Photoshop :: CS4 Extended Run Only As Administrator...
Mar 10, 2009
I did silent install for cs4 extended, went nicely.
Program itself starts nicely, but if I try to open a file or create a new file, cs4 crashes. This happens if I'm logged as user.
IF I start cs4 as administrator (or via "run as administrator"), program works ok.
Already updated drivers and updates cs4 to 11.01...
I recently installed Photoshop CS for a user. After installing, I ran the program without issue. When the user logged in and tried to run it the following error was displayed: Â Â Â Â "Current user account does not have privileges to perform product activiation. Run this application from a user account with administrative priveleges or contact your system administrator." We do not allow any users to run as administrators at the company I work for. We are willing to elevate permissions for users if a program references files that standard users do not typically have access to. We attempted giving full control to the Photoshop folder but that did not work. Has anyone run into this error and found where the permissions need to be changed?
I've seen several similar threads with problems with Bridge, nothing recent with run issues with Photoshop CS6. I have installed most of the programs downloaded from the Cloud. Most run. So far, I've found Bridge, Encore and Indesign encounter a "Problem" upon opening and close with no further message or details. Dreamwever, Flash, Illustrator and Premiere run as far as I've tested. Â From my user account Photoshop CS6 brings up a message about a locked scratch file and cannot run. I can start PS CS6 using Run As Admin and everything seems to run fine. Changing permissions on discs and on my user account still has PSÂ CS6 fail to start. I've read similar posts on earlier releases. I have tried purging the preferences, both manually and using the crtl+shift+alt start. I still cannot get PS CS6 to run from my user account. Â FWIW Gigabyte MB, w/ i72600k Windows7 64bit SSD for C: standard disk for user accounts standard disks for scratch and file storage (each its own disk) Â I tried the uninstall / reinstall game without any change.
I try a 3th time.Photoshop CC will only print as administrator. If I start Photoshop CC as standard user, It will not print. I got a message which in translations is litke this.Error then printer opens. Printing can not work before You have choice a printer and open the document again."
I have had a problem with the Nik Software Silver Efex Pro (SEP) plugin running extremely slowly, but only at certain times. It's been pretty good for the past few months, but it suddenly took a nose-dive a few days ago. It takes ages to load the presets and to process the image in Photoshop once I have made my selections in SEP. I just thought that as SEP is a direct plugin to CS6 Photoshop then perhaps it's something to do with the way Photoshop itself runs. I switched the running of Photoshop to 'Run as administrator' (just right click the program in the start menu and go to compatibility tab) and SEP now runs extremely fast. why running as Admin should make such a difference? Are there any problems in running in Admin mode? Â I run Norton Internet Security, and thought that as I'm now OK in Admin mode it might be a virus-checker problem, and running in Admin mode was getting around the problem. I do have both versions of Photoshop (32 and 64 bit) included to 'allow' access in Norton. Here is my system config. My PC runs very well in all other respects. Â System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 6/27/2012, 17:44:57 Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120503-2030) System Manufacturer: Acer System Model: Aspire M5811 BIOS: Default System BIOS [code]..
Everything worked so well in CS5 Extended......  Windows 7 Pro 64 bit - MSI 990FXA-GD80 Motherboard - AMD Phenom II X6 1100T CPU - nVideo GTX550ti Video  I have CS6 running on an SSD. Initially with CS6 Beta I found I had to run as Administrator. I eventually discovered how to run as a user by going into Preferences / Performance and setting my scratch disk to my hard drive.  now I have the CS6 release. I deleted CS6 Beta as instructed and followed directions for the install. CS6 works fine except for the bugs that I reported in the beta forum . My problem is now that Bridge insists on running as Administrator. If I try and run it as a user, it comes up and quits immediately. It doesn't make a wisp of difference where I set my Cache file, SSD or hard drive. I can even deal with that, however now I can't start Bridge from Photoshop! I click on File / Browse in Bridge and nothing happens. If I start Bridge then go to Photoshop and click on File / Browse in Bridge, still nothing happens. I have to manually switch to the Bridge window.
I'm logged in as local administrator to Windows 7 64bit OS and everytime I tried to install CS5.5 Master I kept getting this message, "Administrator privilege are required to install" I can install any program but just not CS5.5.
I have a user who installed Map 3D 2011. We originally had some install issues, but a clean install and update to .NET framework 4.0 has seemed to finally be able to allow us to install the software. During installation the AV software was deactivated. User has full admin rights. Now when he double clicks the icon to launch the software he's receiving an error dialog box that is titled "Exception in acmgd.dll ARX Command". The only way he can get it to run correctly is to right click on the icon and select "Run As Administrator".Â
Currently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly. Â I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL. Â I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions. Â So, what are my options? Â Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6? Â I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.
One of our domain users cannot access Autocad 2007LT as a domasin user in Windows 7. As soon as we make him temporary admin it allows him to use it. A pop up box appears asking far administration credentials before he can use autocad. We have tried giving read and write access to the autocad files that we think it links to but this has not worked.
We are using .cuix file which gives access to tools in custom .arx file in AutoCAD 2012/2013. We load the menu using the .bundle mechanism and the plug-in - using button from the menu. If the user is Administrator (or executes AutoCAD as Administrator)Â the menu, toolbars and ribbons are loaded correctly and the user can load and unload the application (lisp function in .mnl file is used for that), but if the user is not an administrator either the menu, toolbars and ribbons are not correctly loaded or they are loaded, but the user can not load the application.
We have found that a probable cause for this behaviour is that AutoCAD tries to create/renew the .mnr file when first loading a .cuix file and since the user has no administrator rights this can't be done in the "C:Program FilesAutodeskApplicationPlugins" folder where the bundle is and AutoCAD creates the .mnr file in its own support folder ("C:Users<User>AppDataRoamingAutodeskAutoCAD 2012R18.2...Support") together with a copy of the .cuix file and changes the path for loading the .cuix file to this location. Since the .mnl file containing the function for loading/unloading is not copied with the .cuix file the application can not be loaded.
The user has to delete the created files under the support path of AutoCAD, unload the .cuix file and then reload it from the correct location to resolve the problem. Restarting AutoCAD leads to the same problem.
Is there a way to prevent this behavior other then running AutoCAD as administrator (that is not always an option)?
I'm happy with the NX version, but if I want to upgrade to XT, how do I do it? I looked on the upgrade options for XT and upgrading from NX, is not there.
I recently purchased a new computer and had my Photoshop CS3 extended activated in the new machine. I have successfully used the product for 5 years. Had to move to to new computers twice. This time was different. Now my S3 does not recognise my RAW images taken with Olympus E series cameras.
I have Photoshop CS2, and it's incompatible with Vista on my laptop. At this point I'm going to buy some version of Photoshop CS4. So here are my questions:
What's the difference between Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended? The extended version Student Edition is significantly cheaper.
Should I just buy the regular Photoshop CS4 Upgrade or is the student/education edition of Photoshop CS4 cheaper?
I recently downloaded the trial version of CS4 which only offered the option of trialling the Extended version NOT the basic version. Subsequent to that I have purchased CS4 and of course, as expected, CS4 Extended does not recognise the serial number. I had thought that by entering a valid serial number for CS4 that some of the features of the trial Extended version would be deactivated but this appears not to be the case. Does this mean I have to uninstall the Extended version and then install CS4 from the CD or will simply running and installing CS4 from the CD overwrite the Extended version?
If one is upgrading from CS3 there is a significant price difference between going to CS4 and CS4 Extended. If one does not work with video or 3D images are there any significant advantages to going to the Extended version?
I am unable to use the 3D category from the main menu in CS4 extended. The commands in that category are grayed out whatever I try. If I open a 2D image how do I convert it to 3D?
I'm going to buy the Extended version of Photoshop CS3 but wonder if I can install it over Photoshop CS3 or will I need to uninstall/deactivate CS3 then reinstall with the new CS3 Extended license#?
Initial issues with PS CS4 Extended Windows XP Pro.
CS3 worked just fine but had many issues with Bridge CS3.
1. Sometimes the file menu selections are non-selectable grey including fundamental functions like Open and Exit not even clicking on the x will allow PS to close! I found a workaround, I can select a tool that is not currently selected (like the crop or brush) and now the menu items appear.
2. The Arrange Documents drop down menu is blank except for the lower text portion. All icons are missing. Roll over text popup shows what is supposed to be on the menu but no icons.
3. I have setup Bridge CS4 to auto start at logon. Works OK but sometimes for whatever reason stays busy after I close. Task Manager shows Bridge using up to 25% of CPU time and the program is not even open!
5. I purchased a couple Canon EOS 50Ds as backup cameras for our business. Worked last week with CS3 and Bridge with Raw 4.6 upgrade. Does not work with RAW 5.0 in CS4bummer!
After loading the CS4 Extended version, the "Upgrade Check" defaults to CS3 Extended as my previous version. The problem is that I do not have and CS3 product installed on my system. I do, however, have CS2.
Of course, without the correct version for the upgrade checker to read, I am unable to get CS4 to accept and work beyond the 30 day trial period.
How do I get the upgrade checker to recognize CS2?
I install CS4, and it asks for my serial number before installation. I enter it in, it works (I get a little green check), and then I proceed to install the software.
So, it finishes installing. I then go to click on the CS4 icon. I get this box that pops up before PS comes up, that says "CS4 Extended".
Once CS4 actually comes up, I get a pop up box that says, "CS4 Extended - Trial Version", and it asks me if I want to keep using the trail, or put in my serial number. Obviously, I don't have a serial number for Extended. I purchased the regular CS4, where my serial number worked right before I installed.
But now, every time I click on my CS4 icon, it loads this CS4 Extended - Trial Version. I use the program under the Extended trial version....but I bought regular CS4, and again, my SN worked right before install. Why do I keep loading the CS4 Extended Trial?
I'm able to buy Photoshop CS4 Extended via the University I go to, but I would only use the photography features. Does Photoshop CS4 extended work the same way Photoshop CS4 does in that regard, but with just more advanced features for video etc?In other words, will Photoshop CS4 extended work the same was as Photoshop CS4 would with my photos?
I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended to make a set of small images for insertion in a MS Word document. I want the images to be 36 mm wide in the printed document. I use File > Image Size to make a file 340 px wide at a resolution of 240 px/inch, save as a tif, and it works correctly in Word. But if I save as jpg, with the same size settings, the file displays in the Word document at 90 mm wide. Â If I use Photoshop CS4 to make the jpg, this problem does not occur. The problem happens with Photoshop 13.0.1 x64 on Windows 7 (but not with Photoshop 11.0.2 on Windows XP).
