Apr 11, 2009I had already purchased CS4 (not extended), but did not have the install disk yet. Yesterday, I got my install disk. When I try to install CS4 it fails, even after I removed the extended version. When I follow the steps to correct the installation problem as described in a knowledge base article, the install seems to work, but when I launch the application, it comes up CS4 extended again and, of course, will not accept my purchased serial number. If I could return the software, I would, how to remove this trial software so I can install the one I bought?

I want to uninstall ONLY the 32-bit CS5. When I go to either my Uninstaller software or the "Program & Features" of Control Panel, I could only see one icon/program for PS- not 2 (one for 32-bit & 64-bit respectively).

May 19, 2012I installed Photoshop CS6 beta on my Mac, OS 10.6.8. Once I purchased and went to install CS6, the installer informed me to uninstall the beta version of Photoshop, but didn't say how, or that there was a catch. I went and uninstalled Photoshop CS6 beta by dragging it to the trash. OOPS! - now the release version won't install, and I can't find anything on the Adobe website other than private messages from Adobe employees to specific users with the same problem as to how to rectify the issue.

Aside from venting my frustration at a situation I (and others have found ourselves in that could have been prevented by a little better planning and installer design.

May 26, 2011VS9 enables users to virtually split clips by scene before adding them to the work space. It does not split the actual file but just keeps pointers to the various scenes. VS9 keeps this data in a file named scenedb.dat. However if the clip is moved to a different location then the scene information is not re-linked and is essentially lost (as far as VS is concerned) although the data is still in the scenedb.dat.
Is there any way to go around this problem and recover the scene info after a clip is moved?
That is, besides not moving the clips to a different folder than the one it was in when the scene data was first generated and/or re-generating the scen information?
I tried simple editing of the file path in the .dat file but this does not seem to work. It would be nice to understand the encoding rule for the scenedb.dat file to 1) update it 2) use it to generate some index db outside of VS (e.g. html page).

Nov 28, 2008how to disable the cropping tool from cutting out data on layers when you do want it keeping!... its ok if you don't.. but there are times when you want to crop an image and not lose that hidden data!

Oct 29, 2013I have an alignment I need to edit that has a reverse curve. The first curve was made with the "Floating Curve (from entity, radius, through point)" and the second with "Free Curve Fillet (between two entities, radius)"
When I delete one or both curves i lose all the superelevation data beyond the editing location due to the temporary spit in the alignment. The superelevation data is all manual. This is a trail and the super is based on drainage not curves.
how to edit the alignment with a temporary split and not lose the superelevation data? I have not found a way yet to remove the reverse curves and not have a temporary gap.

When I use a backup program (SyncbackSE) to backup my pictures, it starts to scan all the Lightroom library files and it takes forever (hours and counting). Even though Windows cannot find the directories (with hidden and system files shown). I want to completely delete the Lightroom directories, because now I can't backup my images anymore. It is a pain in the dark places.

If I go to 'resynch folder', all my files are there, showing, say, 3,500 when my present catalog shows 3000. When I do resynch, all my labels, keywords etc edits are still present on both the 'missing' files and the ones still present in the catalog which had lost their edits.

Problems started when upgrading from 3.6 to 4.1 and upgrading to 4.2 did not work. Sometimes I might be able to use the software for hours, sometimes problems start just after ten minutes or so. Only restarting the software seems to work.

Lightroom is only program having this kind of problems, and problem stays same, no matter am I using external mouse or trackpad. Keyboard commands are working all the time and Lightroom seems to respond those normally, only mouse control is totally lost or acting randomly. If I use iPad with Air Display as second diplay, mouse seems to work there just fine even when window in MBP's display is having problems (I saw problem before installing Air Display).

Sep 15, 2013I used a flat bed scanner to scan in a bunch of old photos. The photos aren't completely straight -- I figured I could rotate and recrop using LR.

Here's the problem: I have a bunch of crooked photos on a white background. If I try to rotate the photo, it ends up cropping out part of the photo. (This does make sense -- You've all seen this when you've tried to rotate a photo.)

But I need to figure out how to tell LR to just add in extra white background where needed instead of cutting into my actual photo.

I can do this in PS by creating a big white background, rotating the original pic and then cropping. That's a hassle when you have 100+ images. But isn't there some way to do this in LR?

Jun 7, 2013Opening files in photoshop works fine, but when I save Lightroom loses the file. I have two hard drives in my laptop, a SSD with all my apps (Lightroom and photoshop) and a larger hard drive with all my catalogues and files. Lightroom thinks the edited file in photoshop is saved on the SSD instead of the storage hard drive. It gets the adress correct for the photo but it thinks the storage hard drive is a folder on the app drive.
Im running mac 10.6.8, Lightroom 4.4 and Photoshop CS6 13.0.0.

Nov 7, 2013I have previously used the book module to set up a photo book. During the time I was working with it, I would switch over to the develop module to make adjustments to pictures and then come back and continue working on the book. I have since decided not to use that book and cleared it out.

Now, something has changed (and I can't figure out what). I'll go into the book module and place some pictures into a book. However, if I leave the book module and come back, all updates to my book are gone and I am shown an empty book. Another odd thing that is happening though is that the pictures in the film strip along the bottom of the screen still show a number above them indicating that they have been used in a book. But I can't access or find that book anywhere.
