around all sides.
Photoshop :: Copying Transparency
Mar 11, 2011This may sound a bit of an odd question... I often find myself having to paste pictures into powerpoint, and, when parts of my picture are transparent, I have to save it as png before importing it into powerpoint, because if I use CTRL C in PS and then paste into powerpoint, the transparent areas appear as white. Surely there must be a way to copy in PS so that the transparency is preserved? I am using CS5 EXT.

Only solution I have found to far, is to over-scale the design before copying it, but that neither comfortable, as then the page-size in no longer applicable, the designs mess between pages as part of the design falls outside the page, or I need to resize also the page size what creates inconveniences for printing

Photoshop :: Copying Layers Between Files
Sep 29, 2007In PS CS3, is there a simple way to copy the contents of a partially transparent layer from one image and paste them into another image of the same size without PS trying to center the pasted content? If so, how is this accomplished?
Here's the situation. I am trying to make a bunch of blending mode reference images. They consist of a base color layer, a blend color layer, and several different layers for labels. The base and the blend color layers have off center squares of gradiated colors, so you can see how the blend changes based on changes to the base and blend colors.
I've finished grayscale versions for each layer blending mode, now I'm working on a color version. I have created one (Luminosity), and now I want to past the blend color and base color layers from the color Luminosity image into all the grayscale images so that I can reuse the labels in grayscale images.
When I drag the layers from the layer palette of one document to the document window of another document, it places the color squares in the location based upon where I drop them. If I copy from one document to the other, it centers the color squares (they need to be off-center to work with the pre-existing labels). I've not tried replacing the transparency in the blend and base color layers, because... well.. because I shouldn't have to. Dagnabit. But, I suspect that would work.
I'm running Photoshop CS3 Extended v10.0 on Mac OS X v10.4.10 w/2GB RAM.
