View 1 Replies View RelatedWith the burn tool one can use it several ways. The direct way is to just click on the tool and select whether you want highlights, mid-tones, or shadows. Each option changes the burn shade slightly. Also there are a host of blend modes which again changes the burn shade.
One can also create a burn layer and change blend modes, all with different effects. Then you can also use the brush tool and select color burn or color dodge, with the foreground color changing the shade of the burn.So all of these options give a great deal of control, but frankly I am just burned out on the process.
All I want is to have the burn deepen the color to more closely match the color in the shadows of the picture. It seems to work better on flesh and soft colors than on bright colors. In those cases I give up and resort to a brush in normal mode with color selected by eyedropper. But that can make the image more muddy as it covers up rather than intensify.
So wilh all the man-years of experience out there is there a more simple way to get the correct burn shade than going though 49 different variations? Or should I just stick with the brush and use a different blend mode?
How do you get to dodge and burn in photos shop elements 11
Also when I used the spot healer I am left with a smudge after I try to erase unwanted parts of an image.
Why not add a tool to Paint.NET? I'm pretty sure this program's development is also based around creating a image editing and creation program to where everything is simplified greatly.
I do understand that you can easily do this type of stuff with the line tool and opacity settings but really it would be towards the convenience of users.
My dodge / burn tool lightens great.
Is there a button to get it to darken instead?
use of 'quality' and 'weight' under 'smooth stroke' in say dodge/burn tool. This option is available under some other tools too but I am not able to find the effect of these options even after scouring the net and could not find any difference after changing the default values.
Version GIMP 2.8.X from software centre of Ubuntu 13.04; no modifications, no extras.
could somebosdy please explain the diff. between linear dodge/color dodge and the linear burn/color burn settings of the brush tool?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running photoshop CS3 on a Mac OSX. I shoot Nikon and recently bought a D700. I have liked the bridge/photoshop combo but since the addition of my D700 it runs slower than... and it crashes endlessly. Yesterday it just stopped reading my RAW files from my 700 all together. (still reads my D80 files)
I tried reinstalling photoshop, updating, clearing my cache, trashing my plist, separating and deleting files but it is still running terrible and not reading all my files.
To add injury to insult Adobe won't talk to me without charging me 40 bucks because there is a newer version of photoshop out. I can't imagine paying $700.00 for a program and then not having tech support on it! Someone needs to knock Adobe off their corner of the market, that's just not right.
I'm using Photoshop CS2 and I'm learning how to use it. I'm taking a photography class and my instructor was telling us about the Burn and Dodge tools and showed us some techniques. I can't seem to get the burn and or dodge tool to work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI get to use Photoshop CS3 from time time and I recently found a problem:
I want to Color burn 2 Layers, yes I know how it should work but it does not.
I got 2 Gradients, one is somewhat red to white and the other one is grey and white mixed in a strange way (I'm just experimenting).
I got these two layers, and as soon as I create the Gray-White gradient, the whole painting is just like the Gradient and not the Color burnt with the other ones. So it ignores the mode "color burn" somehow.
My dodge and burn tools won´t show up on my toolbox. Can someone pls help me make them appear? I been watching video tutorials and somehow i made them disappear. Someone pls help me make them reappear. Oh and yeah, I´m using photoshop CS4.
