I created a set of actions a few weeks ago and have been using them regularly. Today all of my actions with curves are no longer working (giving the same effect).
Instead of having the settings I put up on the curves layer, an empty curves layer comes up instead. Is there a way to fix this?
Since upgrading to Illustrator CC, my actions haven't been working right. All the details from certain steps are completely gone. For example, if a step involved rotating the selection by 90°, the "Rotate" step will still be there, but there is no longer a disclosure arrow next to it with the value of 90°. Also, the Fkey that was previously bound to the action has been removed.

I have another action that selects all shapes with a similar fill and stroke, and the "Select Similar" step is still there, but again, the disclosure arrow is gone that included the information of "Fill & Stroke". Also, the Fkey associated with that action is gone as well.

When I restore my actions from a saved copy, they are retained from file to file, but once I quit Illustrator and reopen it, the actions break again.
Is there any way to get the broken symbol in a broken dimension like shown below?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.
My computer crashed and I removed all apps and reinstalled so now none of my actions appear. However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.

Now, in past, when I saved actions CS2 would "remember" where this folder was, making real easy to save.
Lately, it keep defaulting to save as in the app folder-- even though I did navigate to my special area on last save as.
I shoot strictly in raw (nef from a D80). All of a sudden a few days ago CS decided it did not want to open raw files any more, tiffs and jpgs still work fine. The first thing I tried was to download the latest raw plugin for CS and install it, still resulting in the same problem. I then proceeded to uninstall and reinstall CS in a few different ways, but to no avail. I also tried opening a raw file from my backup drive with the same results. The specific error message is "could not complete your request because of a disk error," which doesn't mean much to me but I am getting the idea that it is a problem with my machine and not the CS software itself.

It makes a 2550 x 1880 image, that I'm trying to convert to 612 x 432 into a 512 x 512 image. It also seems to be having an issue with eps files, because when I open the same eps again and run the action it adds a '-1' then '-2' then '-3' and so on, to the end of the name.

I've tried it on three Macs works the same on each one. I'm try to convert .eps files created in illustrator to .gifs for web preview. I can make an action in Illustrator, but there's no droplet. And if I save the files in .ai then the action for the droplet won't make it past opening the files. Even though suppress action open prompts are turned off.Â
i have broken text is what someone told me, and its causing photoshop not to open.
but i have over 3000 fonts in my windows fonts folder
how can i find and take out the broken text more effetively?
I was downloading pictures from someone's memory chip and when I wanted to use the pics, I got an error of "broken picture" and can't proceed any further....

This is hopefully something simple that I am just missing, but am panicking! I can toggle the tools bar on and off, but all that appears is the little slice of blue with the feather on - no tools, and no obvious way to get them back! I'm slightly freaking out as have a mammoth design project on, and whilst I have re-downloaded a trial version its only got a few days left on it and i'll never finish in that time!

Then I added my old fonts because I was setting up this new PC (1k+ fonts) and then I got this problem. already tried re-installing Photoshop several times, deleting configs and restarting my computer but nothing seems to work and the problem persists...
why Photoshop changes grayscale values when pasted from the clipboard.

For example, I have a 24-bit bitmap on the clipboard that has every value set to (128,128,128). When I paste it into Photoshop the RGB values become (149,149,149) and (150,150,150), and not (128,128,128) like they should be.
My brushes have broken in some way.

I am doing some photo retouching and have the original photo on the background layer. Now I have never been able to get my clone stamp to work when I add a "new layer" and try working on that layer. It will work on the original background image, where there are definitely pixels. But the new layer sitting on top of the background layer is transparent, and my clone stamp won't do anything
But I want to be able to retouch on the new layer without affecting the original background layer. So I'm watching this Quicktime movie by J. Kost on Advanced Photoshop Portrait Retouching (I bought the entire set from her at Fotofusion) and I am watching her do this!!! But I can't! She is retouching a portrait with the clone stamp....the transparent layer 1 is active above the background layer (ie it's highlighted) and the paintbrush well is indicating that the transparent layer 1 is what is being worked on.
I checked my opacity for this layer...it's 100%. I am working in 8bit RGB mode. PS 6.01. Blending mode is normal....
Do any photoshop gurus have any idea about what I am doing wrong? As a beginner (I have only seriously been studying photoshop for about 2 years...and I know it takes a long time), this problem has been confusing me...and not just with the clone stamp but also with the other brushes, and thus knowing when I can work on a seemingly transparent layer versus one with pixels.
I am running Photoshop CS4 and whenver I try to make an adjustment layer only affect the layer below it by creatnig a clipping mask, it just disables the Adjustment layer. What I mean by this is that its just as if I hid the adjustment layer, so it doesn't affect anything. I've tried everything in the Solutions to Common Problems thread.

"Requires a pressure sensitive tablet."
I'm running Vista x64 Business and PS CS4 x64. Pressure sensitivity works in PS CS3 and PS CS2.
I'm really saddened to say that I find PS CS4 the slowest and most troublesome release yet. I start to regret ordering an upgrade from my beloved CS2 (which had a broken Vista support).

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a 3D Mesh from Grayscale in Photoshop 14.1.2, the resulting depth map appears to renormalize its depth. That is, I apply a levels adjustment to lower the depth map's contrast (e.g., output levels to 0 and 12), and that has no effect on the mesh. However, if I add a bit of white to the map, the other areas of the mesh flatten with the white spot becoming the high point. If I remove the the painted bit, the map renormalizes such that its lightest value acts like white, and darkest black, even if they are not.

After clicking Alt+Click the whole picture transformed into rectangular fields and all masks are broken. I save the file 5min before that accident and it still works - only this file is dead

1) I can open a video and play it back at the speed of the video.

2) I can not get playback faster than 1 fps if there are any filters applied - the pre-render / buffering isn't working at all.

3) I can not "Render Video" by choosing either "Render Video from the menus or the Export Arrow button in the GUI.
As soon as I select either I get a Progress Bar that that says "Initializing Video Export" but never finishes. I have waited as long as 4hrs and still no dice.I've tried with more than a few different videos and the result is always he same. Here are three of the videos I have tried with:

I use modified versions of the standard round brush for my art. And just a few days ago when I started up photoshop, my transfer and shape dynamics tools were not working. I can tick them on and off, edit the sliders and such but it doesn't effect the brush like it should.

I tried re-booting the brushes and resetting the painting workspace but it didn't make a difference. I then uninstalled photoshop under the impression that if I re-installed it, it would load up photoshop with factory settings. But it just re-loaded the broken version I thought I had deleted and it has no icon now.
Have a scanned glass negative that is broken. How to attach the broken pieces in Photoshop .
