I am getting this popup error when trying to open a .gif file:
"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."
This comes up every time I try to open a .gif file. Even if I make a .gif file (like the image included in this post), save it and then try to open it again, I get the same error. I tried reinstalling CS4, but the error is still there. I have also done the reset on start-up and nothing. Some have suggested that I open it in (Windows XP Pro) MS Paint and then save it again. Did it and this does NOT work for me, either.

I am runing Vista Ultimate 64 bit with SP1 and whenever I use CS4 to read a .gif file Photoshop reports "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file".
I have un-installed CS4 and then re-installed again but I still get the same message. Can anyone please tell me what this means and perhaps help me to resolve the problem?

When I export my 3D-project (a coffee mug) from Cinema 4D (R11) as a .3ds file to PS CS5 Extended I get the following message: "The Photoshop 3D file format could not parse this file".The odd thing is that when I export and import a simple sphere it works. I believe that there is some kind of limitation involved?

Previously, I had been able to add .aco color palettes to GIMP and use them. But they are suddenly no longer in my palettes menu and I'm getting this error for each one I had added (and used before):
Fatal parse error in palette file 'C:UsersChristina.gimp-2.8palettesTransitional.aco': Missing magic header.

I recently bought some brushes for Photoshop, knowing I could use them on gimp, but I keep receiving this message:
Failed to load data:
Fatal parse error in brush file 'C:Program FilesGIMP 2sharegimp2.0rushesKyleMegapack.abr': unable to decode abr format version 14402.
I'm not sure what is wrong. My best guess is that the Photoshop version this was made for is not compatible with Gimp 2.8.10. The guy who made these brushes (Kyle T Webster) said that Photoshop CS5 or higher is required. The brush set was only $13, so I'm not really worried about the money, but is there any way I can use these brushes, or will I have to wait for a Gimp update or something?

I understand Photoshop CS3 can open Illustrator .ai files.
When inside Photoshop, file/open, select .ai file, I get the following message:
"Could not complete your request because the parser module cannot parse the file"
This presents a huge problem because I have original artwork I need to send to the printers, but cannot get into it! It was created by another company on our behalf.
I have downloaded and installed the Camera RAW 4.5 update and it hasn't helped, the error still occurs.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

As others have already reported, I'm also experiencing repeated crashes
when using CS4. This can happen at any time:
- when loading an image
- when creating or modifying a selection
- when editing the image
- ...
No obvious pattern detected. After the crash, when I relaunch PS, I
often (not always) get a message telling me that GPU acceleration/
OpenGL drawing has been disabled. However, I also had crashes with
OpenGL drawing disabled.
I'm using a Windows XP Pro SP3, a GeForce 6600 GT with the latest driver
(version 178.24, October 15, 2008) and the motherboard is an ASUS
A8N-SLI Premium running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ with 3GB of
RAM.
I recently made some changes to the NVidia settings and had no crash
since then:
- Use my advanced 3D image settings
- Anisotropic filtering 16x
- Anti aliasing : 8xS
- Conformant texture clamp: Off
- Error reporting: Off
- Extension limit: Off (if you set this to On, PS crashes and disables
OpenGL drawing)
- Force MipMaps: None
- Maximum pre-rendered frames: 0
- Single display performance mode
- Texture filtering settings: Off with exception of 2
- Negative LOD Bias : Clamp
- Quality: High quality
- Threaded optimization: On
- Triple buffering: On
- Vertical Sync: Force On (also On in PS as well as "Force Bilinear
Interpolation" and "Advanced Drawing")

I am doing simple extrusions in 3D. One or 2 extrusions in a document. Specifically, earrings. I have to save every few steps , because PS is going to crash at least once per hour.
My computer has 12GB RAM, and a 1GB GPU. My MAC is less than a year old. It should be able to handle the workload.
When I'm doing 3D I shut down all other programs on my computer.
I have turned up all the preferences inside PS pertaining to performance.
When I save a document the SAVE time is 3-7 seconds. Each time I hold my breath that it doesn't fail.

The sliders are nearly useless for me as I typically use pens and brushsizes of 1,5, 10 and 20. I need to change the size regularly and thesliders would be ideal yet my 'working' range is in a tiny little bit atthe end of the slider value.
It would be a huge gain for me to some how set the max slider value to avalue of my choice (say 50) rather than the current value of 1000
Is it possible? If not can I make a feature request (and if so how)

When I try to copy the below equation from notepad into a sketch dimension:
m_h*x4/(m_l^2)*(2*m_l - x4/NACA_c) + (m_t*NACA_c/.2*(.2969*sqrt(x4/NACA_c)-.1260*(x4/NACA_c)-.3516*(x4/NACA_c)^2+.2843*(x4/NACA_c)^3-.1015*(x4/NACA_c)^4))*cos(atan(m_h/(m_l^2)*(2*m_l - x4/NACA_c) + m_h*t/(m_l^2)*(-1/NACA_c)))
Inventor interprets it as:
m_h * x4 / ( (m_l) ^ 2 ul ) * ( 2 ul * m_l - x4 / NACA_c ) + ( m_t * NACA_c / 0.2 ul * ( 0.2969 ul * sqrt(x4 / NACA_c) - 0.1260 ul * ( x4 / NACA_c ) - (0.3516 ul * ( x4 / NACA_c )) ^ 2 ul + (0.2843 ul * ( x4 / NACA_c )) ^ 3 ul - (0.1015 ul * ( x4 / NACA_c )) ^ 4 ul ) ) * cos(atan(m_h / ( (m_l) ^ 2 ul ) * ( 2 ul * m_l - x4 / NACA_c ) + m_h * t / ( (m_l) ^ 2 ul ) * ( -1 ul / NACA_c )))
NOTICE THE EXPONENT TERMS, ex:
(x4/NACA_c)^3 vs. (0.2843 ul * ( x4 / NACA_c )) ^ 3 ul
Note, when copying into the sketch equation curve this error does not happen.

I'm taking over the development of some Autodesk addins that are used to parse a drawing to bring back text from the drawing, namely title block and bill of materials information. I have another process that runs and reads the meta data for the drawing itself that gets run from Vault before checking in the drawing. I need to know if I can combine these two processes such that I can parse the drawing outside of AutoCad. Is this possible?

When I first installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 I was unable to run Photoshop or Bridge CS6. Photoshop would give me an error about "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked. If I ran either of these programs as an administrator they would run without issue, this led me to believe that there was a permission issue somewhere. After some digging I found out the both Bridge and Photoshop try to create a temp file (similiar to Photoshop Temp2777223910092) on the c: drive of the computer. In my case the user that I was logged in with did not have access to write to the root of the C: drive. Note that you run the program as the administrator and change the scratch disk location as that changes the preference for the administrator user and not the user that you are currently logged in as.
I first had to give the user that I was logged on with write permissions to the root of the C: drive. Next try and run Photoshop, you will get an error another error about the scratch disk and about and invalid or missing setting file. To correct this you need to have run Photoshop as an administrator, next you can go to Users AdminAppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings and copy Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs and/or Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs to Users<your logged in username>AppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6.Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings.
