I am trying to create a text design of 4 letters, and I want it to be 3d and look like it has been punched out of a rock, with cracks like a real rock.
In illustrator or photoshop?
So I thought of a cool way to promote myself. By taking a texture, a rock, road, dirt, something (probably dark and black in tones) and somehow 'chisel' my logo into it. The logo could be 3d, and maybe look as if it slammed into the ground/dirt/metal/rock, etc...
Anyone happen to know of a tutorial where I could learn some techniques?

I am working on a private cartoon project, designing the backgrounds. One of the scences is located in the desert. I really want to create a realistic stone, with depth (like you would in Photoshop with the smudge tool) but I dont really know how. I tried the following things so far:
1) Drawing the shadows ect by hand with the pentool (didnt bring me the results i wanted)
2) Trying to add a texture (same problem^^)
3) Trying the gradient mesh tool (It is just not doing what I want)
Any good way to create good looking cartoon rocks?
I seem to be having a problem with jagged text when trying to design a webpage in PS. I have the resolution set to 72dpi because it is only for the web. However I have noticed that any text I add seems very jagged. I have tried applying smooth, criss etc which seems to fix it a little bit but not as good as it should. One strange thing I did notice was that I had added a text banner to my page which was jagged. Then later on I added another one and it seemed perfect. Im not sure what I did to the second one to make it better than the first lot of text I added.

Is there any way to determine the limit of rock cut within 25 ft of the existing ground, the volume of rock cut, and show the limit of rock cut on my plan view?
I could drop the Existing Grade elevations by 25 feet, but then how would I create a separate Surface from the intersection of the lowered Existing Grade surface and the Top of Rock Surface?

So imagine that the background is a piece of cloth, if you placed you hand under the cloth the cloth would take on the impression of the hand. So the text would be poppin' out at the viewer from what would look like underneath the background. Something similar to this. I have seen it on other flyers and was just wondering how it is done.

I needed to design hebrew text so I just down loaded Illustrator cc. But I don't have the "middle eastern composer" in my illustrator. How can I get that? I looked illustrator instruction manual. It wasn't same as my illustrator cc. And feel so stressful now. How come adobe's manual is different than what I have.

Eventhough we use backgrounds with high resolutions, while printing in ID card machine, there are strokes in between. We couldn't get good output. What could i do.

I used to know how to do this two years ago and now i'm in a situation to where I have to KNOW this.
My question is how do I combine slices once i've made them throughout the layout?
I am playing around with a new (to me at least) PS plug-in called SiteGrinder. It's a web site building prgm. that helps novices like me design and build web pages via a PS plug-in.
I wanted to create the pinstripe look in the background of Adobe Lightroom.
How do I get that look?
I am looking for a couple of plugins that can help me add texture and draping effects to my clothing designs, which at the moment don't even look 2D. Am looking also for something that will help me design and implement patterns, such as checks with out having to copy and paste. The easier to use the better as I do not know Photoshop CS that well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I resize an image to a smaller size line and so on dont stay as sharp as they did from the original size....is there a way to prevent this?
Resizing up or down requires a remap of the pixels so there is almost always some interpolation and therefore softening.
But when resizing down you can improve the quality by picking you scale percentage carefully. If you scale to fifty percent, for instance, the interpolation can toss every other
pixel rather than interpreting inbetween them. I have had some improved results (I think)
by using this method. In theory scaling down 25 percent tosses every forth pixel... 75 percent, 3 of out of four. So you might try scaling to on of these first and then doing another scale from there. It may seem counterintuative to do two scale and get a better result but I had a job a few years back that required holding the sharpness of a grid when scaled down. Back then I tested this and it seems to work. But it has been too long and so I wouldn't bet the farm on this one.
The other option is to set the interpolation method to Nearest Neighbor. This method doesn't fade between pixels, it just replicates or tosses the existing ones. It will keep things like lines sharp.
I am trying to determine how to build a site that breaks out of the typical "tabled" layout. I've heard that CSS is good for layout, but not sure the tabless effect I am looking for requires CSS, or just good background design in Photoshop.
My experience is more with HTML sites, incorporating FLASH (made with SWiSH) elements, and PHP for database. I code everything by hand, no use of apps such as <HACK!> Frontpage.
I have designed a webpage using 1024*768. After output the design as html, the page does not display in the whole browser.(There are white space at the right side and the bottom of browser) My screen resolution is 1280*1024.
how to make the design of the page fits any browser with bigger resolution?

I have taken the same images and run them in PHotoshop and Bridge 4 and the pdfs produced by PS and Bridge looks 10 times shaper and clearer.
This gets complex becuase they are all formatted quite complexly for In Design, and it will take too much time to re-formatt them for Photoshop or Bridge. But she has no idea why they are not coming out sharp and nice with In Design.
It's not compression.
She has been outputting with no compression from In Design and they still look subpar.
