Photoshop :: Convert NEFs And Save As PSDs - Write Access Not Granted
Oct 5, 2013
Just installed CS6 Extended, I cannot convert my NEF files and save them to psd. I get a message that says "cannot save because write access was not granted" I am using my new Mac. I never had this problem with my Windows CS5 extended.
I keep getting the above error when working off of my xserve in photoshop. It is new in CS5 which we have recently upgraded to. Several people at my office are getting it. Sometimes it displays a random name with afp in front of it (I assume it is the temp name when photoshop is swapping out the new file for the old file.)
It only seems to happen with psd and psb files. I have write access to the volume in question and it doesn't matter if I am the only one accessing the folder or not. I can save as and it seems to work; but it does delete the file.
Error of "Could not save (file name) because write access was not granted. The users are pulling the files from a Mountain Lion server. They all have readwrite access. If they try to save the file in the same directory they get that error but they can save it anywhere else on the sharepoint. If they save it in another directory then reopen it make a change and do a save as they can save it back to the original directory.
I connect my hard drive to compuuter, I open raw files in bridge load a file into ps, after which I would like to elaborate the new hard drive to save it, but it opens a window that says'' can not save the file because it was not granted write access.''
I previously organized and tagged a batch of raw photos using viewNX on my PC. The PC crashed and I am now trying to edit that same batch of photos with Elements 11 on my iMac. I am able to access the photos, but when I try to save my edits I receive the message, "Unable to save because write access was not granted." I am not on a networked computer, no one else has access to the photos, and the photos are not open in any other program. iMac and Elements 11 are new to me.
why My attempts to Save photos and get message WRITE ACCESS WAS NOT GRANTED My CS5.1 will not open any .png file as well. There is a problem with this programme on Mac computers According to my computer it is updated and has versionb 10.6.8 But this forum has indicated that there is a Version 10.8.4 I have also found that you have to upgrade to CS6 to overcume trhis problem.
I have Photoshop Elements 10. Since installing adobe air I keep getting the above response whenever I try saving a new version of a picture. I have since removed Adobe Air but still get the same response each and every time. I have the latest mac and my operating system is Lion X.
I use lightroom 4 whit photoshop CS6 when I send any file from my NAS server whit LR4 to PS6 when I want save it take "Could not save because write access was not granted". But I didn't have this problem whit LR3.6 and PS5. I use mac os x 10.7.4
I am using PSE 11 on a macbook pro and am experiencing difficulty saving an edited file to an external disc drive. I keep getting an error message 'Could not save as “2011-08-04_0_edited-1.jpg” because write access was not granted.'
Raw Therapee is a great tool, but I find the documentation befuddling. I'd like to convert about 100 Nefs to 16 bit pgn. I'm not making edits at this time, but would also be interested in knowing what my optional line would be to apply a batch edit.
I am trying to save an image that I have photoshopped but I am getting a message that says 'write access is denied'. It appears that all of my images are read only.
I recently switched from Windows Vista to and iMac and I'm trying to edit photos in Photoshop CS6 and it won't let me make changes or edits to the photos stating that it can't allow me "write access" to save the changes? Where is the lock up? Is it in the external hard drive settings? In the camera? In the files themselves?
I'm upgrading some older COM based code to work in VB.Net with Civil 3D 2012. The app iterates through all of the Alignment objects, finding the ones with SuperEleveation, and places the names in a listbox. The user can select one or more of the alignments from the list to have the SuperElevation slope values modified.
The problem I am having is when I get the alignment object to update I get an execption that the object is locked. It's probably something simple but I'm at a loss to where to go next. Here as a brief code snippet:
' Sub1 is called to find all of the alignment objects with SuperElevation Sub Sub1() Dim objCol As Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.ObjectIdCollection Dim objID As Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.ObjectId Dim tm As Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Transaction Dim myAlg as Alignment [code]....
I open a PS file. I chose 'Save As' but uncheck 'Show Layers' in the dialog box. So now it's essentially a 'Save A Copy'. When the new file is saved the original file is written to (although nothing changed) and now has the same modification date as the 'Save A Copy' file. Super strange and causing issues. Because if one flattens or does anything to the original file, those changes are baked into the original file!

I'm using PS5.1. When I try to Save for Web & Devices I'm getting write permission errors. I haven't used this application for over a year, but it used to work fine.I also used the Mac Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
I have both Photoshop CS5.1 and Photoshop 6 and have upgraded to latest versions of Adobe Camera Raw and DNG converter. However, my NEF files still will not convert/open. The product descriptions for ACR and DNG converter says it should support the D4 files. I have clients to send pics to asap and this issue is costing my money.
I am having this message display EVERY time I try and save something in my newly installed Photoshop (cs5) "Could not save "filename.jpg” because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to unlock the file or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders.
I have tried Uninstalling and reinstalling after resetting permissions, I have tried saving the file under a new name, I have tried adding a new admin... nothing seems to work and my Illustrator is working seamlessly!??
I am getting extreme variations in file size when I open my D800e nefs in Photoshop cs5, & Bridge. When I highlight the same nefs on my Mac(10.6.8) & "get info", I get another file size. D800e files are about 103 MB each at 8 bit, but can vary dramatically when I open them in Bridge or Cs5.
I would like to know if it is possible to save changes directly in the source data base file (Access) from Auto Cad Map.
I have a polyline draw (Footpath network). I have converted this draw to shapefile, and then I connect it to the Access Data Base via ODBC with a join.
The problem is that this shapefile is not definitive, and it is probably that some people will need to edit and create new features, and I don´t know how to do it.
Which would be the best option to do this? It would be better if I work with the dwg drawings and the data sources?.
This error is reported when attempting to save an illustrator file over an existing file with the same name. Yes saving it to the desktop and then copying it over the file on the shared drive works. This is not a solution for us. Full access has been granted to the user on the network share being used.
When I import files into LR2.7 It seems to skip some NEF's but I get the previews though. The folder with all the files is on the desktop but I get the usual message that the file is missing
I have just bought a refurb' imac 27" and have imported my photos to the imac, inside a folder I have created inside picture called 'Lightroom 4 photos'
The photos were originally NEFs on my windows laptop, and were imported/edited originally using the Nikon programs transfer, view nx and capture nxw, They all contain my copyright info etc, and have been keyworded. I am about to import them into LR4, but a little niggle is stopping me. I understand that LR4 won't read my NX2 edits, but can't find out whether a) LR will read the existing metadata so I have to do nothing, or b)I will have to enter all metadata again into lightroom.
I have about 800 photos, so wouldn't be a huge problem if I needed to re-enter
Since I updated CS6 recently (I use the creative cloud) I have had problems with saving some PSDs in photoshop. My workflow is as follows: I import from lightroom 4 as 8bit psds into Photoshop, do my editing and then click to close the file. Then usually the save box would pop up and I would click "save", sending the psd back to Lightroom. This still works on some files, but others just close (even though I have done substantial editing on them) and I have lost a lot of time, having to redo the editing. I tried to use the "save as" command and the file is saved correctly and is also sent back to lightroom, but it takes so much longer and is annoying to do... I have tried to close and reopen the applications, but it still happens...
