Photoshop :: CS2 ACR Vs Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP)
May 22, 2006
I have a problem when viewing my RAW pictures taken from my Canon EOS 20D looking different when comparing them to PhotoShop CS2 and the Canon Digital Photo Professional 1.6.1.0 software that came with the camera. The colors in the Canon software are definitely better than the Photoshop view. I even downloaded the latest edition of Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) version 3.4 from the Adobe website but I can only select ACR 2.4 when viewing them in Photoshop for some reason. I know I can manually set the settings in ACR but am not having much luck getting the colors to match up with the Canon software. Too much red in the Photoshop ACR view. I want to do most of my editing in Photoshop but it is useless if the colors do no match what I print. PhotoShop help states the options to choose from under camera profile in ACR also depends on whether a camera raw has a profile embedded.
How does one get a RAW file in Photoshop CS2 to match the colors in Canon's Photo Professional 1.6.1.0 automatically and how does one get the ACR 3.4 option to appear in the camera profile setting in ACR?
Just as a pre-amble, I love LR and perform 90% of image processing with it (rest in PS). I use a Canon EOS 5D MKIII shooting in RAW, running LR5 on Win7. My monitor is properly calibrated. Â Every so often I view a RAW image with Canon DPP mostly to display the AF point. What I am noticing is that the DPP SW renders the image very different from LR and I tried every LR Profile. In my opinion the DPP rendering is sharper, with less noise and a more natural look. My latest example of the difference in image rendering is from images taken with the Canon 200-400 1.4 zoom lens. This difference in image rendering is after RAW import with no images editing on either application. I just wish there would be a LR profile that yields a similar quality image.
I have a G6 Canon digital camera that I primarily shoot JPG images with, and wanted to experiment with raw images.
I took about 15 RAW images the other day with this camera and tried to open up. I went to canon and downloaded their Zoombrowser 6.0, which I can view the RAW files, but it does not edit them. I'm looking for something similar to Adobe Camera raw to hopefully view and edit them.
opening the photo. I had to remove the photo for obvious reasons.
I have been receiving advertisements for Pixio Photo Maximizer Professional 3 which claim that photographs can be enlarged without loss of detail and that it is easy to remove people/objects from photographs. Â Are these functions available in CS5 and, if so, how do I access them?
red eye reduction on digital photo's. I've been selecting the red color and playing with a variety of color balances and fills but they still end up looking pretty demonic.
I have a new digital photo frame that displays images at 480 X 234. Is there any easy technique in Photoshop to crop images to this size (or close), without manually drawing a rectangular marquee and trying to guess at it's size? Is there any way to draw a 480 X 234 pixel rectangle and then position it over the photo, then crop to the rectangle? Any suggestions would be appreciated, since I have about 500 pictures that I want to put on a memory card for Christmas.
I've taken a photo of a display frame, and I need to align it perfectly horizontal in order to not crop off parts of the frame when editing out the background. I know how to move images back and forth with the crop tool, but it's not very precise, and I definitely don't want the frame in the image partly chopped off because I can't get it angled just right.
I would like to take a personal photo (like the one attached) against a solid off-white wall and then fill the background with a pattern (again, see the one attached). The idea is to have the digital pic look like it was taken against a professional background . . . how might i do this? I searched for the past 30 minutes and havent come up with an answer so i thought i'd post and see what you guys thought.
Ive right clicked on the said pics and normally with elements9 it would give me a number of places to which i could sent the chosen frame. But after purchasing elements 11 I am not getting the option to send them anywhere.Â
Trying to get an 8x10 print from a digital camera photo on a letter size paper. Reguardless of what we do, the print job only comes up to 8x6.5. How do we get an 8x10???
I looked at most of the editing software out there and they all seem to have the same type of format. The only thing I see different is more bells and whistles such as tools (that you probably will never use) and more plugins and the cost.
The Coreldraw Graphics Suite X5 is my first foray into this product since version 3 (way back when). PhotoPaint supports CR2 files.
Except that in my case it doesn't do so consistently. Files from my Canon 5D MkII occasionally open fine (just this evening, I started getting a problem withe these as well), but 7D files consistently crash the program and I have to exit.
I have SP3 installed.
This machine is a 6-month old 64-bit HP desktop (AMD multi-core processor) with 8 GB of RAM. Photoshop, Lightroom, Painter 12, and PSP X4 work without incident and open all supported files smoothly.
I have CDGSX4. I've been trying to edit some of my Canon Raw (CR2) files. However I get this purplish haze covering my images I think it has to do with the Raw File driver. I've noticed this with PSPX4 and also the trial version of CDGSX6.
Just installed Lightroom 4, more than 60000 images were imported. Many of them were duplicates, triplets and so on. I want to have a clean, unincombured library. Should I delete the 60000 images and reinstall the images from my photo digital cards or use the slow process of "X" out the unwanted images? I would like to start improving my images vs removing the unwanted images.
I am currently a graphic designer and use Adobe programs, but I am extremely interested in professional photo retouching. How/what/where do I need to do/learn/go to make this happen? I've seem some software that claims to do this, but it all looks a little shady to me. All help will be deeply appreciated...and if there is another forum that I can post to also, I'm all ears!
Has anyone found a supplier of professional backgrounds that can be used in conjunction with wedding photography images.?
I'm looking for pale soft images with no real pattern that can be used as a layer above a photograph to give that dreamy but slightly coloured look.
I believe there are suppliers that produce these backgrounds but can't find what I want by searching. See the background applied to the left page in pdf attached.
I've created my signature (for Lotus use) in Photoshop, in order to get the same pantone as my company's logo. My pblm is now I don't know how could I import my logo in CS2?
Is photoshop cs5 compatible with flash professional cs6? I don't want to purchase the new flash professional cs6 if it will not work with photoshop cs5.
I'm using Photoshop CS3 on an old Windows XP computer, which needs to be replaced soon.  Would like to run CS3 on a new Dell with Windows 7 Professional operating system. Dell says that Windows 7 prof. is "Windows XP Software compatible" if I download and use software called Windows XP Mode.
how I should prepare several photos for a professional printing lab. Photoshop is not entirely new to me, but there are still several concepts I am still mastering and or trying to fully comprehend.I am trying to create some poster-sized images of some co-workers to hang up around the workplace here. They will replace some older out-dated photos that we already have on the walls. The older, framed and mounted photos are right at 24"(W) x 36"(L). That size includes a thick black border around the actual photo. The actual photo measures approximately 15"(W) x 23"(L), for the portrait orientation.  What I am looking to do is get some new photos printed to the same specifications as 24" x 36". My question is, should I change the image size of the photos I took within Photoshop to match those specifications, or allow the lab to use their "Blow-Up" software?  I've used Lightroom 4 to crop, and make minor edits to my photos. how I should continue with my photos in Photoshop, in order to create the same black border around the photos as well as add a "Motivational Poster-Look" to a couple... All while not losing resolution when planning to print to such a large size.
My Sister wants to scan some ink drawings into an editor, color them and put some text on them. Then she wants to send the results to a professional printing company to print up cards.
Should we be doing this in Illustrator instead of Photoshop and in vector graphics? What file format should we use? What scanner?
I'm just starting out a professional fashion photographer and want to learn how the pro's retouch their work. I know the basics but where do I go from here?
I have scanned a transparency in professional mode with my Epson 2450 which comes in as a photoshop file. I cannot unlock the background layer in order to save as a jpg or whatever, or to add layer changes. Does anyone know what I should be doing in order to make this happen?
I have created several documents for printing. When I test printed them on a laserjet it came out perfect with all the fades fading to white and all the shadows having no defined edges but simply fading. When I recieved the proof from the Printing house it was horrid. all the fades and shadows had very defined edges and were no longer smooth (like when I test printed it myself).Â
I have been working with a client who has recently requested an un-flattened version of the work I have been doing for them. They have been impressed, and at times inquisitive with “How’d you do that?”.
I am contemplating responding in a diplomatic way that I must decline. A version with all layers available will show many of my methods (and tricks) I have developed over the years, and I should not have to divulge them to a client.
What type of text would look Professional for a business banner? Like I'm tring to start a business and i want to create the site for it.. but I haven't decided on how to make my banner or logo
