Whenever I open a document a document (large size / small size / lots of layers / very few layers) photoshop opens the document, about 70% of the file previews and the Mac rainbow wheel starts spinning and Photoshop becomes entirely unresponsive.
View 9 RepliesI can open photoshop but it does not respond to anything, not even the Ctrl key. I have a new pheonix envy and windows 8. I have only used this photoshop program for one editing project. I have tried to reset the preferences with the keyboard shortcuts but nothing happens. I cannot quit the program or close the window. The program is completely frozen everytime I open it and all I can do it restart the computer. What could be causing this? It was working before I edited some photos....
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I upgraded to Photoshop CS6, I've found that every once in a while the keyboard becomes unresponsive. I can't tell whether anything specific that I'm doing triggers it, but I'll be editing an image and will press a shortcut key and find it doesn't work. It doesn't happen when I first open up an image, but usually after I've been working for a while. As far as I can tell (it's pretty random) it seems to happen when I'm using a tool to apply an effect to an image, like this last time it happened when I'd been using the Spot Healing Brush repeatedly on a photograph. (Of course that could be correlation without causality, since I'm a big fan of the Spot Healing Brush and tend to use it quite a bit whenever I'm editing photos). Note that the modifier keys still function, but all of the letter and number keys are unresponsive.

Sometimes - and lately it seems like it happens always, there's a sound associated with the shut off. It's possible that the times I didn't hear the sound I had my speakers off. It's a brief clicking noise - and I don't think it's any of the built-in alert sounds on my Mac, since I just listened to all of them and I recall this sound being different - but the sound is definitely coming from my speakers and is not a mechanical sound from the machine. The only way I've found to get my keyboard responding again is to shut down Photoshop and restart.

As you can see the window becomes in a greyed out colour and I have to keep clicking on the window then off the window (desktop) then so forth until it eventually lets me work again

I'm on a 2.6 Ghz retina MacBook Pro, 16 Gb RAM, and this in connection with an SSD should make this tool very good to use. Operating system: OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion", latest update.

Unfortunately, it seems to develop some kind of overload, during which you cannot use Photoshop at all. No commands like "undo selection", "quit", "close file" are accepted.Â

Hint: it seems to happen when you option select (subtract from an existing selection).

Hint: the freeze can be shortened by a tool switch (has to be through clicking on a tool, keyboard commands are frozen as well)

Hint: the "subtract selection" move that caused the freeze appears after Photoshop comes back to life after a couple of minutes. The subtraction to the selection seems to be random, makes no sense, and is not the regular function of the tool.

First step after this freeze would be to undo the last selection, and continue working.If you do several "add to selection" moves, they add up in a kind of waiting line. If you do the subtract from selection move, this doesn't work, and the freeze happens.

So far, I have not noticed the freeze when adding to a selection. Adding to a selection was always quick and instant. The bug must sit in the "subtract from selection" code.On most freezes, the ants continue walking, I just had one (again with subtracting selection) where even the ants stopped walking.

I don't think it has anything to do with Photoshop working. I have used the quick selection tool regularly under CS5 on my old machine (which was a museum piece), and while I had to wait sometimes, it was never ground to a freeze/halt like the quick selection tool under CS6.
I am trying to use the controls in Lr and they are unresponsive. They worked fine before but not now.

At times, when I click on on a menu item (e.g., Edit) it changes intensity but doesn't drop down. It knows I am clicking on it by the change in intensity, but nothing happens. It's true for all menu items. To get any to function I have to do something elsewhere, like slightly resize one of the windows (although it's not just a case of clicking anywhere - only some actions reset the menu). Then all is well for a while.

If I copy and paste from one folder to the next while in the open dialog box it copy the file fine but the next time I try to open any drawing file the program goes unresponsive and crashes.

The mouse is unresponsive in the drawing space, regardless of paper or model space. I am missing my crosshairs and can't pan or zoom. I can click on menu's, ribbon, command prompt or otherwise as long as it is outside the normal workings space. I can not close a drawing unless I close the entire program. Finally, I have to click in the command prompt space in order to type a command. I tried rebooting and it appears my last resort may to repair or reinstall the software.Â

In a last few weeks I am having a peculiar problem with CC Premiere Pro.Sequence tab and all of it content become unresponsive/does not redraw upon any action other than changing the tab size by dragging it's borders or by using next edit/previous edit shortcuts. No other action redraws the UI.I am flying blind.As a part of troubleshooting I have opened an old (CS6) project in CS6. It works just fine in there. When opening the same project in Premiere CC the behavior described occurs.I do not get any error messages.Seems to have started after one of the CC updates.

Basically, when i add a sub-object to a slot in the material editor (Using Mental Ray)nothing happens right away, so I have to do it again to get it to show up in the material editor. When i do get it to show up the slot looks all wrong and distorted, everything is unresponsive. I can save the scene and restart Max and everything will be ok, but as soon as i try to add another Multi material to another object it happens again. This was happening also prior to updating to R6 which i did last night. I've read a post about the same thing for 2012 but there was no solution.
I just tried it with Direct3D rather than Nitrous and did not run into this issue (using default Scanline).Just switching to Mental Ray and changing the standard material to MR A&D made the program unresponsive again. I'm starting to think it's MR that is giving me issues. Upon closing Max i get an error message saying that an error occurred and the program will close.Just switched to OpenGL and tried it with MR, still getting the same results.
The program launches. That's about all it does.
Ex. I drew a box with a white fill and black border.I tried to swap the fill and border and nothing happened.I zoomed out and it showed the change. Basically anytime I do something I have to adjust the zoom to get it to show the edit I wanted.

CS 6, just updated.Running on an iMac 3.4 ghz Intel Core i7, 16 g ram, tones of scratch disc.PS opens and I can do the work but when I save and move on to something else, it crashes everytime. I have sent 7 crash reports to Adobe today.

I'm writing to the Adobe Forum because GeForce feels they are not the cause of the problem. Here is what I've done toward resolving this problem: As a side note let me add here that after upgrading CS2 to CS4 this error message appeared religiously. That caused me to purchased an Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT display adapter w/ 512mb memory.
Prior to installing the new card I downloaded their newest drivers for this card after removing the old drivers. Originally I had a GeForce 7600 card. The error message continued with the new card. I've searched the settings within CS4 trying to find an option that would resolve the problem. This machine has a new motherboard, a D945GNT Intel board. It will support 64-bit however I'm currently running XP Pro 32-bit, SP3.
My Photoshop Tool bar in CS 5 constantly closes on its own. I have to go very often to Window menu to re-open Tool bar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was creating a digital scrapbook page this morning, and as I went to save, CS6 crashed without warning (as it does 50% of the time for me when I have a project I am working on). Usually, I go to save, or open a new file to work with and the whole program just shuts off on me without a word. It is simply there one second and gone the next. If I am lucky, it has recovered something of what I have done in the past 10 minutes. HOWEVER today, it crashed, and when I opened it back up, it recovered half of what I had done and immediately crashed again, giving me this error message:

This is the first time I have had this happen with an error message. Usually it just closes up altogether and I have to reopen and redo my projects from wherever the last save point was. I have my recovery set to 10 minutes because I seem to lose my files so often when trying to save. This is getting a bit ridiculous and I did NOT have this problem even one time with the CS6 Beta.Â
Ever since I've installed PS CC it has crashed several times per day. I've installed 14.1.2, and the crashes still persist.

The viewport always fails to rerender at some point when I'm zooming in or out or have changed layers. The scenerios differ, but it always has to do with a needed graphics refresh. On some occasions the crash dialog will not appear until I attempt to save (knowing that's already crashed, but hoping...).
I have used Photoshop since (I believe) version 2. CC is the worst release I have ever seen.

A major part of my workflow on CS2 involved cutting and pasting files, renaming files and deleting files in Bridge.
Now with my new installation of CS4 everytime I try to move anything Bridge will quit! I'm also having problems after deleting NEF files in ACR when returming to Bridge as they do not remove theirselves every time. Navigating out a folder then back in sometimes works, other times it causes a crash.
Any advice? I can't even revert back to CS2 as my Nikon D3 files don't work on it!
I noticed sometimes, well more often now when I go to save for the web and hit the "save" button to select my directory it will automatically try to save the image as .html instead of .jpg which is already selected? 7.0 bug? It is very rare this happens but it is becoming more frequent now.
View 6 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop has never acted like this before. I opened a file and simply removed the lock on the layer. Then the image is gone and left with a transparent layer.
Then I tried importing video to layers and then this happened.I have restarted my computer , updated photoshop and even updated the operating system.
Everytime I use Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) on my MacBook Pro with Retina display (OS X 10.8.2, 2.6GHz Intel Core i7), the software randomly keeps on crashing without warning. There is no specific thing that I do that makes it crash. I just edit an image like I usually do on Photoshop such as moving objects, creating new layers, and clicking on different sets of tools and the program crashes.

I haven't done much work on it recently but I sometimes also had trouble saving Photoshop files. I don't remember exactly but whenever I save, a error message pops up and tells me that I cannot save the file; saving with a different file name works but I have to constantly make "file1.psd, file2.psd, file3.psd" to aviod the error message.

I haven't tried out my other CS4 Web Preimium softwares on my new MacBook yet and don't have the install disk for it right now since I forgot to bring it with me to study abroad so I can't try reinstalling it.
I have a client who asked for a SPECIFIC shade of blue which happens to be 100,70,0,0. Now I know my screen will never show the exact color, always shows lighter. This part is ok. But I go and change the values on the color picker, and then 10 minutes later when I come back to it, the values changed to 95,65,1,0. Why would this happen, it KEEPS happening and not just one one color, on ALL OF THEM, it just changes the numbers slightly fromw hat I put in.
