View 4 RepliesUsing RAM Disk to speed up performance in Paintshop Pro? I like what I've seen so far except the program seems very slow. I have 32GB of RAM and have created a RAM Disk. I can manually copy images to the RAM disk, then work on them, then save them to the hard disk when done. Is there a way to make this automatic. I've set my temporary files to the RAM - trust this does not mess things up for Paintshop as those files disappear when I shut off the computer - but ain't that the intent of "temp" files. I'm going to try to set the Cache to this RAM as well.
Tried going to preferences and enabling the Scratch to my RAM disk (R:) but would not let me do that.
This document has been damaged by a disk error. The most likely causes of this error are: a defective disk drive, a defective disk drive cable, or incorrect peripheral cable termination. Some of the pixels in this document may be invalid.

Also where is that Corel uninstall tool as I can't get this mess uninstalled.
I have PSP x3 on my computer, it uses over 1 gig of space on my hard drive. I just installed PSPx4 on my computer and it only uses a little less than 400 megabites. Is this correct, or is something not right here. Also did they replace Express Lab with Adjust?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2nd hard drive that is connected to the mobo as I use it as an "external" drive. Most of the time, I don't need to access or use the 2nd hard drive as its a backup drive so it will go into standby or shutoff automatically when not in use.
But everytime i turn on corel PSP program, it turns on my 2nd hard drive. I can hear the drive booting up and spinning. It's really annoying cuz I don't want to keep having it turned on everytime I open my psp program. I'm not using psp to access any files from my 2nd hard drive either. It must be some sort of configuration setting that makes psp activate my 2nd hard drive everytime i open it.
Can I do this so that I can store my RAW photos in an external drive?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed PSP X5.
Problem 1. When I open the program and go to Manage, the files on my hard drive are listed. When I click on one of the folders the program stops responding and I must end it with Task Manager.
Problem 2. None of the files on my external hard drives are listed. When I add thaose folders to the Navigation window the message "No files found" appears in the Organizer.
When I double click on a file in Windows Explorer it opens in PSP as it should. The program is useless as it is. How to proceed?
I have reinstalled 2X
I have deleted all temp files.
I have lots of space on my hard drive

I am just trying to identify and select a group of photos which I can then copy to an external USB drive to have prints made. I know how to identify and select the photos. I have been unable to figure out an easy way to copy all of the selected photos to an external drive.
I can use 'Save As' to copy individual photos, but have been unable to figure out how to simply create a 'tag' and then copy all of the tagged photos to the drive. I can also copy all of the photos to a Media Tray, but cannot figure out how to work with a group of photos rather than just an individual photo.
I created a folder on my flash drive. I'm trying to use Batch Process to copy the files to the drive. I'm not adding a script. The name of the new folder comes up in the dialogue box, but when I click on the start button I get a notice that the file already exits and do I want to overwrite it. I click on yes. All the photos are then copied, but when I go to the new folder in my flash drive it's empty.
I'm following the instructions in Diane Koers book on PSP X4.
Also, I can't seem to use Batch Process to save my JPEGs and TIFFs. Is it possible to do this.
From what I've read, the scratch disk in Photoshop is there so that if you become low on RAM, it will move data from the RAM to the allocated scratch disk...so why bother making that scratch disk the RAM when it'll just be going from the RAM...to the RAM?
View 5 Replies View RelatedRunning a recently installed (5-6 days ago) 2.8.4 version of gimp. When I go to open a photo for editing, the program opens an error message window that says:
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into the drive \Device\Harddisk3\DR3
I have the option to cancel, try again or continue. All three options give me an "error sound" and the message window flashes at me. Only after I've forced gimp to close by right clicking the tab on the bottom tool bar...can I get the error window to go away. But it also has to be forced by the same method and not by using cancel or even the "X" in the upper right corner. I've used an older version of Gimp (on a different machine) for the last year; not to mention I used this version for a couple of days before this message started popping up. I work from/save all my photos to a flash drive, so I'm not exactly sure why the program keeps looking for disk.
I've purchased a Windows 7 PC with 16 MB RAM, 2 terabytes and a 250 GB SSD. I'm going to load Photoshop on the SSD and the OS on the hard drive. Where should the scratch disk go?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to use a network drive as a scratch disk? I have very little space left on my only internal drive and don't want to have to purchase a drive just to connect to my PC for a couple projects.

Just wondering is it OK to use a External USB 3 500 GB Hard Drive as Scratch Disk. I have USB 3 ports on my PC and have internal hard drive also, but would it be OK to use the external drive as a scratch disk

I have Dreamweaver CS3, Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3, and Flash CS3 installed on it. I run all these programs at same time and now my hdd is about to go. This is going to be the first one on this system but on my previous system, I had to replace my hdd 3 times before I just changed systems. I have photoshop CS3 on my laptop (Vista Premium, 2GB ram). There is only one hard drive in the laptop. It is already partitioned into three - C drive: windows + programs, S drive: system files, X drive: recovery.
My question is do I keep my scratch drive on the C drive or can/should I partition an external hard drive (250GB) and put my photoshop scratch disk on there? The external drive is via USB.
After doing everything i can find to optimize my hardware/software for doing 3D animation in Ps Ext CS6. I still cannot render an animation to video using the Ray Traced Final setting. (Ray Traced Draft, no problem.) The last time I tried (after repairing disk permissions), at least Ps did not crash and give me the same old crash report (Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000007a0020000). This time I just got an error msg that my request could not be completed. (Progress?) Checking Activity Monitor, I could see that my available RAM, which was 13 GB when I started the render was now less than 1 GB (761 MB).
So, I have come to the conclusion that my 16 GB of RAM and 300 GB available for virtual memory on my HD is not enough for rendering the type of 3D animation I am trying to do. Would you agree? Also, I have read it is not good to use the same HD your program is installed on for a scratch disk, so I am considering getting an external solid state drive to use as a scratch disk.
I've been using Photoshop since 1998 but my HDD recently suffered a complete failure and I've had to change the drive. Unfortunately, I don't have my original Photoshop disk, only a CS2 and CS5 upgrade disk (with both serial numbers).

Even if I choose another internal drive and set it as the number one option for PS6 it will not launch. My boot drive is only a 120GB SSD so I don't want to use it as the main scratch disk.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to an SSD on my MBP, I bought a caddy and swapped out the optical drive for the original HDD internally. Now, I was hoping to move the scratch disk from the SSD to the original HDD, but the HDD doesn't even show up as an option in the Photoshop preferences. The drive is easily accessible anywhere else, and even accessible through the open/save/etc. menus within Photoshop, so OS X and Photoshop both know the drive is there, but Photoshop just isn't showing it as an option within the Scratch Disk options setting.

Though PSP no longer supports Animation Shop, up until PSP X4, the user has been able to export frames back to PSP from Animation Shop. Now, this no longer works! There's still some communication there, because an error message - which, incidentally, makes absolutely no sense at all - is generated in PSP X4:

I can only run a "clean" install from my OEM disk which means reloading all applications. I was wondering if I should give up and install Windows 7.
What has been your experience with Windows 7/ Did you do a "clean" install or just the update.
My program worked just great, then all of a sudden the paint brush and eraser will not do a thing.
