When I import files into LR2.7 It seems to skip some NEF's but I get the previews though. The folder with all the files is on the desktop but I get the usual message that the file is missing

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a refurb' imac 27" and have imported my photos to the imac, inside a folder I have created inside picture called 'Lightroom 4 photos'
The photos were originally NEFs on my windows laptop, and were imported/edited originally using the Nikon programs transfer, view nx and capture nxw, They all contain my copyright info etc, and have been keyworded. I am about to import them into LR4, but a little niggle is stopping me. I understand that LR4 won't read my NX2 edits, but can't find out whether a) LR will read the existing metadata so I have to do nothing, or b)I will have to enter all metadata again into lightroom.
I have about 800 photos, so wouldn't be a huge problem if I needed to re-enter
I have found support for Nikon D800 NEF files incomplete in Lightroom 4 with ACR 7.0.
NEF files created by the camera in 16:9 mode using the shutter release set to take stills (setting g4) cannot be previewed or imported in LR 4.
Setting g4 and the 16:9 mode are discussed in the Nikon D800/D800E User Guide on pages 324 and 68 respectively.
Photoshop with ACR 7.1 beta seems to be able to open these files.
In lightroom 4 when I import images it does not show all the images in the folder. I have deleted the folder from lightroom and attempted to reload it. When I did it had the same problem it did not show about half or the images in the folder. I went back to the folder and check all the images and could not find anything wrong with the images.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading from lightroom 3 I'm having a problem importing my raw files. Most of the time Lightoom 4 will only recognize some of my .CR2 files and only the JPGS of the rest of them. The weird thing is that it's not my card reader. When I access the card through finder I can see all of my files. It's only in Lightroom that I can't access all the files.
It's very random about which CR2s will and will not be recognized at any give time. Sometimes it's one day only of a shoot, sometimes it's completely random photos spread across different days. I always shoot RAW+JPEG on a Canon 60D. As of now I just keep plugging and unplugging my card until all the RAWs show up for an import but this is annoying and time consuming.
I imported yesterday’s shoot into LR4 the same way as ever, nothing new, and they seemed to import very quickly. Didn’t think anything of it at the time, but now I’ve got the dreaded question mark against the shots. I try right click, locate missing files and the dialogue box comes up but with no files or folders selected so it seems I can’t go further down this route. LR says the files are in “Volumes” on my hard drive, but that folder simply doesn’t seem to be there when I use finder.

Imported files are copied to the location specified the last time the item was available. I've looked in all of panels, but don''t find any way to disable the second copy function, or to manage the second copy function. I'm running MAC 10.6.8.

when i import all my photos from an external hard drive LR4.4 will not include all the sub folders and some folders .. there are about 38,000 photos and the size of all the photos is 350 GB

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have both Photoshop CS5.1 and Photoshop 6 and have upgraded to latest versions of Adobe Camera Raw and DNG converter. However, my NEF files still will not convert/open. The product descriptions for ACR and DNG converter says it should support the D4 files. I have clients to send pics to asap and this issue is costing my money.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am getting extreme variations in file size when I open my D800e nefs in Photoshop cs5, & Bridge. When I highlight the same nefs on my Mac(10.6.8) & "get info", I get another file size. D800e files are about 103 MB each at 8 bit, but can vary dramatically when I open them in Bridge or Cs5.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI could export to any codec in avi format. Now it seems that only mjpeg, DV Video, uncompressed or xiph.org are available. This wouldn't concern me in the slightest if I was only trying to export video, but I'm trying to get an avi to show up as a material and max simply refuses to let me select it. I even tried re-exporting the video in Mjpeg format and it STILL won't let me import the avi. VLC plays the video fine as does WMP.
Every other program I load (Premiere, Video Studio) has all of the codecs loaded so the part that confuses me is how do I get these codecs to show up in max and why did they go missing in the first place as last week everything worked fine.
If uninstalling and reinstalling will get the external files that I am missing now, will properly load on the reinstall. It seems that nearly every tutorial I have tried to do is missing critical external files. When I open the material editor, the compact one, the sample files are there, but they are all blank. That is there has been no material added to the sample. Is there a way I can import the missing external files without having to uninstall and reinstall?

I do not show cdr or any extensions from a to p or show all files. If I look in windows explorer everything is ther and I can drag a file to the draw page. I tried repair and then reinstalling x5, still no show. I show the files being associated with the program.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis issue occured shortly after update to 4.2, but not directly after. I am using windows 8.
The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.
I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.
I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.
System is an Acer Aspire 7811 64 bits w/ Intel i7, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 GB internal mem and no external drives.
I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Auto Import to import my RAW files. Each time LR imports my files the Previous Import count number increases. Is there a way to reset this count so it shows a true reflection of the photos from my previous import session?
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you manually import files the Previous Import count number resets itself automatically. I've Googled this problem & this question has been asked before - all users were utilising Auto Import.
