Photoshop :: All Color Picker-related Processes Malfunctioning?
Jan 29, 2013The following processes: Fill, Stroke, Text Coloring (highlighted selections from chromatic palette), Mask Layer coloring, etc. are all failing unaccountably. When Menu-selecting Fill or Stroke, or when clicking the color wells to access the Color Picker (for text, mask-layer color, etc.) I do NOT get the usual Color Picker window. Instead, the icon instantly changes to the eyedropper (and sometimes the color sampler) icon, all menu options are greyed out, and all attempts to select another tool or do anything at all result in that awful 'doonk! doonk!' sound. I learned, (after a horrible 24hrs of even reformatting my computer to cure PShop) that at least the freeze can be broken by hitting 'Enter', and sometimes only after hitting it many, many times. The command in question then executes without new editing, and is usually useless. I have realized that all of these: Fill, Stroke, Mask/Text color, ALL involve the Color Picker, to which I seem to have been denied access. That last time 2 years ago it involved the Hue/Sat sliderwindow, but at least that seems to be working fine.
To compound and complicate the problem: Duplicate and Print Preview are also failing to offer any kind of editing window before I must inevitably just hit 'Enter' many, many times before the process is executed to whatever settings were last recorded before this problem, and of course, it is useless to me. I can't even resize images on the page before printing them anymore and they end up just zoomed and cropped.

Mar 20, 2013I reset Photoshop's preferences and the specific tool and all tools twice to no effect. Shift works fine to select for a perfect circle or rectangle the option tool is just not working to select from the center.

Jan 6, 2013I have a question regarding illustrator. Let's say I have a circle with blue fill and red stroke. And I place an image in the illustrator file. Now I want to change the red stroke of my circle to let's say a purple color by sampling the color from the image.
How can I achieve that with a eye dropper tool? Every time when I try to sample a color from the image, the whole circle will change to purple instead of just the stroke? I have tried multiple key combination, shift, alt, ctrl but they all don't work.

If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.

May 1, 2013I'm having in CS6..I have a text block with a couple of styles in it (headings have one look, body copy has another). Here and there, some words are on bold. When I select some bold words and change the color of them, some other bold words in some other paragraph also change color. Not all bold words... just some. The behavior is unpredictable, so the exact words that get changed will vary, but once it starts to happen it won't stop. When I try to manually fix the other words (hopefully I noticed them before my client!) and change them back to black, sometimes that change reverses the color on the original words too. Sometimes not; it's like the effect is sometimes two-way and sometimes one-way. It becomes a real logic puzzle sometimes, a maddening game where every change affects something else and you can't find the combination of actions that will do the simple thing you want.
I haven't noticed it happening with non-bold text, but that could just be coincidence.
When this happens, the only fix seems to be to rebuild the text from scratch in a new text box. (Copying it all and re-pasting it does not seem to work—unless possibly I paste into a different document entirely.)

Aug 10, 2013I have a 2004 Pontiac GTO that is getting painted soon. I've decided to go with a matte (no gloss) paint finish, but having trouble deciding between white and grey.
How to use the following images to represent what the matte grey and matte white might look like on my car.
This one is the most important example image because it is starting out with a black exterior and red interior like my car now.
Other than changing the color it might be nice to have the wing erased (removing mine before paint and leaving it off) and the wheels changed to a true black instead of grey which is my plan, but most important is just the overall color.
My car should end up looking similar to this one, including the blacked out area on the front bumper.. so this image might be useful for examples too. It is already white with black wheels, just a gloss white instead of the matte I am planning.
I am also considering blacking out a portion of the trunk area, so it would be awesome to see this photo also done with the matte grey and white to see how that would look. Also the wing could be erased, but not sure how easy that would be with this view of the car..
