View 1 RepliesI'm in class and the teacher just showed us Selective Color. I usually use Hue Saturation to enhance colors or color correction. Is there a diffence between the two tools?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running photoshop CS3 in a macbook pro under windows xp, and I want to add color to something in my picture. I used "selective color" (Layer > adjustments > selective color) to add color to a whitish-looking robe that is worn by a character that I created in photoshop earlier, but even when I move the slider to +100 % the color is still too washed out (will add images later). I know from experience using Photoshop CS 3 in my old laptop (a HP Compaq Presario X6000 running windows XP)Â that to get the depth of color I want in my character's robe, I shouldn't have to move the slider all the way to +100 %. Is there any way to fix this so I can get the same color depth I got when I used my old laptop? P.S. When I choose "selective color" a dialogue box comes up. I left the settings in this dialogue box as they are seen in the image, and clicked "ok".

ps i would like to have cs6 manual in pdf.
I work on an image and use Selective Color to make adjustments, then, out of nowhere, the panel no longer operates.
I can no longer select the colors from the drop down menu for adjustments because the menu is grayed out...here is a photo to demonstrate...
In a file with several layers, my monitor temporarily blacks out when adjusting colors in a Selective Color adjustment layer. Is there a solution?I changed the Advanced Graphics Processor Settings to "Normal" from "Advanced." Seems better but am I losing performance?

CS6 is consistenly locking up in the selective color and curves dialog. i.e. I come to the selective color dialog and try to choose the reds and it is stuck on whites, which I used last and I can't change it. I have to quit and relaunch. The same thing is happening with the Curves dialog. I can edit the RGB curve , but can't select the R, G or B channels until I relaunch. It works for a while and then it just stops.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot stand it when I make a new layer in Illustrator and the color hint becomes yellow. This usually happens on the third new layer into every project. I can go in and manually change it from yellow to the ten plus other colors, but I just want yellow completely out of the list. It's awful to look at, and I think every other color is easier.

A few days ago, I suddenly cannot find the eyedropper to select color, either in type or color functions. When I click the color boxes, it now opens up the color menu with the usual sliders, crayons, specturms, etc, but no eyedropper.
I am used to "Option" clicking on a color, while using the Brush tool, to set the foreground color. In CS6, it is updating the background color instead, even though the "Info" panel clearly says "Click to choose new foreground color" when I hold down the Option key. What setting am I missing?
Â
The foreground color is the active color in the color swatches.Manually selecting the Eyedropper tool and option-clicking, updates the foreground color. Simply clicking, updates the background color.
With the burn tool one can use it several ways. The direct way is to just click on the tool and select whether you want highlights, mid-tones, or shadows. Each option changes the burn shade slightly. Also there are a host of blend modes which again changes the burn shade.
Â
One can also create a burn layer and change blend modes, all with different effects. Then you can also use the brush tool and select color burn or color dodge, with the foreground color changing the shade of the burn.So all of these options give a great deal of control, but frankly I am just burned out on the process.
Â
All I want is to have the burn deepen the color to more closely match the color in the shadows of the picture. It seems to work better on flesh and soft colors than on bright colors. In those cases I give up and resort to a brush in normal mode with color selected by eyedropper. But that can make the image more muddy as it covers up rather than intensify.
Â
So wilh all the man-years of experience out there is there a more simple way to get the correct burn shade than going though 49 different variations? Or should I just stick with the brush and use a different blend mode?
as an alternative to using the magic wand to remove a color to transparency (which leaves fine detail, say in a line drawing, in a very sorry state) i saw someone use the multiply function in layer options to remove all white from a greyscale image leaving black lines over transparency. neat,
View 2 Replies View RelatedI saw a pic which was converted to Black n white except this one object in it.
For example: If you have a bunch on red roses.. only one amoung them is in color, everything else is black n white. Gives picture a unique look!
How can this be done in PS? I've just started using PS so please excuse if this is a stupid question.
how to do this chore. Worse, I know it must be so simple that its laughable. I haven't ever needed to do it though.
I have an image that is great [in my eyes] but in the middle of the image an area of tree foliage shows that is so tightly focused, it distracts. How do I selectively soften, fuzz, blur [likely] or what ever only that portion. I have fought this since Sept and haven't found an answer that feels right.
I'm trying to make a photo monochrome, but keep the person with the originial colors (so background is monochrome).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to apply a selective blur to a photograph. What I am doing is using the Polygonal Lasso and select around my item. Then I try to use the Ctl +I to invert, but when I do that, the image inside the lasso tool looks polorized. What I am trying to get. it using the Gaussian Blur to blur everything in the background and not the item that I have applied the lasso tool to, everything in the lasso should be clear and everything outside (the background) should be blured.
I am getting this tio from a book called "Retouching cookbook for digital photographers" and it is a simple tip, but it is not turning out.
Which type of the blending mode is supported by layers that use the Fill With Neutral Color option?
A. Normal
B. Dissolve
C. Luminosity
D. None of the above
is there a way to select which fonts show up in photoshop (without deleting them)? I want to keep as few as possible so I can find the ones I like quickly.
Now another thing I dont get is all the different font types. Type 1, 2, 3 TrueType, OpenType....
What's the difference between all of these, which should I be using, and how can I tell what my font types are?
When I try to run in selective startup mode with all my non-Windows startup item turned off, Photoshop (CS2) tells me I need to have administrator status, but I do. ? Can I run in selective startup mode or not? andIf so, there must be an Item that I need to turn on.....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to use the option to display the "object color" in shaded mode from time to time instead of the "material color". However this does not seem to do anything in MAX 2012.
View 2 Replies View Relatedso under edit pref and input controllers. I edited the scroll button of the mouse to have zoom in and out. works like a charm. Now, i have seleted to edit the ctrl+scroll up and down features to change brush size. Problem is, it works great right after i have selected the brush and type of tool i want, but as soon as i paint on the image and then hit the ctrl button, it now displays the another tool and i think its the color picker. I try to also scroll the mouse wheel and nothin.
I cant seem to find the option that is controlling the color picker or whatever that tool is to come up when the i hit ctrl. I even searched for color picker under keyboard shortcuts.
I want to save my PDFs as All Colors As Black, but setting the option to 0 or 1 doesn't work, it keeps saving the PDFs in color. Here's the snippet of
 If oPDFAddIn.HasSaveCopyAsOptions(oDataMedium, oContext, oOptions) Then
oOptions.Value("All_Color_As_Black") = True
oOptions.Value("Remove_Line_Weights") = False
oOptions.Value("Vector_Resolution") = 400
oOptions.Value("Sheet_Range") = Inventor.PrintRangeEnum.kPrintAllSheets
'oOptions.Value("Custom_Begin_Sheet") = 2
'oOptions.Value("Custom_End_Sheet") = 4
End If
What is wrong with the option in the second line (shown in red)? I've tried a few other variations of All_Color_As_Black, but I'm having no joy. All the other examples I've looked at either has that option set to False (0) or that line is commented out .
