get the description of ASL-file. I would like to know it's structure: file-header, data-types...ASL-files are for layer styling. You can add bevel, shadow, glow, stroke, etc. to the layer and save the settings as a style preset, which then can be stored on a hard-drive as a ASL-file.
View 1 RepliesMy questions is how to prevent the following from happening. I created a layer style drop shadow in a .psd file with the below parameters.
I saved it as an .asl file that I could use later. When I loaded it into a different .psd file later that day some parameters stayed the same but the angle reverted back to 30 degrees from 120 degrees all on its own as shown below.
I just want to know how to keep layer style parameters I saved in an .asl file from reverting back to defaults when loaded in to a new .psd file.
My systems parameters are as follows:
Photoshop CS6 Extend Version 13.0 x64
Mac OSX 10.8.2 with 705.44 GB used out of 749.3 GB available
The only other software I am running is Safari web browser. This is my first time trying to save a layer style and use it in a different .psd file other than the one I created it in.
I have set up a table style to display the type of structure, top of casting, and invert in and out elevations. I have also added a column to display the depth (rim to sump height). When the structure is a headwall, no depth is needed; however, the table displays this data as "???". Is there a way to only show depths greater than zero within the table editor for rim to sump height?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm adjusting a photographic image and am using both a filter effect and a layer style in the same layer on a Smart Object. I want to separate the two effects into two layers, so one layer has the filter effect (Nik) and one layer has the layer style (Color Overlay) (with the goal of merging/rasterizing the Nik filter effect with the Smart Object but keeping the layer style unmerged). I can make two layers and move one effect without problem, but the visual result of each effect on a separate layer is quite different from having both effects in the same layer. The Blend Mode for all my layers is Normal. Within the Color Overlay panel, the blend mode is Linear Burn.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using a clipping mask on a layer. The base layer that the clipping mask is referencing has a layer effect applied (in this case an inner shadow). I want to make it so the layer effect is only applied to the base layer and NOT the clipped layers.
Below is an example of what I'm talking about. as you can see, layer 1 has the base layer's inner shadow applied to it. I want the inner shadow to be hidden by Layer 1, but the clipping mask to still apply.
how i edit them at the same time like it works with linking 2 layers?
or how i apply one layer style to multiple layers is also ok...
I double click a layer name to change it, it brings up layer style box instead.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have saved a mapinfo drawing with geographic info to a pdf. The layer structure in the PDF is what I expected and reflects the layer structure in mapinfo. When I open the pdf file in Illustrator howver I only get one layer.
Is there any way of keeping the pdf layer structure in illustrator?
I like the way a layer of mine looks with a layer style (color burn) applied to it. I want to rasterize or do something to the layer so that it looks that way when the layer style is normal, kinda of how when you have effects assigned to a layer and when you rasterize it the effects merge with the layer.
Obviously just rasterizing the layer isn't how to do it but its the closest thing I could think of, does anyone know what I could do here?
Is it possible to extend the roof covering layer over the top of the structure leaving the timbering recessed back, To show it where it extends over the bread board or guttering with out affecting the main structure of the roof. Also where a barge board is not required on a gable

When I clipping mask the map with a rectangle all of the map's subs layers merge into one layer. How do I make a clipping mask whilst preserving sub layer structure? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have organized my photos in elements organizer 10, using keyword tags and sub categories on my desktop. It works great, if I want to see all pictures associated with a particular keyword tag, I select it and all photos assoicated with that tag appear.
the problem is this, I want the same scenario to work on my laptop. I realize I can rebuild the structure on my laptop, but why take the considerable time to rebuild, if there is a file that contains the structure info and move it to my laptop.
We use C3D 2012 (metric only) - We are attempting to customize our list of structures for Sanitary Sewers. The structure list shows sizes we do not use and we would like to modify them. However, when we try to select the "Inner Diameter" it displays a list of sizes that we can not seem to modify or add to.
I have looked at some of the XML files to try and modify or add new sizes (example: AeccStructConcentricCylinder_Metric.xml) , but they do not seem to be recognized even after I restart the program.
Here is what the file looks like:

Looking for correct file(s) to edit so I can modify the LISTS that come up in the piping modules.
One good thing about null structures is the way they display in 3D. They cover that gap in the pipe segments. Can I steal that shape?
I am currently using a simple cylinder for water pipe "joints" and turning it off like most people do I think.
I added inner and outer glow and a drop shadow to an image. Now I want to keep only the glow and shadow parts but delete the rest of the image so it is transparent. Is there an easy way to do this?
Here is more detail about what I am trying to do if it helps. I want to make a team photo of video game characters I have trimmed out individually. When you mouse over them they highlight in the glow effect. I have done this by making background photo with the entire picture with all the characters already added.
Then I have CSS hover attributes that cover each character with another version that has the glow effect. I am not sure this is the best way but it works. My problem is the multiple png files add up quickly. If I could trim out all the detail and just keep the outline glow I think the file size would easily cut in half or more for each character.
Is it possible to apply a layer style to only part of a layer or hide part of the style?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded lightroom at the same time that I switched harddrives. Basically, I installed LR 5 on the new harddrive. Then I opened my LR4 catalogue on LR5 and had it do the "update" to the catalogue. Everything seemed to be working properly. However, this is the first time I have imported a memory card and it is really having problems.
I imported and had the files put into Pictures>Client Sessions>Weddings (and then wrote in the subfolder name). It shows in my finder that that is where the photos are. However, in Lightroom it is like creating a whole new section. For some reason it isn't "linking" to my current file structure. See the 2014 Mclennan-Reeser file. It is under "wedding" on my finder.
See how it is is like its own separate thing on my Lightroom (even though if you scroll down you will SEE the wedding folder. I have even tried to drag and drop it into "wedding" on LR... but it says it already exists OF COURSE IT DOES! I then tried to right click on 2014 McLennan and say "show parent folder", but it just creates a NEW "Wedding" folder in LR.
