I've just upgraded to CS5 from Elements, boy what a difference! I've hit a problem when I want to close the photos that I've edited. when I've processed them I want to save them as either TIFF or JPEG files.
I've been to File>Scripts>Image processor which allows me to convert the files and send them to a folder of my choice - albeit in a sub folder. But, and it's a big but, the original RAW files remain open, and have to be manually closed one by one. After a big shoot this will be PIA.
I've also looked at File>Automate>Batch. This will process my photos, but on every alternate one I get a message saying that the "Feather" function is not working, and that photo is not processed, so i only get 50% saved. In addition they can only be saved in the original folder so I finish up with both RAW and processed files. Then I have to do a tidy up exercise.
What can I do? The first option seems the best if there was some way in which the processed files could be closed. I've told to create an action, but it doesn't tell me how to do it. I'm also told that I can download some actions in addition to the default actions, but again I'm not told what these are, or where they can be found.
All I need is to close multiple files that I've worked on and converted to my chosen storage format.
I needed to join lines into a curve, and not being used to all the extra features of Corel over my old application.
I read of what seems to be a feature of closing different line segments, and it seems that Corel can join two different lines at their start and end point, and take on the characteristics of the first line selected and the help file displayed a pictures of what can be done. BUT I CAN'T DO THAT!
I am trying to do what is shown in the help file's "closing multiple line segments" right most image. Where two lines are closed with another and the new middle line is sort of shaped "in between" the two lines.
I included a file with a bitmap of the examples, and lines I traced for it, and what is happening when I try to join the curves with a bezier, both selecting both lines, and selecting start and end nodes.
If I have several drawings open at the same time and have done work to some of them, at the end of the day I just pick the AutoCAD application "close" button (the "X" in the top-right corner of the window) and I'm prompted "Save changes to <drawing>?" for each of the drawings.
Unfortunately, most of the times I do this in AC2011, AutoCAD crashes. The next time I open AutoCAD, it initiates the recover but all the changes have been saved in the *.dwg file.
I know this is not the best way to save and close drawings but it has never been a problem.
In preparing photos imported from iphoto for a book, I've learned how to change the ppi and format, but when I try to move on I find I don't know how to save and close out of editing a photo. The photos either have red "edit in progress" bands, or multiple copies, or both.
Closing Photoshop CC seems to deletes all my files in and only in the Documents folder. The exact steps of what I did can be viewed here: URL.....This only happens to Ps, any other Adobe softwares will not cause this. I am 100% sure that it is the closing event that causes the deletion. After reading URL.. I tried to turn off the antivirus, reinstall Ps and creative cloud, but nothing worked for me. I also tried both 32 bit and 64 bit version, but both produced the same problem. This problem only comes up in Windows 8.1 and not Windows 8.
it is to change the folder name, but then I have to change the settings for other softwares which uses that folders and this is just stupid, I want a more robust solution and the cause. The only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling the OS.
My PC info: OS: Windows 8.1 Pro (64 bit) Processor: Intel i5-4430 3.0GHz RAM: 1600MHz 8GB (dual-channel) HDD: 120GB SSD GPU: GTX 660
I am no expert in AutoCAD Map3D, but as a IT Technician, I am responsable for installing and configuring the application.
I just did an upgrade from AutoCADMap3D 2012 -->2013. For the two users that I did the installation, they have been getting this error "Exception in command ARX covsrvechelle19.arx" screenshot attached.
The dxf file they are trying to access is on the network drive. With Map3D2012 they have never experienced this problem. I installed AutoCAD SP1 but the problem still persisted.
Why can't files opened from AI CC created in AI CS4 be reopened after closing the window?–They reopen only if you quit and relaunch AI CC. Why can't anything be copied or pasted from keyboard commands or drop down menu open in AI CC? Why can't a new window be created in AI CC–only receive error code ID-1(Can't create a new illustration. Problems occurred while saving the print file.).
I am trying to batch plot to PDF's from a drawing file that has multiple tabs in it. I would like each tab to be a separate PDF file. We are utilizing Acrobat X to write the PDF's. AutoCAD places all of the tabs into one file whether I tell a Multi-sheet file or a Single-sheet file.
I'm trying to find a way to plot multiple (over a thousand) DWG files to PDF without doing each one manually. I've played around a little bit but without any luck. I'm using AutoCAD 2002 LT. Is there any way to do this?
I've also got little to no experience with the more complex settings and abilities of autocad so do so in laymans terms.
2002 lt has no general publish (only publish to web) option and how sheet sets work.
I have some photos that I need to partially rename. Example > Currently they are named ABC_0001, ABC_0002, ABC_0003, etc. I only want to change the first part of the name. So I need the names to DEF_0001, DEF_0002, etc. It important not to change the numbers. The PS Elements Editor "rename multiple files" gives me a lot of options to rename them but it seems there is not a way to leave the numbers in the file names intact while just changing the first few letters.
I have literally HUNDREDS of pictures that I want to put up. (There are a *LOT* more than what's up there now) I have to perform the exact same basic operation on all of them and I'm getting repetetive stress disorder.
The pictures are all extremely high quality so I obviously need to reduce it before I put it up. I take each picture file, reduce the width to 600, height to 450. Go to blending options, add a small bevel/emboss then save it as a medium-high quality jpg in a new directory with the same filename. (keeping the original high quality pic obviously) I then resize it to 200 pixels wide and save is as the same filename plus _t at the end to create the thumbnail picture.
Extremely basic stuff, but I have to do it over and over and over. Is there *any* possible way using photoshop and/or any other program or any combination of programs so I can automate it?
edit: On a side note I'm planning to re-do the entire site in php now that I've got a real host. (*note* the dns hasn't propogated yet thus the strange url) I want to make it so people can submit comments to all the pictures.
I have 100 files by the name of happy.jpg stored in 100 different folders, and I want to open all of them together at one go instead of individually going into each folder and opening them one by one,
try to open another file and it'd automatically stop working. I.E. I would get the "Photoshop has stopped working" message. This happens with any file and any file format. I can never have more than one file open.
This is a HUGE problem for me--I'm a graphic designer and it's almost impossible to work with Photoshop this way for the rest of my career. I lost my CS3 installation discs when I moved and I don't want to have to buy a new license...
I've seen one thing in all the Photoshop versions and it really annoys me: if I open more than one file (e.g. 10 files), then in the Window list of the files the first one is always the last file in the selecting order. E.g., if I open files i001.jpg....i010.jpg, then PS lists them in order i010.jpg, i001.jpg, i002.jpg ... i009.jpg.
This makes it really unconfortable to edit multiple files in row and I have to do this all the time. Problem is that I need to process files from camera and then save them in order. One mistake could mean a lot of time later reordering items. Any fix or workaround? Currently I open n+1 files and then close the last one in order to get the listing in correct order.
I'd like to apply my company's emblem (saved as jpg or psd) onto about 100 photos as a watermark.
I'm needing to do some Contact Sheets, is there a quick process to click to do this?
I don't particularly want to Batch Action each photo as the watermark will only appear on the contact sheet, I don't wish to create a whole new set of images if i can help it.
How can I save slices (referring to the lines and the dimensions - NOT the cut out images) from one PSD and import them into another PSD?
I have 2 files (and will have more) with the same dimensions but similar artwork. I have created the slices in the first doc (master) and I want to bring all the slices (lines) over to the new file. I have seen other posts where you copy the layers from the second file into the master PSD (using SHIFT)
You could do this in CS5, but it doesn't seem possible in CS6. It's a bit clunky when dragging from one file to another in the tab mode. I liked having the workspace open side by side.
I used to highlight multiple raw files in Bridge and just press Enter (being the equivalent to File -> Open) and the images would all open together in one ACR interface with the filmstrip down the side. Now, however, one file opens and if I hit cancel or done, the second image THEN opens, and so on and so forth. If instead of pressing Enter I choose File -> Open in Camera Raw or I right-click and Open in Camera Raw, it works fine and does what I want (or if I click the aperture symbol on the toolbar at the top).
The worst part is that it worked fine until I uninstalled CS5.1. I had CS5.1 no problem, then installed CS6/CC alongside it. I got eveything working how I wanted in CS6/CC and then uninstalled CS5.1. I may be wrong on the exact timing of the problem and therefore it may be a Red Herring, but it seems fairly close together when this started.
Notes: There is no expansion bar on the left of ACR that is just hiding the filmstrip. Which is consistant with the fact that the second image does in fact open after I close the first. So they are clearly being treated as seperate open actions. Also, in Bridge, Edit -> Preferences -> General: 'Double-click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge', ticked or unticked makes no difference. Also in Photoshop, Edit - Preferences -> File Handling: 'Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Supported Raw Files', ticked or unticked makes no difference.
I have also tried changing the above mentioned options, closing PS and Bridge so the preferences file is updates, changing them back to how I want and closing so the preferences file is updated and I get the same results.
I'd like to use the same Smart Object in multiple files and, if I make a chnage to the S.O. in one file, have it update in all files in which it is used. Is this possible?
I have over 600 images of trees. What I need to do is figure out the dimensions of each tree's crown (not the trunk, so select all the foliage and record the dimensions. Is there a way to automate the process so that I don't have to manually mask it or select it for each of the 600+ files or is it something I have to do manually?
I have over 2,000 different size psd files, both portrait and landscape, that need to be formatted in 3 main ways.I am looking for some automator or photoshop actions way to do this to save hours and hours and hours of work.
The first step is that each image needs to be proportionally placed into its own tile that is 1110 X 1050. (Each file should keep its original name) Do the images need to be flattened before this is done? Can this be done with photshop actions and/or automator to save time doing it manually?
The second and third steps are to convert the image to a png and to also create the following file sizes/names
185x175 called "title".png, 370x350 called "title"@2x.png, 555x525 called "title"-ipad.png, 1110x1050 called "title"-ipad@2x.png
My system is Mac OS X version 10.6.8 Photoshop CS5 version 12.0.4
I'm using PS CS 3 Extended and whenever I try to open multiple files/images (either by dragging/dropping, using the bridge or just using the Open dialog) it really takes a long time, because photoshop seems to want to "check" every image behind the one it just imported. Let's say I'm importing 40 pictures for editing into Photoshop and I'm upto image 30; then it checks every image behind that (29, 28, 27, 26 etc.), slowing the process down conciderably.
In previous versions of Photoshop, I used to be able to import multiple files and they would load up relatively quick, and it wouldn't do this "checking" of files behind the last file imported.
Is there any way to turn this "checking" off so the import process will be faster?
I have a video clip that I broke down into single frames so I could work with them in Photoshop, then import them back into Premiere.
I opened one of the images and applied some filters.
Is there any way I can save the settings of the filters of this image so I can just open up the next image and not have to manually re set the filter settings for each individual image?
Or, is there a way, in Bridge or something, that I can apply all the filters used on one image to a whole bunch of images at the same time? (I'd hate to apply filters to 1000+ individual images)
I have finished scanning a number of old family photos and have used Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 (PSE9) to “tag” and add “captions” to each photo. The photos vary in size and are saved in tif format. All of the work I have done so far was using the Organizer in PSE9.
When using the slideshow function of PSE9, I can view the photos and see the caption written over the bottom of the photos. Using other software to view the photos does not show the captions.
I have gone to the Edit screen of PSE9 and under File there is Process Multiple Files. Clicking that I have selected the options in the Labels section to add a caption, checked description, default font, 75 Opacity, default color. Having processed the multiple files, I thought when opening the processed photos I would see the caption I entered in the Organizer along the bottom of the photos. However, the caption does not appear when I view the photos. Am I misunderstanding something here? Would the captions only appear if I print the photo?
