Photoshop :: CC / Selecting Single Paths Without Isolating?

Jul 17, 2013

If I have two vector shapes on top of one another, when I drag over both to select a few nodes from the top one, it selects both (this is now a 'feature'). I don't want this.

I know if I want to select only the top one now that I have to isolate the shape first, but this is terribly inneficient for the way I've been editing vector shapes for years now.

Is there any way to turn off multiple layer path selection and having to isolate anything? While the new feature can be nice at times, it's mostly more of a hinderence than a way out.

Illustrator Scripting :: Selecting Open Paths In CS6

Jul 10, 2012

I have created this script for selecting open paths in illustrator cs6 as the graffix plugin is not working under CS6.

Just save the following text in /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS6/Presets/en_US/Scripts/Select Open Paths.js

if (documents.length > 0 && activeDocument.pathItems.length > 0){
var allPaths = activeDocument.pathItems;
var allPathsCount = allPaths.length;
var openPathsAreLocked = false;

Illustrator :: Selecting Paths With Multiple Strokes?

Jan 13, 2013

What is the correct technique for selecting paths with multiple strokes of the same colours?

Select Same doesn’t seem to work properly since it only selects one of the stroke colours.

I have several paths with the same stroke colour makeup yet they don’t behave as if they have the same appearance, depending on which of a path’s several strokes is selected in the Appearance panel.

Illustrator :: Parallel Paths Which Look To Be Single A Path

Dec 11, 2013

I auto traced a piece of artwork (a large bunch of leaves) & the strokes are made up of 2 paths.

Is there a quick way to  reduce the paths to a single path

Or is it necessary to delete each leaf's secondary path manually

Is there something I should be doing differently when auto tracing.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Library Paths - Single User

Jan 21, 2013

I've got a Library setup called "Vendor CAD" and it's referenced in all my project templates and most existing project IPJ's.  I'm thinking of re-organizing my server and actually creating a CAD drive and moving all these files to an area protected from the non-CAD users.

Anyway, once I move the files, is there a way that I can batch change the existing IPJ's to refer to the new path?  There's about 70 or so files, so it's not monumental, but I'd really like to not do it manually if possible.

Also - please note, I'm a single user, so I'm not using vault at all.

GIMP :: Selecting Single Row Or Column (2013)

Apr 30, 2013

I've been using Gimp since 2.6 and had previously used PS CS2That version had the option to select a single orw or column (from the 'Select' menu).I rarely had the need for this, but I'm now working on a project that could use that feature, and Gimp doesn't seem to have it . . . I tried selecting it with the available selection tools, but I'm not having any success with a large image.If it matters, I'm running 2.8.4 on a Win7-64bit installation.

GIMP :: Selecting Just Single Line For Converting Into Path

Apr 11, 2012

Let's say you just have a simple black line in Gimp. You then use the color select tool to select it, and you plan on then converting that Selection into a single line Path.

From:

Into:

You select the line, but the Selection tool actually travels a loop around the line. So, when you turn that Selection into a Path, you do not have a single line, but you instead have a loop.

So my question is this: is there any mechanism for making your Selection in GIMP just a single line so that it can then be converted into a Path?

Originally, I was trying to achieve this in Inkscape (and started a thread about it in the Inkscape forum). However, it appears that, although other Vector Art programs can achieve this, Inkscape cannot. So I was thinking that I could instead use Paths in GIMP instead, but this is not possible because of the nature of Selections, as far as I can tell.

Here's an attempt to illustrate this request:

Illustrator :: Create Single Path To Type On Not Compound Path From Many Paths?

May 11, 2012

I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.

Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)

Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.

Photoshop :: Isolating Part Of Photo / Texture?

Apr 20, 2012

I have a photo (attached) and wish to do two things with it. I hope a) to emphasise both the earthenware texture of the vase and its wooden background to give the image some contrast and b), to recolour the brown fence in royal blue. I have tried to do this using the eyedropper tool and then Image | Adjustments | Replace colour, but because the vase itself is coloured in a shade of brown I find that in addition to blue replacing brown as the fence colour, it also replaces it as the colour of the vase.

So, I somehow need to 'lift' the vase from the image, then recolour the fence in isolation, and then put the vase back into the photo - but I am not sure how to do that.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Isolating Point Objects

Aug 22, 2013

I am in the process of setting up Civil 3D styles for survey and trying to overcome some challenges that are a great source of frusteration.  The key items I am trying to accomplish are as follows:

 Be able to isolate all points on a layer (sorted individually by descriptor key matching to V-NODE-XXXX) WITHOUT the use of point groups.  I see point groups as a very inefficient way to do this.  I want to be able to select Layiso, grab one point and have full display of all points on that node layer and start connecting the dots.Be able to control node layer display individually (ie. all topo points gray, found points green, control pink, etc)Setup a quick toggle to turn off display of all points and basic markers except those which have a symbol assigned to them and should be shown on the map.

I have everything working the way I want with the exception of being able to use layiso to display all points on a layer.  Currently my point label styles are set to layer 0 byblock which passes display to the point object.  I have created a layer called V-NODE-HIDE that I set as the layer for non-symbol markers and all point labels.  Point markers that are symbols that should be displayed on a map are put on their associated V-TOPO-XXX-SYMB layer.  When finished mapping I want to be able to type "PH" (Point Hide) and hide all point labels and basic markers by freezing V-NODE-HIDE.  The issue is that because point objects, labels and markers are on different layers, when I isolate a single point, everything disappears.

Is there a lisp routine that will extract all layers from sub-components of a Civil 3D object and add those layers to the isolate?  This would solve my issue and give me all of the functionality I am looking for.  I have seen several discussions along this line on the forums, but not a solution that fits my needs.  I am open for pretty much any suggestion other than I need to have a point group created for every single descriptor I have and have to move groups up and down the hierarchy to get the display I need.  It is just too inefficient.

I am having a problem with a delay in selecting an object and selecting a command.

When I select an object the pointer has at least a 3 second delay before it starts moving around normally again. It is the same with selecting a command. This has started to get tedious. It has worked fine in the past so I don't think it is a RAM/graphics card problem.

AutoCad 2D :: Isolating Layer (any Layer Other Than One That Contains Hidden Line Type)

Having issue with isolating a layer (any layer other than one that contains a hidden line type), and then having the hidden layer appear behind it when attempting to initiate a command?

Attached is an example. The first image shows my drawing with object layer isolated. But as soon as I enter some type of editing command (move, rotate, etc), in this case copy, my hidden layer appears (see second image).

In my LAYISO settings, I have it set to lock and fade, but it does not lock unless I manually set my hidden layer to lock in the layer coAttachment 37450Attachment 37451mmand.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Mouse Selecting / Not Selecting?

May 15, 2012

OK, today, or actually just this afternoon I've noticed it has become much harder to select items with the mouse.

Points, nodes, etc...anything where you'd typically hover the mouse over the item and it highlights for you to select it.

For example, lets say you want to project a point from another sketch, or select the center node of a line, etc.

Never really had an issue until this afternoon where now it seems I have to be right on top of the item and I cannot budge one bit or it won't select it. It is now taking me numerous attempts to select things like points (zooming in does not work, points scale accordingly).

Is there a setting somewhere? I can't seem to find such under Tools>Application Options and the like.
